HUNT - An SP cameo
« on: June 20, 2011, 12:29:55 AM »
Alright, I couldn't help but jump on the bandwagon. :D
---

I hate hospitals.

Set me off like dynamite strapped tight around my waist,
We are the ones in competition but claim this ain't no race.

The repetitive sound of feet hitting the floor as the two sprinted down the hallway, a slightly tall male and a short female. The guy was dressed in what appeared to be a tailored black suit with a violet tie, his hair short and black, a spot of blond in the front. He was carrying what looked like very high caliber twin handguns, firing them at the emaciated looking beings with black drool flowing from their fang filled mouths. His own mouth was twisted in a wicked looking grin, gunfire echoed throughout the entire building.

They were ripped apart as the projectiles made contact, spewing pudding-like red blood everywhere. But there was always more, and it looked like a horde of them were following close behind them.

"Fuck me! Intelligence really dropped the ball this time! Was supposed to be a routine Pyre nest, forgot to mention that the entire hospital was full of ghouls!" The guy in the fancy suit yelled as he holstered one of his twin firearms, pulling out what looked like a metal orb, about the size of a tennis ball. He muttered something underneath his breath and a white symbol appeared on the steel, he threw it over his shoulder in a hurry. A mass of white flame ripped through the halls a few seconds later. Burning countless ghouls to redeath.

The girl however had bright pink hair, and a razor sharp katana in her hands, cutting any of the monsters before her into ribbons, half the time you couldn't even see her move. Dressed like a punk, a pink and black checkered skirt along with a white dress shirt with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows, a black tie around her neck as she beheaded one of the skinny beasts. With multiple gashes on her arms and legs she looked pissed, and the way she was mutilating her enemies, it wasn't hard to guess what she was pissed at.

Take a breath and explode like bullets tearing through the wind,
Cut me up with a razor blade that tries to separate the skin.

Both were pretty splattered with the gore they kept causing, the male's left eye seemed to be shut tightly, his own blood running freely from between the eyelids.

"Orpheus! Out the window!" The pink haired girl cried out as she increased her speed, the blade never stopped moving as she cut them a path to a window at the end of the hall.

"I'm down!" Orpheus agreed as he kept up right with her, blowing away the ghoulish looking beings with each pull of the trigger. Sometimes it looked like he only pulled it once, but it seemed like he was firing a couple dozen bullets each time he fired. Shielding their faces as they hit the window at full sprint, the glass giving way and exploding into countless shards.

It didn't take them long to realize their mistake, they were four floors from the ground, and they wasn't anything but air under them. Yeah, it was going to hurt. But as they neared the ground they seemed to slow down, and they hit the ground running.

Stopping to turn around as they watched a few ghouls get pushed out the window by the force of their ignorant brethren, eventually they stopped falling, but it was enough to cause both of them to start laughing loudly. The moonlight lit the area around them, an abandoned part of the city, dark, rusty, and dirty.

"How many did you get Hikaru?" Orpheus asked as he gingerly touched his bleeding eye, pulling it back almost instantly. A pain expression on his face.

"One hundred and sixty-two ghouls, six actual Pyres, all full-grown though. You?" The gore covered twenty and something year old woman replied, a smirk on her face as she was sure she had beat him.

"One hundred and forty-eight ghouls..and three Pyres, fledglings." He muttered as he holstered both his hand-cannons, Castor was written in gold on one, the other had Pollux written in silver. Both were forged with black steel, an unholy metal. It fit Orpheus completely, using unholy weapons to kill unholy beasts.

"Hah! I w-"

"And both the patriarch and the matriarch Pyres." His trademark carefree grin appearing back onto his face, along with his tongue slightly out to mock his partner and fellow Hunter.

"You SOB! You always go for the monsters worth the most.." Hikaru slugged her younger partner in the shoulder, he was about a few months from his nineteenth birthday. "Woah, what happened to your eye?" She asked as she took a step closer, looking at the blood continuously streaming from between his eyelids. "Oh..it's gone. The patriarch caught me off guard." Orpheus replied nonchalantly, pulling out a few empty syringes labeled "EMERGENCY DRAGON'S BLOOD."

Now in the white flames of burning flags we found a world worth dying for, yeah.
We've been battered so hard that we don't, feel anymore.

"You used your Dragon's Blood!? You fucking idiot!" Hikaru shrieked as she reached to her ear and pressed the small communicator, activating it.

