Judgement of the Sin-Against-God
« on: January 18, 2010, 07:54:37 PM »
A courtroom was the first thing Faotemaru saw as the never ending blackness began to dissipate. His head felt like it was mauled by a dump truck or three, as he slowly began to remember exactly what happened.

That's right... I... was killed... He eventually came to this line of reasoning within seconds, for not many people that enter this room figure out their true fate so soon. How he was killed was unknown to him, for his assailant was clothed in the blackest of robes, darker than a black hole. But what surprised him most was the fact that he was killed by this person.
Someone he had felt no magic from whatsoever. It was like they never existed.

A bang from a gavel was heard, as Faote noticed that he was at what seemed a defendant's stand in the middle of the courtroom. ... come to think of it, I could just make a gate out of here with the philoso-
But he no longer felt it's influence on him. On the contrary, he wasn't even wearing it around his neck like he was before he died. ... So the person that killed me was after the stone? Feh. Not as if they can use it. The most they can do with it is just power a piece of technology. Hell, one that size can't even power a battleship. His mind wandered in thought, reasoning that the loss of his stone was nothing important. ... Though I'll have to make a new one somehow if I want to escape this place...

The two judges entered the room.

The White Judge had heard a variety of cases in his day. From murderers to rapists. From music junkies to music artists. From druggies to drug lords. The White Judge thought he had seen it all. Heard it all, too, until he received the files on this man, Faotemaru, an alchemist of sorts who had come from the Kingdoms after a long time fighting.. Zere?

Ah, yes, Zere. The two judges had experienced Zere once or twice. Not a pleasant guy, nor was any of his organization. The Anrufe was a terrorist organization of sages. Zere was a terrorist. The White Judge really didn't like terrorists, not after dealing with that guy (was his name Insane? Hubane? Propane? Husein?) a few decades back.

As the White Judge took his seat, he thought to comfort the dead.
"Would you like some tea?" he offered, a glass appearing on the 'defendant' stand.

Faote paused for a moment, as he eyed the tea suspiciously. ... Well, it's obvious I'm going to hell. May as well enjoy something I'm familiar with before I do. He reasoned, as he quietly took hold of the tea with his hands. "Thank you." He gave the white judge his gratitude as he stretched his stiff black wings.

"Well," announced the White Judge. "We have two options. Send you to hell or.."
The White Judge eyed the Black Judge suspiciously before getting out of his stand. He walked over to the dead and whispered in his ear, "Don't tell the Black Judge, but I could give you community service in the Tea Kitchen next door."

Faote sighed, as he looked to the white judge that was beside him. "Do you not realize the weight of evil I carry on my shoulders? I have defiled God's holy territory by strictly violating the laws of equivalent exchange, creating an object known as the philosopher's stone which has made me immortal, something that only your God should have. And if that wasn't enough, I've created life when that privilege is, once again, reserved for your holy leader or by mortal means. And then I violated your God's creation by modifying myself to the point where I'm not even human anymore. To make things worse for me, I've put an entire country of people in danger by imprisoning them and being responsible for thousands of deaths. What, is that not enough? I've animated the dead to be my servants, I've combined alchemy with magic to even further intrude on holy principals... The things I've done goes on forever. Finish your judgment so I can start spending my eternity doing something like lazing around." Faote explained, quite tired of bullshit at this point.

In fact, Faote was surprised that there was even a judging system in place. He always thought that things were ultimately judged if you followed a religion or not.

Appearing in with what seemed to be a rather simple teleportation spell the Black Judge hastily sat down, turning to Faote and the White Judge he gave a grim smile..

"So Faote, I was wondering.. What would you do for another chance?" He asked, looking the Alchemist in the eyes. "What would you do?"

What?

Faote's eyes shot open, looking to the black judge in disbelief. Another chance... Another chance! Is this for real?! He happily thought before reality set back in. There had to have been a catch. Either that or the judge was just messing around with him. Either way he decided to play along.
"Are you seriously asking me that? Seriously? Is my body no longer living proof of what kind of hell I've gone through to kill that one man? I may be a hypocrite chasing after a selfish ambition, but these black wings who used to be Katherine are sole proof that the end justified whatever means I took! No matter what I had done, I was just a step short of what I should be, another step short of accomplishing my true goal..." Faote almost exploded explaining this, as he was breathing heavily afterward.

"I... I don't care if I'm sent somewhere. That would just be your judgement. But to even joke something about that when it's plainly obvious what I've already gone through for this kind of thing, even knowing that one day God himself would smite me..." Faote stopped explaining. He said much more than he should have. I've reached the depths of hell and the forbidden territory of God for all of this, and he jokes about something like this? Pitiable. Just send me to fucking Hell already.

The white judge spoke up in a rather odd and somewhat desperate tone.
"Perhaps for a bit of community service, we could give him another chance. I hear the.. hot beverage kitchen next door needs some extra help."

The Black Judge smiled.. He actually smiled, not one of contempt he gives those he wishes to burn in Hell for all eternity. "No, I know what my judgment shall be. Faote shall be released back into the mortal plane, but without a body.. He shall be allowed to remain in the mortal plane for three months, if he does not find someone to create him a suitable body then he shall be sent to Hell." The Black Judge announced, turning to his partner. "What do you say on my proposal?"

"No. I can't allow that. I won't go back under those conditions." Faote stated, his wings stretching as if in aggression. "Katherine's soul is in this body and her wings! I won't abandon those things for a chance to live again!" He continued, genuinely angry. Katherine, the homunculus... no, his daughter, his only family that ever treated him with love was with him. He would do almost everything to fight Zere, but to abandon Katherine's soul like this...

"I refuse your proposal." Faote finally stated, preparing himself for Hell.

"You don't get a choice, even if you were judged to go to Heaven or Hell, that thing's soul would be destroyed and discarded of." The Black Judge informed, looking at him with sad eyes. "But if you were to live once again.. You could maybe.. sneak her soul with you."

The White Judge nodded. "Bye," he announced as the floor below Faote began to turn into a portal that would discard him somewhere in the mortal plane.

And with that, Faote fell into the hole as burning whiteness surrounded him with a collection of colors, blazing past him as he fell. And with those colors, his body slowly degenerated. Katherine's soul began to slowly shy away as a faint black glowing light.
"No!" Faote shouted as with what remained of his supposed arms, he pulled the soul back in and embraced it tightly. No afterlife would accept Katherine and give her peace... it was up to him to let her rest. I don't care if I live forever... I want Katherine's soul to rest peacefully... he muddled through his mind, as the lights of colors and whiteness dimmed.

Blackness again. He slowly looked around as small spots of light littered the background. He was back in the mortal plane, in outer space. Gripping Katherine's soul tightly as a spirit, he noticed a planet nearby. ... Vincent. He'll know what to do. It's not like I have anyone else to turn to... he thought, as he started his journey in search of Vincent.

"I always did like that portal," remarked the White Judge.
