OOC: Interesting Place to Infect
« on: November 12, 2010, 06:18:18 AM »
Sorry Nisorin, but I'm going to have to call your attack out...

You used spirits, NPCd spirits. I know your characters are friends with the spirits and all. But NPCs? I don't think it can be on a place you don't own, unless Hawk specifically asked you to. Otherwise you could say spirits of every planet or domain anyone owns, and attack them with their own deceased.... That doesn't seem fair. It's like if I went to say Gaser's pla-, er well, he doesn't have one. Like if I went to say Hiro's planet and started to NPC his animals and plants turning against him, or even the planet. He owns it, it's his to NPC...

Everything has a spirit, I know the theory you're going for. But even those should be NPCd by the current owner only... Sorry, but metagaming and cheating.

Not metagaming or cheating when you remember the fact that every single Shamai Relorian who's completed basic education has a spirit they partner together with. I never specified whether it was Japanese spirits or not that came, just that there was a pack of spirits that noticed that there was a huge-ass battle going on with something really really really really bad and a place the SoP have been interested in for a good while now.

As for the plants/animals, that kinda destroys most of the Shamai magic, since it's druidic/shamanic magic which deals massively in animal/plant interaction.
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

You can't NPC what someone owns though...
And spirits out of nowhere? Yeah that is kinda metagaming.

Well, you may have noticed a signature spike, yes, but you wouldn't know that something really bad is going on. The battle wasn't that big, either. A titan, yeah, that's something enormous, but the battle itself? Not very much. The battle would have been over quickly, too.

Something like Kurai would be noticed, not to mention the fact that the Virus is there as well, with a Titan made from a converted star. The battle itself may not be particularly large, but between a magic-being with Kurai's raw power and the Virus & Subverter, coupled with the mass migration of the Narrikkeans, it's pretty obvious something big and/or important is going down. Hell, the very presence of a titan at all should signify that something big and/or important is going down. Again, this is all including the fact that the SoP have been interested in Japan/Japae for a long while now, and so would have kept spirits around to make sure nothing too bad happens.

Then why didn't they take it before now when Hawk attacked? They could have easily defended that, they didn't. But Kurai and the virus comes in, and they do? Um... total metagaming? And if there were spirits, it should have been designated long before now that there were.

Nisorin, they wouldn't know that it's Kurai. They wouldn't know that the Garelang Virus is attacking. And yeah, there's a titan, but how would you know if the reason for the titan being there isn't purely for garrisoning?

You're right. They wouldn't know what Kurai even was. But they would know that whatever it was, it was attacking, which could most definitely be noticed. And she's made almost entirely of negativity and sin. Even a toddler mage could figure out that she's bad news. As for the Virus, spirits have already been whispering about it, calling it the Great Beast. This has been going on since S3. They may not recognize it as a virus, or of Gareleng origin. Instead, they'd recognize it as the Great Beast.

Then why weren't they around when she and the Garelang Virus attacked Bula Bala, Dema, Aralia, and Taelia? Seems metagaming to me.

No. It wasn't since season three. In season three, it was the most secret weapon the Aralangs had. They would use it as a last resort. I changed it OOC, and I have the ability to do it, since it was never used or mentioned it IC. I changed it since SP.

Any spirits remaining from any of the times the Virus was used in the past would have spread the word of such a massively dangerous thing. While they may not have realized exactly what it was, which I made sure to keep to, they would know how to recognize it when they saw it, and they would know of its dangers to the living and mechanical alike. Why weren't they around for Bula Bala, Dema, Aralia or Taelia? Because they're not at all important to the Sons of Plunder, and so they wouldn't have spirits they're allied with nearby to inform them of what happens.

So, according to you, it's metagaming to keep tabs on a place you're interested in while you're not keeping track of places you don't care about, and in the case of Bula Bala and Dema, don't even know exist. Great. That means any attempt at monitoring anything of interest at all is instantly metagaming.

Yet again. If you were watching Japae, why just now? Why didn't you do anything when Hawk took it? Because we're more of a threat? Yeah, no. We're two people/attackers. He had a whole damn race attack it.

Why didn't they bother taking over Japae? Why did they wait until there's a conflict that would give them more trouble? Plus... Even if they did know about the Virus, they wouldn't know that it's attacking Japae.

The Sons of Plunder weren't fully reformed until after Hawkeye had taken Japan. They were hoping the people would liberate themselves, since it isn't ownership of Japan that Plunder was looking for.

You could have at least posted that spirits were watching at that time, and not attacked. But you didn't. Every way you look at it, it's still NPCs.
