Duel
« on: March 23, 2011, 04:46:48 PM »
I Lucas Silver do hereby challenge the wielder of the sword Masamune to a duel. If he wins, he will receive tutelage in a few attacks I have been developing. If I win, the mercs do a job for free for me. Also it will be a battle between Hiro and Myself alone. No interference from allies or friends during the fight. This transmission was sent to the Island.

Flora read over the transmission, blinked twice, then went to Hiro. "Hey Hiro, some guy wants to challenge you to a duel or something. Says if you win he'll tutor you on some kind of fighting style. You wanna accept?"
"Eh...Not really...I make my own style. Same with most everyone here, really. You want to be tutored in it?"
"No...I think I'll try and make my own magic better."
"Well, thats settled then."

Another transmission came.

Then we shall fight and see how your fighting style holds up against that of my own. Meet me in Africa. I'll even fight you and your allies. Of course I'll bring my apprentice who I have been teaching if merely so he can watch me kick your butts.

Instead of a response Lucas appeared on the Island. Standing behind him was Jonathan clad in a training Gi, a mercenary that the Mercs would know quite well.  Holding out his palm Lucas formed his weapon of choice, a plain katana in his hands. Now he looked at the Mercenaries or tried to locate them by sensing their magic signatures. If it was a fight he needed to test out his symbol attacks then so be it, he would fight the mercenaries with all that he had.  "Hiro, come out and plaaaay!"

Play? That's all the 'Earth' had to hear to join this as well. After all, Treena, the spirit of Earth more commonly known as Mother Earth just loved to play. Especially when it was in nature, basically, her back yard. And though she usually stayed out of the business of humanity who lived on her very surface, Treena tended to get lonely and bore time to time. The humans no longer worshiped her as the great goddess Gaia, mother of nature. And the playful scientists had seemed to have given up on researching her and turned their attention to the stars and other planets. It just seemed, that lately, no one cared for poor old Earth.

That's why, when Lucas wanted to play. Treena was all for playing. But playing with a spirit of the very planet you're on? It can get a bit rough at times. Treena had learned this with the last 'playtime,' where she had let loose the elements and scared the poor folk. And so she opted for a much different approach this time around.

A light breeze began to pick up, and a few leaves fell on top of poor Lucas. And then? The wind tapped him, a clear childish voice carried on top of the air currents, "BOO!"

Turning around to face the voice Lucas said to it. "This battle is between myself and Hiro. Kindly refrain from intervening in this, as it is a test of his skills along with those of my own. To see if the Mercs are as good as I have heard." The leaves hit him as did the wind, but he quickly used a spell to get rid of the leaves off of his clothing and materialized his katana in hand, not a trace of the element of earth in the blade at all. No, this blade had been put through many proofs, and was now ready for his own use.

"Well damn, I didn't think he'd actually he crazy enough to come here to fight..." Hiro muttered, a little surprised. "Ah, but I guess it couldn't hurt to spar a bit, now. C'mon, Masamune...Lets show them what happens when you irritate a merc." Hiro said to his blade, a grin on his face.
"Its been a while since we've had a good fight...Lets hope this one doesn't lose too quickly, my friend."
"I agree with that." Hiro got up, unsheathed Masamune, and said(totally Calling his Moves),"Wind Blade-Vector Wind." The first spell was a simple one, which merely extended the blade of Masamune by created a rapidly spinning blade of wind from the blade, and keep going from its tip, while the second expanded on that on, allowing him to turn the blade of wind at angles. It couldn't curve, but any angle could be made, allowing him to stab his foes from afar. The blade was made of pure wind, as well, which meant it was invisible, and the blade shot forth at high speed, turning at its angles before leaving the base, and encircling the two in a cage made from only the one blade.

Hiro hadn't heard the voice of the Earth, however, and so didn't know to stop his attack, but at least his opening move was a benign capture-type, for a victory without having to draw blood, not a all-out attack.

When she felt the pull of wind and the change in the wind currents from Hiro's Blade, Treena began to be interested. Humans that could manipulate the elements such like her? This surprised her a bit, she had thought all the humans that had that 'spellcaster,' stuff had long perished. Were these perhaps descendants of the pagans and wiccans? The very people that once knew her as Gaia and basked in her glory? Her friends? Treena had to know!

Leaving Lucas to wonder who had tapped him, with no sign of who it had been, Treena called out, more forcefully this time with the wind switching back to her control and rushing in waves at Hiro, "TAG! YOU'RE IT!"

