I'm Not Afraid To Take A Stand (Chaotic Search, Round 3: Match 1)
« on: September 29, 2010, 09:09:57 PM »
A vortex opened quickly and Nisorin arrived through it to the preset location Akylos had created for it. The Keepers' Palace in the Era Village -- outside the very flow of time itself. This palace was designed to be destined to no forces. It was outside time and only a select few embodiments had presence in this room -- but they shared it among each other. Control was not of the forces in this room, and nobody would be eavesdropping.

"Welcome to the palace," Akylos greeted. "This isn't the same room as you were in the other day -- a few months a-- You know hell. Time's always confusing. Especially here. In any case, welcome."

The room was completely white, oddly enough. Blank. White furniture, white walls, and white floors. No windows, yet it seemed to radiate a very gold tint... And the source of that was the center of the room. A golden orb floated there... Radiating golden light. It was as bright as a sun, but it would not hurt one's eyes. They'd see if they looked close enough that the light's power was being suppressed by some kind of barrier... No. It was being channeled.

"This," Akylos explained, "Is the core which powers the Era Village. The Midas Core Of Genesis. It preforms a number of functions in powering the village.... Including defense. The truth is, usually, the core's at least two hundred times more powerful than it is right now. It's the core's way of warning us that something's up... It's telling us that Plex, the power Lucifer is promising us, is awakening. I didn't realize it until our match.... This is the reason Lucifer's holding his tournament.

"There are five cores like this. Centuries ago, my brother mentioned it to me. He was part of a group... They called themselves the 'Destiny Lords'. I didn't understand it at the time, but I'm beginning to understand that they were followers of Fatet. Fatet... she feared that some 'great, dark power' was going to rise. It had been predicted to some extent in an ancient prophecy rumored to be as old as the embodiments. She had the Destiny Lords create these five cores, one for each 'Lord', to measure the balance of darkness and light in the dimensional plane.... And, if necessary, to control that balance.

"Lucifer wants the five cores. They're hidden -- spread all throughout the dimensional plane. There are ways to find their locations -- ways not even Lucifer knows of. I think I could help whoever wants to find these orbs... But that's beside the point. The whole reason for this tournament... Was because Lucifer wanted to draw us there. Those of us who have gained the power of the Destiny Lords -- the power to manipulate these orbs. I don't know if he's realized that I'm one of those five who can control the orbs yet, but I plan to change things... I want you to take that power -- not the power of gold, just the power to manipulate these orbs."

He walks over to the sphere, placing his hand against it as he sighs. "What kind of power do these orbs contain? If all they do is produce and manipulate energy, it's not much different then a Relorian's Weave." He says, turning to look over at Akylos. "Destiny Lords. Sounds vaguely familiar. Fatet herself, I believe, is rather overrated. Fate is a rather powerless force, able to look but not touch. Gifted with the knowledge of what is to be, yet cursed with the powerlessness that comes with her station. In any case, why should I be the one to take this?"
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

"Always remember that the light can overshadow the darkness," Akylos explained. A book appeared in his hands which he revealed to Nisorin. "Have you ever read this book? The Dimensional Theory: Charges by Elder Nam Somarsu. It's really a good book -- perhaps a bit outdated, but it makes sense of a lot of things. As you may know, hell is on the negative side of the dimensional plane. And I think we can all agree that Plex is probably the negative dimensional core...

"The spheres, when gathered, will release their total light in one blast. Positive energy. When it comes in contact with negative energies -- Plex -- The two will neutral out. So, if we release these orbs in Plex, we could destroy Plex's power. Whatever it is, it would no longer be a threat... There's only one drawback. If we release this thing in Plex, the entire negative charge of the dimensional plane will become neutral -- Essentially, this means hell will become one with the judgement realm -- the spirit realm, I believe you call it."

Akylos nodded, glancing at Nisorin. "But it might be worth the risk... And from what you told me in that battle, I'm sure it is. That's why I picked you. Because I believe that you or your wife will be the one to get close enough to end Plex -- and maybe even Lucifer -- once and for all. But don't underestimate Fate, my friend. It can do more than you think."

