Eric Mann stepped off the stand in Tefillin's capital, leaving his supporters cheering before the podium he'd been speaking at. He waved and smiled, making his way towards his limo, his security detail surrounding him.. Protecting him. He stepped into his limo, smiling.
Eric Mann seemed, by all accounts, to be a well-respected, patriotic Zarethian. He was honest, kind, caring. He wanted what was best for the country. He had experience in the armed services. He had a job which involved protecting the Zarethian people. He was.. A great candidate. A great.. person.
At least, that's what he wanted people to think.
The moment he stepped into his limo, there was a man wearing glasses, a hat, and a business suit sitting next to him..
"How'd it go?" the man asked.
"Smoothly," Mann replied.
"Does Hermitage know yet?"
"Just texted him."
"Then you shouldn't have any problems," the man replied.
"No," Mann agreed, "I shouldn't. My agent there is the one who preformed the attempted hit."
"The one who failed," the man replied.
"Yes.. Unfortunate. We did not account for Coalition interference. My man got sloppy."
"Yes," the man replied, "He did. But that shouldn't be a problem. Just go to the Zarethian council after the tragedy is over. You'll already be seen by the public as a helping hand to get through this grief period.. Telling the Zarethian council about the deal you made will only serve to reassure the Zarethian people."
"Yes," Mann agreed, "There is still one small problem."
"Luste," the man agreed.
"Not to worry.. He won't be a problem for too much longer. I have people on that right now."
"Good," the man replied, "Very good indeed. Goodbye, Mr. Mann."
"Goodbye.. brother."