"Hey! Tom! Orph used his DB supply. Yeah, he used all of it. Get a med team down here, and this place needs burnt down. Me and Orph barely got out. Oh, and get the operatives who did the intel for this assignment fired. It had a good suburbs worth of ghouls in there." Hikaru relayed the information as Orph sat down on the nearby street's curb, his hands began to shake and he started sweating profusely.

The side-effects of a DB overdose, a severe fever, followed by severe seizures, severe pain, and then a severe ass-kicking by their handler. Tom. Dragon's blood was a powerful painkiller, and also acted similar to adrenaline, although a total of four-hundred times stronger. It didn't last long, and you were supposed to be really careful with it.

"Alright Hikaru, med-team is on their way, and I'm getting reports that Orph already set the place on fire. Did you let him use a Bisho-" The sound started to fade as Orph started to lapse in unconsciousness, sliding off to his right and onto his side as he passed out. The seizures started a few minutes after that.

In the wreckage of a job well done,
I saw a place I'd never seen before, yeah.
And that moment I refused to close my eyes anymore.

Get back up.

His eye fluttered open as the bright lights above blinded it almost as soon as he opened it, closing it shut once more before covered it with his hand. The burning sensation in one, and absolutely no feeling in the other. It took Orpheus a moment before he remembered that he had lost it to a patriarch vampyre not two days earlier.

"How you holding up?" A familiar voice to his right asked as he dared open his one remaining eye slightly to see the loveable chubby friend in a stark white suit. A black tie around his neck, it was company policy that everyone wore a tie. No matter what color, or what outfit they were wearing. You weren't allowed to hunt unless you had a tie. Kaleb smiled as he saw his friend open his bloodshot brown eye and grin weakly at him.

"I'm doing pretty good. Minus the missing part, but hey. Part of the job." Orpheus replied as sat up in bed, no one else was in the room other then Kaleb, who despite being a bit younger then Orpheus he was much higher in rank. He had a gift no one else in the company had, he could talk to the higher ups, their boss's bosses.

"Don't worry about it, I think you'll look badass with an eyepatch." Kaleb laughed as smacked his friend on the back of the head a bit harder then he should've if he was playing around.

"That's for nearly ODing on dragon's blood, fucking idiot. You know that you have absolutely no tolerance for it, hell you're practically allergic. How many times do I have to tell you? Dragons were celestial entities, and you're on the other end of the spectrum. It's harmful for humans and even some of the more angelic members of the company can only handle so much. Might as well inject yourself with cyanide." Kaleb scolded his employee and old friend.

"Then stop giving me the stuff, if I hadn't taken it I would've slowed Hikaru down, and we had to sprint out of there. Couldn't of done that with two broken ribs and a missing eye without some sort of painkiller." Orpheus retorted as he gingerly touched the left side of his torso, smiling as he felt no pain.

"Healed up already, being a a demi-fiend has it's benefits. Although I can never enter a church, touch any holy artifacts, or use most of the company's equipment." Orpheus complained about his genetics, pulling out the IV from the top of his hand and the multiple other medical attachments they had him hooked up to.

"Sure you don't want the rest of the week off?" Kaleb asked as he helped Orph to his feet, it had become a common occurrence to see Orpheus in hospital gowns after every mission. Getting fucked up was his specialty, on and off the job. Although he healed quicker then anyone else in the company he wasn't indestructible, although he acted like it.

He was like most people in the company, a halfer. Only half human, the rest of him was something more supernatural. But unlike the rest of the company he was half-infernal. His father was one of the greatest fiends in the infernal realm, knocked up some whore and forgot to kill her. Would've been better on the girl if his father had, demi-fiends aren't born the normal way. They claw their way out of the womb, and Orpheus hadn't been an exception. He was picked up by the company not long after his third birthday in the orphanage, been with them ever since.

Kaleb was the exact opposite, he was a demi-arch. The son of one of the greatest celestial beings to ever walk the earth, an archangel. His mother was unable to cope with the power her son contained, she spontaneously combusted as she gave birth to him. Kaleb hadn't even gotten a slight burn from the heat, just an infant surrounded by a bunch of ash.

They were raised together, and had been childhood friends, and rivals since they could walk. But Kaleb's gift was discovered early, and he has spent nearly his entire life as the link to the higher ups.

