The Father's World
« on: November 06, 2010, 03:22:35 PM »
"Someday, son. Someday you will rule all of this."

Kaleb and K2323 had stood before the kingdom of Japae (then called 'Japan') all those years ago. They had stood at the balcony of K2323's palace, side by side. Father and son. They had watched the artificial sun set over the pocket dimension as the night came to fruit, its light shining down on the small kingdom.

But it hadn't been entirely good memories here. This had been the place where Kaleb had been when he'd lost his mother. Then, his uncle and father left. He had been left alone. Left with Konjan and his cousin to train. Sure, Konjan had been kind. Ryuu had been an interesting cousin, to say the least. But... Kaleb?

He had been without the love of his father or the love of his mother. A mere teenager. That's how he'd grown up, too, after that. He had eventually come to a place to start all over. Earth had been a clean start for him. He'd settled down in the southern United States and started a family. His son and daughter, Raileigh and Matt, had been nothing but wonderful children. He had kept their sage powers a secret.

Now, where were they? Probably dead. His wife, too. The world he had left behind had found him on the planet Earth. Now it had been trying to take him off the place he called home -- or what was left of it. So, Kaleb DID leave Earth. He came to Japae to face the problem head-on. And in the process, he had inherited what his father had left -- half the power of the Genesis King.

Where was his father, though? Dead? Kaleb wasn't sure, but really, Kaleb didn't care. K2323 didn't care for Kaleb, after all. It had only been after K2323 had died that first time (had it been the first time K2323 had died, for that matter?) that Kaleb had found out about his father's side of the family. Had K2323 ever cared about Kaleb? Really and truly?

Then, there was the darkness and the light. Kaleb had heard stories on Earth... Myths of powers which were beyond even him as a sage. Myths of 'gods'. Myths of those who could manipulate existence, control the stars, and fill or take away hope in the spirit of man. He wasn't sure what it meant, but he had thought of something the first time he'd heard such stories.

It had been a mere whisper... But during his training, he had heard of something called an embodiment.

But it didn't matter anyhow. All that mattered was what lay before Kaleb. Here he was in the exact spot that he had been decades ago. He stood on the balcony of an old, forgotten castle long ago outdone with new ones by new rulers. This place... Was Japan. Not the Japan he'd grown acustom to on Earth... But a place which had been born from the Earth nation. This was his father's world.

No. It was his world. He was home.

"Come forth," he whispered. He repeated himself, his words now just a bit louder. "Come forth."

Nobody heard him. A beat.

"Come forth," his voice now echoed throughout Japae, "I'm home!"

What could be seen from there on the outside was that Narrikian men clad in technologically advanced armor were marching towards the castle and examining it. One of them happened to notice Kaleb and with the aid of magic flew up to where he was. The ones on the ground were beginning to pull down the castle.

“Hello there. I can sense that you have some unique abilities. Perhaps I should take you to meet with someone. Someone associated with the new leader.”Nervously the soldier pointed a sleep inducer at Kaleb and put down a micro AM generator which activated  covering the area in an AM field.

"You speak of diplomacy, and yet you use hostility. Explain yourself," Kaleb demanded.

“Trouble has been brewing lately with the return of a member of the Anrufe known as Zere. Precautions are taken if anyone teleports in near old structures. I will deactivate the AM field as a sign of trust. But the new terrorist cell Worlds Without Boundaries is the reason why there is so much distrust of people who just teleport in.” At that he deactivated the AM field with a push of the button on a remote in his hands.  Obviously though it was not something he wished to do, namely deactivating the AM field would have not been his own choice.

“And as promised the AM field is disabled temporarily. Of course we would have to borrow any weapons you have at least for the time being so that you are not a threat. With all that has been going on our leaders are on edge a lot. We wrested control of this place from the Archive. And now we are planning a war on a galactic scale to wipe out a terrorist group.”

Taking out his comm link he called up his commanding officer Katrina and asked her to come to his location. Prefferably with a force of Stinger Mechoids behind her.

“Sorry. Recent troubles require every soldier to come with at least 20 other soldiers.” Katrina was on her way to his location in a Enigel Mechoid.

"You mean to tell me that all of this has happened while I've been gone? Well, I think it's about time that we restore order. Who's the leader of your forces?" Kaleb asked.

“Currently we have a council of leaders. Only about two are currently here while the others are on assignment elsewhere. One of them is headed to our current location with a sizeable force to escort you to the true leader Lord Montreal. Also I have an offer for you if you are willing. It seems our leader is looking for a general to lead his forces, and someone fully competent in the magical arts that has already been trained.
Having the son of one of the sage three will serve to unite all of Japae under his command which means it will be a lot easier for him to find the base of that idiotic organization Worlds Without Boundaries. Once we have found it we will blow it up.”

At that the enigel mechoid containing Katrina had arrived outside of the old castle. “Eject.” Those words when uttered by Katrina launched her out of her Enigel Mechoid. Once outside of it she did a series of aerial flips, and then a teleportation arriving near Kaleb.

“Hello. I was told you wanted to meet with me? A lot has changed since the last time you were in Japae. A lot has changed indeed for the people here.” If one were to try and read her magical signature it would seem like a sage but also like that of other races that were capable at the same time.

"Yes, I can see that," Kaleb said, bowing slightly to the form of Katrina out of some respect. "I would like to be such a general as to further the people of Japae."

Examining him for a long moment Katrina thought about it. “Well as a test of your capabilities as a general there is a problem on Elemora currently that needs to be resolved. Namely that WWB is setting up shop there. I could lend you some forces and a ship since we are trying to fight off Zere there along with some regular WWB operatives. What they are doing must not be allowed as they can't be allowed to take Elemora.”

At that she conjured the outfit of a general tailored to fit Kaleb along with summoning with magic the tools a normal general would need in combat. “Here. My gift to you. You will need it in the times to come. Also if you know any spells to make this place inpenetrable to the Anrufe now would be the time to activate them.”

“Also Kaleb, know this. While I may have some authority Lord Montreal is the one who decides if you remain a general or not. So therefore you must succeed. Zere must be stopped as must the other operatives of WWB.”

"Alright," Kaleb said, taking the tools presented to him, "Where is this ship and its crew?"

“Elemora. I will send you there directly if you want and you can take my mechoid. Though you might want to change the colors of it. All it is a mechanical suit that is armed with a lot of AM weapons and other useful weapons.” said Katrina. As she looked at him she opened a portal to the main ship of the fleet. “Harrisia is the leader of the fleet and the commanding officer. You outrank her temporarily but your orders are to kill Zere and all his people there by any means except destroying Elemora. Avoid civillian death if you can as well.”

"I'm on it.. But I want to pick my own technology. I'll be leaving in a bit."

He teleported out to a nearby location in the capital to gather supplies and intel on the enemy, coordinates, etc before leaving.

Before he left though an amulet would appear around his neck containing not only a power amplification spell which would allow his spells to be stronger, but also something that would allow him to tap into the energies of numerous genetic experiments in case he needed a recharge of his own magic.

"My gift to you champion." said Katrina. Once he was gone she made the mecha go back into the pocket dimension, the soldiers left and she teleported back to Lord Montreal.