The moment the wind cage vanished, Lucas launched into his offensive not wasting a second wondering who had tapped him. He would deal with that later, but for now there was the matter of the fight to deal with.  Already having a couple of Kanji ready for his own use Lucas activated them. First the one for the tiger, and then the one for strength would be used.  Combined, they would give him the strength of a tiger?s fury. The leaves did not bother him so much as he prepared himself for the fight that would lie ahead.  Materializing his bow and arrow Lucas pointed it at Hiro.  At that moment Lucas was looking very much like he did when he had been human except for the organs in him that were differently positioned and what not.  Pointing the bow outward he said. "Alright, you want a show? Flame Arrow." At that he shot an arrow, that became several missiles of flame, headed straight for Hiro. However the fire was an illusion, but what it contained was not for the arrows contained a freezing spell. Something that would cause a blizzard.

"TAG! YOU'RE IT!"

"Huh? What...Who said that?" Hiro said, as the waves of wind rushed him. Wind shouldn't be able to appear indoors...Not without an outside force. He was puzzled, but intrigued. The other force was clearly powerful to be able to dispel one of his wind blades, but wasn't malevolent, it seemed. He chuckled for a few seconds, and said,"Well, if we're gonna play tag, I have to be able to tag you back, dont I?"
Flora'd felt the wind on her, but it seemed to sooth her. She didn't know why, but the wind felt...Good. Natural. She smiled a little, not really realizing it, and a few flowers bloomed from her hair in her happiness.

Meanwhile...

The arrow itself caught fire and burned to ash before reaching the base, as out walked a figure carrying a lance. The figure had red hair, a gray jacket, fingerless gloves, blue eyes, a lance, and a scowl. "Go home, I ain't in the mood for a fight. And if you two are...I'll show you the might of mine lance...And burn you both to ash."

But seeing as how the arrow had enough magic to cause a blizzard in it, it could not possibly burn as the fire around it was merely illusionary. Thus it did not burn, and continued into the base and would hit Hiro, dead center in the face if not stopped. Lucas unleashed another Kanji, this causing the metal of their base to retract into the ground so he could see his opponents better. Well it caused the walls to turn transparent, and immaterial.

With that he threw another Kanji, causing a flood on the island, and casting Oxygen Indepdency on himself allowing him to survive without oxygen. Thus when the flood would douse everyone on the island, and hit them it would not affect him, for he had morphed himself into the water. Well into the water is a figurative term, as he had turned his body into water and entered the flood. THe moment it got near the base he turned back to normal.

And then he unleashed a volley of lightning spheres at everyone there.

Ah...But it was not the illusion flames which had burned the arrow. For you see...
Sara was a pyromancer.
Her flames had burned the arrow to ashes after all, because she had used her magic of fire to make it happen. And when he pulled his arm back to throw the kanji...A pillar of flame burst from under his, burning off his hand, stopping the flood before it began. She didn't know what he was doing, but either way, she was pissed. The tip of Malious caught flame as she spun the lance, the flames and flags on it flowing around with it, before she slashed with her lance, sending a wave of fire at them. Finally, for a final attack, she lights her lance one more time, but imbuing it with the power of Chaos...And  stabbed into the ground, sending lines of fire to trap her foes. Once they reached them, the fire solidified...Into glass. They'd be surrounded by walls of glass, shaped like fire. Due to its shape, it would refract all light seen through it, meaning it'd be impossible to know if someone was on the other side of the walls.

Sam and Orga appeared not too far from the battle, appearing to step out of the shadows himself. "Oh, what have we here?" he said as spied the fight. "It would seem our new employer has gotten himself into a battle, perhaps we should help him out?"
".....Nah, at least not yet anyways, he seems to have it under control. Lets just sit down and watch"
"Five bucks on the fire chick to lose"
"Your on"
With that Sam conjured a comfy lawn as well as some popcorn and sat down to watch the battle.

Ow. Burning pain on his hand one moment. The next his hand was gone. Trapped in the glass Lucas concentrated and vine like tendrils came out of the stump forming into a new hand to replace the one that had just been burned to ash. Also as an added bonus he created for himself an invisible barrier and one that could resist fire, of many varieties. Looking worried Jonathan asked Lucas how they were going to escape. Merely holding out his hand Lucas formed a lance of sorts made out of solid light which he used to cut a hole in the chaos 'glass' and free himself from said containment.

Now he looked at the one that had shot the fire at him. "Nice form. You've earned the contract. I have a job I need done, but I wanted to make sure the mercenaries were skilled enough to pull it off, without a hitch."

However, she wasn't where she was a second ago. She'd seemed to...Disappear.
Suddenly, from behind a burning lance was thrust, coming out of the glass. Using magic, she'd moved through the glass, to evade detection and get in a unnoticed hit. With her aim, it'd be a mere glancing blow, not enough to kill either of them, but enough to incapacitate one of them if it hit. "I ain't done yet...This isn't a proper fight, after all. Not until one side's defeated!"

