Aquiform Profundum
« on: May 18, 2011, 07:35:22 PM »
Empire Name: Aquitaria
Primary Race: Mermaids, for lack of a better term.
Empire Description:
The "race" is pretty basic. Females are human up with dolphin bottoms and males, being their counterparts, have shark bottoms. They are very strong when it comes to water magic and because of this they also have an immunity to it as well as ice. Fire does not work in Aquitaria as it has no land whatsoever. Dark magic is weak and earthly magic tends to have more damage. Absolutely no technology works here.
Additional Information:
This world is made up entirely of water. There is absolutely no land whatsoever which thus results in only water based transportation being available and even then it is very limited. Aquitaria is highly protected by higher up mermen (those trained specifically for defense and combat in magic and physical). Merpeople cannot leave Aquitaria unless they are either the emperor or a high class magic wielder (and there are very few).

Mermaids and mermen can be seen as very cruel and careless creatures when looked on from the outside though it also depends. Those that are mostly human tend to have more human tendencies however those that are human looking with more harsher and meaner looks aren't really "human". It all depends on the area you are in; some mermaids are nice, others are not. It's basically like going to Chicago - you have your gang members and you have your citizens.

Aquitaria has an alliance with the Emouvoirs (and planet Duerme). I'll do this in character as well if I have to.
Territories:
So far, none.

Why does technology not work?
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

Because it's water and since it's also magical water it seems to nullify it. The entire planet is water so the amount overpowers the technology. I set it up for this so no damn people can come and use their magical shit. They put a barrier up as well because they are going to rebuild Atlantis (I asked K23) and they don't want it to be technology based - they want to keep it old school, basically.

If that's the case, one AM field from a Titan and your no-techy-thing goes away.

AM field = Anti-magic, negates magic. They just need to pulse it on the planet and the magic is gone.

Nilgaitt = Anti-magic sand/minerals/whatever it was, I forgot. Exact same thing as an AM field, only it can be infused into metal. Or even forged into completely pure Nilgaitt metal. They'd only need a submarine made out of this stuff and they're in.

Then I guess I'm going to have to make my own technology for this planet because I don't want any technology users and/or Hawkeye freaks invading with said technology. Or in general I guess. :/ and yes I understand that makes no sense however basically I'll allow this one technology piece on the planet as it negates all others in some way however that's it.

meh.

Anti-Magic technology suppresses magic within the body of the castor. Meaning, whoever wants to use magic can not under an AM field, under normal circumstances, because he can't shape the magic and use it. It's like having sand, but not being able to make a sand castle out of it.

Nilgaitt, if I remember right, actually makes magic fade from existence under it's influence.

Both AM fields and Nilgaitt, when produced by technology, would be useless under your water. However; if it were placed around the atmosphere of the planet, closing the planet in, the field would be outside the water, but would affect the water itself.

AAM technology is typically 'universal', meaning you don't have to do a tech request for it. You can just say your empire has it. You can request it if you want, to make it more to your liking and what not. There is no Anti-Nilgaitt technology that I am aware of right now. If you can come up with a design that basically makes Nilgaitt and AM pointless, go for it.

I'll probably have to do that because I don't want any technology allowed to be used on this planet. I'll think of a way, trust me. It's my planet, dammit.

You could argue that it works the same way Magimeta prevents violence, I suppose...Isn't that immune to AM and Nigaitt?

Magimeta is basically a half-embodiment, considering it's apart of Koty's son.
