A relatively young empire newly introduced into the galactic scene, Lorei is a race of tall, winged bipedal people with a penchant for the arts, which shows in nearly everything they do. While they are not particularly powerful technologically, with exception of their AAM and magic amplification technology, they have progressed extremely quickly magically. While most magic users utilize their skills through spells, Lorei magicians manipulate energy directly, without the need of 'fancy hand movements and gibberish words.' This enables them to use average level effects much quicker and easier, and lower level effects nearly instantly, but higher level effects require a good deal more time to use.
Throughout their past, they have often had to hide their wings due to global prejudice. To this end, one of the first effects a Loreian child is often taught is how to magically collapse their wings into a very detailed tattoo on their backs. This has gone on so long that it has been ingrained into their body, essentially making it a biological process.
Their Anti-AM technology has been forced to improve greatly due to their more hostile neighbors being rather eager to use AM fields. In addition, once their civilization first required more aerial firepower than a single flying Loreian mage could offer, they developed devices that would utilize the Loreian's magical abilities to power the plane, eventually redesigning this to work on spacecraft. This technology has an additional use. One of the war heroes from before they had traveled beyond their home planet had improvised during a battle, using the auxiliary propulsion systems to amplify his magical abilities and win the battle. They have since adapted the original technology for use as an amplifier. In all Loreian corvette+ ships, there are three of these amplifiers. One for shielding, one for weapons, and another for active use.