While Orpheus had been climbing up the ranks from acolyte to full-fledged hunter in record time.
But his savage nature and habit of causing mass destruction while on the job ended up with him being partnered with Hikaru, another of the company's oddities. A demi-phoenix, she's died on the job four times and counting. She was a star hunter, never missed a target, even on the missions she had died on. All were because she had been wounded so badly she couldn't hold on till a med-team got there.

None of them knew the exact identity of their parents, and they were all on different sides of the coin.

Kaleb, a celestial halfer, the son of the an archangel.
Hikaru, an earthly halfer, the daughter of one of the greatest unaligned supernatural entities known to man.
Orpheus, an infernal halfer, the son of a demonic lord of the underworld.

They rarely agreed on anything, but they had been friends since childhood.

Just then the door opened, and a brunette woman dressed in a nurse's outfit walked in. The only person who was the exception when it came down to the tie rule, and that was because she burnt down the last infirmary when she was forced to wear a tie.

"Oh come on, you did this didn't you?" Orpheus threw up his arms in exasperation as he looked at his former girlfriend, who was also one of the best medical personal that the company had. She was used to fixing him up after missions, although it had started to get awkward when they split up.

"No, everyone else is pretty busy. Shit hit the fan after you went down. We lost nearly an entire team to a pack of were-beasts last night, the only survivor is infected. And if you're up to it, that's your next job. We need that alpha brought down. I'll see you later man, talk to Tom if you are interested in the job. Hikaru already threw her hat in." Kaleb said his goodbyes before nodding to Taylor, who had a pissed off look on her face.

"Hel-"

Craaack!

Her first made perfect contact with his jaw.

No rest for the wicked.

Her first punch had broken his jaw, the kick shattered his tibia, and the third had him rolling on the ground holding his testicles in what appeared to be a great, great amount of pain. Although she knocked him unconscious with the last blow to the back of his head, imprinting his face into the tile rather comically.

He woke up not ten minutes later, feeling completely fine, with Taylor standing over him with a concerned look in her eyes. She was a dangerous halfer. Her father had been a titan, a being known for it's great physical strength and being naturally adept at the arcane arts. Taylor specialized in healing magic, as she has always loved helping others, although she was not against breaking Orpheus every now and then.

"You did it again." Orpheus croaked as he laid in his hospital bed with his eye closed; refusing to look at her. This wasn't the first time she had ripped him a new one.

"Damn right I did you fucking idiot. A little ass kicking is better then letting you get away with what you did." Taylor retorted with venom in her voice as she turned and walked out the door, slamming the door behind her hard enough that it fell off it's hinges.

Mumbling an insult under his breath the demi-fiend stood to his feet, noticing a black bag off in the corner of the room, shuffling over to it he opened it and smiled. One of his suits and all his gear where inside, along with a note.

Hey, I walk in after Tay fucked you up. Get dressed and meet me at the rendezvous point for that were-mission, if you're feeling up to it anyway. We got stuck with Stel and Red.

- H

About an hour later

"Are we still waiting for that jackass?" A man with decent length brown hair and glasses asked, dressed in a casual gray office suit with a matching gray tie. A large sniper rifle on his back, he was sitting on the roof of a building around six hundred yards from an what looked like an abandoned slaughterhouse. It was a reported were-den, the company had recently sent a team of four in, only one came back. And he ended up infected..they put him out of his misery the moment they found the bite.

"Give him five more minutes, Taylor had her way with him again, most people don't walk after that for a few weeks." Hikaru informed as he stared out towards the den, her katana sheathed on her back. There wasn't another weapon like it in the world, and Hikaru refused to tell anyone where she got it, or what it was even made of. But it seemed to be able to cut anything.

"Why do we even need him? He's reckless, and not to mention he's kind of an arrogant bastard." A teenage boy with a black hoodie on, the hood up and somehow his face was always in a dark shadow. Even when someone shined light at his face. The only one who had ever actually seen Red's face was Stel, and he wasn't telling anyone anything. A white tie was draped out of the hoodie, completely out of place. As was the massive claymore embedded in the ground next to him.

"Well fuck you guys too." Orph announced his presence on top of the roof's entrance, dropping off and nodding towards both Stel and Red. There was a white hospital patch over his missing eye, a slight red spot that was the product of some bleeding that had happened earlier. Orph was curious at what an empty eye-socket looked like, and had cut his stitches open. Turns out it hadn't healed properly, and started bleeding nearly instantly.

