And we understand that you guys want to understand the plot. It can be sometimes confusing, and this is perhaps the only aspect separating Shattered Planes from being the largest Play-By-Post Roleplay ever. Want to know the problem? Even the staff sometimes have trouble understanding the plot. But help's on the way.
I will in the near future be posting a complex guide which I and a few others (Hikaru, especially) contributed to and created detailing the plot events from the backstory to the RP's founding in 2006 all the way to December 2008. We may update it to include a summary of the recent events of the RP in the time following December 2008. That includes all the topics available on this board.
We have, however, been faced more and more with a problem. As you all know, the plot is loosely tied into Christianity. Many of our members, myself included, are Christian (Or Jewish or Catholic or JW, etc...) and have difficulty with those aspects of the RP. The fact is, the way we use this religion can be interpreted as sacrilegious. As such, we have, after some discussion but almost complete agreement on the hands of the staff, decided to change the mythos of the RP.
What does this mean for you?If you had no real care about the Christian aspects of the RP, this means nothing. On the other hand, if you have a character related to the Christian aspects of the RP, we apologize sincerely for the inconvenience. We've tried to create an original mythos set which you should be able to incorporate your character into.
I intend for this topic to be for discussion of the changes. Voice any complaints you have here. We will listen to what you say before we begin the transition process.The new mythology of Shattered Planes.It started with a race unlike anything we know now or anything we will come to know. The ideas of dimensional planes and such had no meaning to this race in this realm... It was a place merely known as the North full of superbeings and the like, capable of things far beyond the power of today's Sage or Relorian... These beings were known as Perfection. They lived in the Beatiful North in harmony.
These beings got bored with their perfect existence, so they went out into that which existed, leaving the north into the white emptiness which they called the Middle. They knew of three other realms where they'd come from, all in different directions, but recalled nothing of life there. Bored of their futile existence, they used their remarkable power of Creation to create life in the East and West and, abandoning their homes in the North, went to live with their creations.
The creations, the imperfect saw that these creators were so much more powerful and demanded that they themselves be granted power. And so, the Perfect granted the Imperfect the power of Destruction. Using this power, the Imperfect rose up and rebelled against the Perfect. So began the war between the east, where the perfect gathered, and the west, where the imperfect gathered. The war would have been the end of all, but the perfect, seeing their demise in sight, gave life to abstract ideals, giving up all the powers they had but two: Creation and destruction. These were the two embodiments not created, the powers the perfect retained.
Following the end of the war, only one survived, besides the embodiments who were awaiting a leader to rise up from the Perfect. A half-breed. Half-perfection, half-imperfection. This gave birth to a new concept... Completion. The embodiment of completion, his birth gave power to, and he rose up as leader of the embodiments, and new life was made by the embodiments over and over, eventually the east and west being destroyed. The embodiments ruled in the middle and, with completion, developed land there. Three realms were created for the embodiments to roam in.
On the negative side of the middle, there was the land of fire, hell as it would eventually be called. On the positive side, there was a realm of wonder and a realm of mystery and beauty. The embodiments roamed these three realm... Completion, on the other hand, ruled the north. But he never forgot about the Perfect and Imperfect, even going as far as to create spirit-less bodies in their image, the first generation of the Incomplete (angels). The incomplete served him well..
But then, they met other embodiments, and new ideals fueled their head. Even a few brave ones thought about trying to take the power of Complete. But none ever dared... Until Compete, wanting a brother -- someone to call kin -- ripped his very essence in two. One half Creation, the last of the Perfect, and the other Destruction, last of the Imperfect.
Destruction and Creation ruled as the leaders of the embodiments in harmony for years, but Destruction watched as Creation began to create races with the help of the embodiments to live side-by-side them all. Destruction did not understand the embodiments, created by the Perfect all those years ago. Why did they want to create? Destruction wanted to destroy. Which is why he volunteered when Creation approached him.
You see, the Incomplete's foolish ideals eventually spread to the living. In a great thunderstorm that spread to all living beings, cleansing their souls, evil was spread. The thoughts of the Incomplete were spread by the rain from the North. Perfection, sensing evil spreading to his people, went to Destruction and spoke of a way to rid the evil of existence. Condemn evil to the long-forgotten South. Destruction took on the mission of ridding evil of life, by leading the rebellion.

Kaleb: So, WAY before the start of humanity and all that
Kaleb: Before the dimensional plane, etc.
Kaleb: There were four realms, one north, one east, one west, and one south, in between them the whiteness that would eventually be where the dimensional plane was made.