After thinking for a few minutes, a sly smile spreads slowly across Nisorin's face. "I believe we may control the positive charge." He says, looking over at Akylos as he flexes his hands. "The Outerverse. One of my associates has been communicating with it for a good while now. We took it back from the Aralangs during the rather short Second Sage War. But if Lucifer is offering Plex as a reward, it's because he can't control it, so he needs someone to control it through. So, as long as we make sure the winner won't be controlled by him, we shouldn't even need the orbs or the Outerverse, aye?"

"That's just it," Akylos explained, "Lucifer can control any of us. And one of us can control Plex... Just as one of us can stop it. He's trying to find the most appropriate host through which he can control Plex, and in the process he's trying to kill the one who can stop him. You, as of this moment, are both of those. He needs you -- he doesn't know that he needs to destroy you. Keep it a secret that you now control this sphere and let Lucifer think you or your wife are the ones he needs to control Plex -- and when he tries to use you, use him instead and release the power to destroy Plex."

Nisorin laughs and shakes his head, leaning up against a nearby wall. "Lucifer may be one of the original fallen angels, but he holds no power over me and mine. I don't fear him, and Celestie certainly doesn't either. Snatched her back from his greedy little red hands before, after all." He replies, smiling at Akylos with a strangely confident grin. "Why, do you fear him?"

"Because," Akylos answered, "I have a feeling Lucifer has something hidden... Something far darker than Plex. And it worries me."

"Probably a Divine Weapon he's corrupted or something. I'm not all that worried. He may be old and strong, but that doesn't make him unpredictable." He replies, whipping up a quick spell that creates several clock faces before him, showing him the times on Lesh, Duppin, and a few other popular worlds. Waving them away, he stretches his arms and looks at Akylos, a strange gleam in his eyes. "Besides, Lucifer may not be in power all that much longer. It's about damn time Hell gets new management, wouldn't you agree?"

"I don't know... Something weird's going on. Be careful," Akylos pleaded.

He smiles and shakes his head, standing straight as he reaches into a pocket. "Existence itself, is a very strange event Akylos. And I've traveled outside it, seen creatures that should not logically exist, flown through storms of energy even the Aralangs would not comprehend for years. I've seen enough to know that what we believe is existence, is really little more than a drop in the ocean. Other dimensional planes, other smaller pockets of existence, forces and powers none in this Plane have seen, some that we cannot even comprehend with the knowledge from this plane alone. I've spoken with spirits the size of entire dimensions, been to at least fifteen different prospective hells." With a slight flourish, he pulls out a small orb, pulsing with energy and slightly bobbing, as if dancing to its own beat. "The Embodiments are gathering, and it is distorting existence. They are slowly starting to abandon their purposes. Even Destruction and Creation have lost their way, should the distortions be of any evidence. Outside the Plane, there are veritable seas of Godfire and pure Creational energies, surging and warring with each other."

"And yet we can't even grasp what's right in front of us," Akylos noted.

"Because it's not right in front of us." He counters, casting a second spell, reminiscent of many medical monitoring spells. Looking satisfied, he dispels it and looks back to Akylos. "Obviously, this darker power is trying all it can to hide itself. I doubt it'll stay hidden for long. And according to my wife, there's already quite the dark being roaming around freely. Kurai, an incarnation of negative energies from one of the Sage Three. Before, it was lying in wait inside the Sage's body, but now it's escaped. It's powerful, and has made an ally that the Aralangs fear greatly."

"Ah, another of the negi kind. They seem to be popping up more and more frequently these days... I wonder why... Well, you best be returning to hell. Time's a funny thing here. You might miss your match," Akylos said, slightly concerned.

"I'm not up next. My wife should be. Wonder who she'll be fighting. Most likely Hikaru, I suppose. That negi will have to be dealt with. Sooner, rather than later." Nisorin replies, stretching his arms as he uses their bond to wake Celestie up. "I'll go pick her up. You should come to watch." He finishes, teleporting away.