"Took you long enough." Stel grumbled as he set up his rifle on the edge of the roof, he was going to provide intelligence and covering fire for the three. He was human, but he was considered the best shot by nearly half the company, the rest put their money on Orph.

"Sorry, I had a broken jaw, leg, and I'm pretty sure she broken one of my testicles open," The hunter shifted uncomfortably. "And it's not like I'm missing an eye or something, prick." Orph spat out as the three of them left Stel on the roof, they'd be the attacking force.

Storm the gates!

"Standard pincer, Red, and Hikaru are taking flanks. Orpheus is going straight up the middle, he's the bait." Stel informed over his communicator, Tom agreeing with their strategy with a simple "Good."

It was a straight eighty yard prairie before the three would even reached the official factory grounds, although the last time only got sixty yards away before the entire den swarmed out, were-beasts are well known for their territorial attitudes.
"Alright; operation is a go!" Hikaru announced over her communicator, Orph responding by sprinting towards the factory, both Casor and Pollux in his hands. Loaded with silver slugs, as was Stel's rifle.

As soon as he hit the sixty yards mark shadows started streaming from every entrance to the factory, some out of little hidey-holes around the area. They were the size of a horse but there was dozens of them, four legged savage beasts.

They were more likes wolves then they were men, but they were the victims of the Alpha's curse. If they killed the Alpha before the members of the pack, then the remaining were-beasts would be cured. But for now they were bloodthirsty animals intent on ripping the hunter's collective throats out. That's why Orph fired as they got into range, taking one down with a shot to the neck. Silver was sixty times more poisonous to them, then cyanide is to a normal human being.

It didn't take long before Orph started to fire in rapid succession, the beasts were all making a straight line towards him, at least fifty were among them. Orph was taking them down rather quickly, but they were fast, faster then he could aim and pull a trigger.

One got within range and launched itself, intent on bring the demi-fiend to the ground and ripping him apart. Only stopped by a armor piercing silver bullet whizzing past Orph's head and into heart, killing it instantly. Throwing it back a good five feet as well.

"Thanks Stellar." Orph laughed over the communicator, using Stel's nickname, one he actually enjoyed. Firing a few more shots before he shot two bullets into the air, the sign for Red and Hikaru to fulfill their part of the plan.

Appearing out of their own hiding places the two sword wielding hunters charged from the sides, taking a good amount of were-beasts down in the first few seconds. Hikaru was quicker, but Red's sword was bigger, and he was stronger. He was cleaving multiple beasts in two with single swings. It was a bloodbath, even Orph was covered in wereblood as he moved within the crowd of beasts, ducking and dodging as he countered with point blank shots to the face.

Stel was on the roof, taking a good portion of the beasts down with precision shooting, he only missed once. And that was because Hikaru cut it's head off before he could take the shot. He hit the decapitated head though, much to everyone's dismay as it exploded like a gore grenade.

In half an hour the fight was over, the grass was stained red as were the three hunters. Stel mused to himself about being a sniper, he was usually the one who DIDN'T have to go home and take a shower in gasoline just to get the sticky monster blood off. He always wondered how Orpheus kept wearing fancy suits everyday, especially with the amount of blood and other monster fluids all over him.

"Stel, we're going in to take out the Alpha, and you're coming with us." Hikaru ordered over their own personal line, Stel sighed as he shouldered his rifle and headed towards the group.

"Intelligence states that this used to be an old weapons factory, and they closed it in a hurry. Without cleaning anything up really. That means there is a lot of gunpowder and other explosive shit laying around, so we're going up close and personal." Red announced as he looked at Orph's dual handguns, a smirk on his hidden face.

"Not a problem for me." The hunter in a suit replied, rummaging in his jacket's pocket before he pulled out what looked like a small black steel baton. He muttered an incomprehensible word and it expanded into a six foot lance, the head on the end had a different sigil engraved on each side. They were infernal in origin, but they allowed for the weapon to slay things from the earthly realm, as well as the infernal and celestial.

It was an artifact that had been in the company's possession for a long, long time. Apparently it belonged to one of the founder's of the organization, someone who went by the alias Comex.

Stel showed up about twenty minutes later, a broadsword in his hands. Forged of white iron, the holy opposite to black steel. Could kill anything infernal, and earthly.

"We're going inside in ten. Separate into our respective teams. Whichever team doesn't kill the Alpha is buying drinks tonight." Hikaru announced, her katana in her hands. Her eyes a slight burgundy color, the color they always got when she was on a hunt.