Kaleb: With me so far?
nekohikaruchan: Yeah.
Kaleb: The race that lived in these realms were super-beings. Powerful than sages, Relorians, even embodiments, with the powers of all the embodiments in one.
Kaleb: As they developed and such, they eventually migrated to the north realm (Heaven) and after generations forgot all about their ancestors homes and such in the other realms. Still with me?
nekohikaruchan: Yeah
Kaleb: Anyway, that race was called Perfection.
Kaleb: They got bored with their perfect lives and wandered out of the north into the whiteness that would be the dimensional plane, and then rediscovered the other realms.
Kaleb: They abandoned the north and moved to the east and west realms and used the power of creation (remember, all the embodiments in one) to create a race to stand beside them (no, this is nothing like PoP), as equals.
Kaleb: That race was called Imperfection, and at first they had no special abilities, just like mortals. Still with me, aye>
Kaleb: ?
nekohikaruchan: So they made their opposites.
Kaleb: Kinda, at first.
Kaleb: The Imperfect demanded some of the powers of the Perfect, so the Perfect granted the Imperfect the power of Destruction.
Kaleb: And only Destruction.
Kaleb: Obviously, the Imperfect rose up and waged war against the Perfect calling them "greedy" for only granting destruction, and threatened to use this power to destroy the Perfect.
Kaleb: The Perfect, in a last effort to save their kind, used all their powers but creation and destruction to give life to ideals like hope, fear, time, etc.
Kaleb: Basically, they created the embodiments at the expense of all their powers except creation and destruction.
nekohikaruchan: Aspects and Forces?
Kaleb: Yes.
Kaleb: The embodiments.
Kaleb: The only embodiments not created were Creation and Destruction, because they weren't ready to give up those powers till the end of the war.
Kaleb: So the war happened and only one living being survived.
Kaleb: A half-breed between the Perfect and Imperfect.
Kaleb: He rose up to become an embodiment himself, and the leader of the embodiments, but he wasn't perfect or imperfect. He was "Complete".
Kaleb: The embodiment of completion.
Kaleb: Still get it?
nekohikaruchan: So all that's alive then is the embodiments and him?
Kaleb: Yes.
Kaleb: The embodiments, with Completion as their leader, created new life in the East and West over and over, but life always destroyed itself, eventually the realms in the East and West were destroyed as well.
Kaleb: They eventually created land in the middle, the whiteness. AKA the dimensional plane.
nekohikaruchan: Why did it destroy its self though?
Kaleb: war, famine, greed.
Kaleb: Ideals like free will and sin came into existence and left with each race of humans.
Kaleb: *life
Kaleb: They created three realms on the dimensional plane, at first just realms for the embodiments to realm in.
Kaleb: Hell (negative side of the dimensional plane), the future Sage realm, and the future mortal realm.
Kaleb: Completion was the only embodiment who didn't inhabit these three dimensions, prefering to stay in the north realm instead.
Kaleb: The memory of his people, the Perfect and Imperfect, made him deeply sad so he made constructs of them, spiritless beings in a way but still with personality.
Kaleb: Basically, angels. He called them the Incomplete.
Kaleb: The Incomplete eventually had abstract thoughts such as rebellion, war, etc after meeting the embodiments.
Kaleb: But nobody ever tried to challenge Complete's power.
Kaleb: Still with me?
nekohikaruchan: So far.
Kaleb: Completion got lonely even with his Incomplete and other embodiments.
Kaleb: Nobody was of his kind and understood him.. so he split his very essence in half, to create a brother.
Kaleb: But this split his powers in two. He was now the embodiment of creation, his brother the embodiment of destruction.
Kaleb: So then they were both leaders of the embodiments, the brothers were side-by-side.
Kaleb: Eventually creation and the other embodiments decided to recreate life in the dimensional plane (AKA the beggining of time).
Kaleb: The only one who didn't join in creating the new life was the embodiment of destruction.
Kaleb: br

Kaleb: Back.
Kaleb: Now, the reason the embodiment of destruction didn't join in creating new life was because he didn't understand why they wanted to create new life.
Kaleb: The others had all been created by the race known as Perfect, who had been creators. The embodiment of destruction was basically the last of Imperfect, the destroyers.
Kaleb: The embodiment of destruction wanted to destroy.
Kaleb: But alas, life was created in the dimensional plane.
Kaleb: Then, basically, a thunderstorm effected the entire dimensional plane.
Kaleb: The incomplete (angels) who were rebelling against God put their ideas of rebellion in the rain.
Kaleb: So basically humans were filled with sin/evil then.
