You would need a reason for that to happen. And not no cheap cop out of "The void makes it happen." Real reason.

If it has no sentience, then it has no personality. It wouldn't have memories, either, not even metamemories. Hell, they wouldn't even have a consciousness or a sub-consciousness.

It doesn't. If it doesn't have what a sentient person would have, it wouldn't even be considered sentient. You even said they don't have sentience.

A sentient person is considered sentient because of their ability to think rationally. Which is given by the brain. The spirits were imprinted with a personality and therefore sentience, although only a small amount per spirit. When fused together it allows for a full spiritual sentience along with a personality comprised of the fused entities.

A sentient person is a person that has senses, or has the ability to sense, or it means that he or she has awareness. Nothing to do with how they think.