But when she attempted the glancing blow Lucas's barrier activated causing the glancing blow to bounce off both himself and Jonathan. As the barrier had extended to protect his protege as well from the attack. Now it was his turn. Lucas used magic to sense her location and warped to where she was, not a teleportation but a warp. Once behind her, he delivered a series of blows that would cripple a normal human without magic for life.

"Now I have witnessed enough of your fighting style. You will do adequately. But what about the other mercenaries?"

She wasn't in a single location; she was within the glass. He ended up punching the glass, but by then she was elsewhere in it. A ray of sheer heat blazed out from it, but not aimed at Lucas or Johnathan; instead, it was aimed towards the sand at their feet, melting it into a crescent of glass around him. Instantly, lances shot out from the glass below him, intent on hitting him with a swift, decisive blow. Again, he wouldn't be killed, but she wanted to beat him, and wasn't gonna give up. Not after her recent defeat by the guy with the demon.
Not fair, a pyromancer going up against a demon...The damned things are masters of fire. But, at least he was a ally. Strong allies made a strong team, after all.

The lances would have hit Lucas had not a silvery barrier rose cast by Jonathan that protected the both of them from the lances. Instead Lucas grabbed Jonathan's hand and warped, this time outside of the glass. Next Lucas held out his hand forming the glass solid once more and slowly removing oxygen from the glass, hoping to make her pass out so that he could declare victory without laying a single punch against her.

"Beat that."

The spell would've worked...Except that there isn't any oxygen within glass. Lucas and Johnathan weren't in the glass, Sara was, and was using magic to sustain herself while she used the glass as a means of getting to him. Her body was and wasn't in the glass; it was in there, but it wasn't entirely as her body was normally. She was more of a shade than her normal self, overlaid onto the glass, refracted into it, and capable of changing back into herself and her lance to hit her enemies from within the glass. As he was near the glass, in order to attempt to remove the non-existent oxygen from it, a lance tip formed to stab at his face, stopping a mere inch from hitting. As she came out of the glass, her body reforming from within the walls of it, she smiled, saying...
"Checkmate."

"Congrats. You earned the job." said Lucas smirking as he healed up his body from her attacks and had Jonathan do the exact same. "The job is simple. Get into FH and grab one of the sons of plunder, quietly. The rest of you will be deployed to Duerme. Find out the public opinion of Ken, and kill all sympathizers with the Dais or the Anrufe. Do so covertly."

"HAHAHAHAHA! That's five bucks mother fucker, pay up!" Sam said thrusting his fist into the air in victory, fire shooting out of it.
"God damn you, no really God, damn him"
"Money. Now."
"I'm broke"
"...Them you owe me money"
"Fuck. Fine."
Sam got up from the chair as it disappeared in a flash of fire and walked over to where Sara stood saying "Nice job, you just won me five bucks", clapping as he did so.

"Hm...Well, we are in a bit of a lack of a job...And we do have the two over there..." Sara mumbled as Sam walked over to her. As she listened to his words, she smiled a bit. The two had proved themselves competent fighters by beating her, but they'd still need to be tested in the field... "How would you two like to earn a bit more, then? This gentleman here has just offered the Mercs a job. We'll need to tell Hiro, since he might like to come along for the trip, and Flora should come along, and I was hoping you'd like to. You seem...Malevolent enough for what the job seems to entail, after all, and you'll be payed for your share of the work. It'll be divided evenly into three for everyone if you, me, Hiro, and Flora go, since Flora doesn't usually accept payment. So, what do you say?

Lucas's eyes flashed with red-ish energy as the wounds on him fades and both he and Jonathan levitated off of the ground. "The job is simple now. FH is taken care of but there is still the matter of the sympathizers and of Interpol. Your task is the sympathizers/sleeper-cells/however the DAIS keep messing with our computers. Eliminate the problem." His voice had a lot of charisma in it, and would be very persuasive. "Your pay is a half mil fully. Divide it among yourselves however you see fit."

Jonathan stood paying attention to the expressions of the mercenaries and keeping his hand on the hilt of his blade. If the mercs caused trouble Jonathan would be ready to stop them.

"Sure I'd love to come along, I could use a quick work out.
He listened to Lucas explain the job, his eyes lighting up after he heard how much they'd get paid.
"Half a mil divided three ways is what Orga?" Sam asked a greedy grin on his face.
"I don't know Sam, I majored in Architecture"
"They have college in hell?"
"Yes"
"Wow, what's it like?"
"Community college, very nice. Everyone buys local to help support it"