Kaleb: To destroy the evil, they had to give the living beings in the dimensional plane a choice on what to follow: Good or evil. Because not all humans would rebel.
Kaleb: So, the embodiment of destruction acted as if he were evil, and rebelled against the embodiment of creation.
Kaleb: The embodiments all followed the embodiment of creation, with the exception of a few who lost their powers and fell. Some of the imperfect and some of the humans also followed Destruction.
Kaleb: Resulting in what Koty called the harbringer.
Kaleb: A war between the two leading embodiments.
Kaleb: Which got them trapped in the realm of the south, aka Erebus.
Kaleb: And that's about it.
nekohikaruchan: Sounds awesome. But three things... People are gonna ask who created The Perfect, as it's the first question that pops up. Are you going to have some future event of the remains of the East and West? Because you seem to have conviently left them out of the rest. And... where do we come in? I mean, if it's not the Adam and Eve story. How does it get from that war point, to the point with magic and stuff?
Kaleb: 1. Idk, I think its good to always leave things open to develop later.
Kaleb: 2. I thought about it.
Kaleb: 3. We never decided that even with it as a directly Christian thing.
Kaleb: I just know that life was created in the future Sage realm and in the mortal realm
Kaleb: Created by the embodiments.
Kaleb: What happened after that, I don't know.
nekohikaruchan: Sounds awesome to me.
Kaleb: Orph didn't like it.
Kaleb: Nisorin was alright with it.
Kaleb: I guess it's up to Gaserlake.
nekohikaruchan: So what would this make your character Lucifer?
Kaleb: Oh yeah
Kaleb: I was thinking.
Kaleb: Demons obviously aren't the same as the rebel Incomplete. Lucifer would have been the leader of the rebel Incomplete up until the embodiment of the destruction came to lead them.
Kaleb: He eventually rises up and ceises power over the other rebels after the embodiment of destruction is sealed in Erebus.
Kaleb: And he moves them to hell.
Kaleb: The reason hell was empty and not filled with life like the others...
Kaleb: Maybe it was sort of suppose to be a dimensional trashbin.
Kaleb: All the bad energies go there.
Kaleb: Thus, it causes anyone who stays for too long to mutate from all the bad energy, killing those who aren't strong.
Kaleb: The rebels who survived became demons from the hell mutations, Lucifer being different somehow as the leader.
nekohikaruchan: Alright. That brings up the question, where in it, and how was it decided where people went when they died?
Kaleb: where in hell?
nekohikaruchan: Hell or Heaven, or whatever it's gonna be now.
nekohikaruchan: How was that decided?
Kaleb: For hell, that's easy.
Kaleb: The rebellion was meant to destroy evil.
Kaleb: But evil, once introduced to the living, could never be completely destroyed without destroying all life.
Kaleb: So, the evil were made to go to the realm of the rebels when they died by the embodiments will.
Kaleb: As for Heaven, the embodiment of creation decided to grant those who did not turn to evil the reward of the afterlife?
nekohikaruchan: I mean. For our characters when they die going to one or the other. Was it decided for after death? And what happened after death before that? And why death was even a problem unless that was one of the evils that came.
Kaleb: Yes it would be for after death, and before that there was no evil so they all went to Heaven I guess. Actually, you're right. There'd be no death until evil came about.
Kaleb: But once evil came about the embodiment of creation created afterlife to purge evil.
Kaleb: Go ahead.
nekohikaruchan: So what about the embodiment of death, or was there none?
Kaleb: I was thinking maybe it was created afterwards.
Kaleb: Or maybe it hasn't been created yet.
Kaleb:
nekohikaruchan: Don't let anyone know that...
Kaleb: Yeah I know.
nekohikaruchan: And the lifespan how as that figured?
nekohikaruchan: *was
Kaleb: The bodies, once introduced with evil, were no longer perfect and eventually would wear out.
Kaleb: That was more of a physical thing.
Kaleb: Some (certain sages) were able to cheat the body's limits though.
Kaleb: AKA Limited Immortality.
nekohikaruchan: By finding magic.
Kaleb: Yes.
nekohikaruchan: Alright.
Kaleb: Maybe (don't shoot me) magic was created by the embodiments, or from them.
Kaleb: In the Sage Realm.
Kaleb: Thus why those alive there had magic.
nekohikaruchan: Had an idea to add. Maybe magic is the left over energy/essence of what the Perfect were?
Kaleb: Sure... But why would it only be in the Sage Realm?
nekohikaruchan: It's was actually everywhere, but not everyone found awareness to it?
Kaleb: Sure.
