Out of Time

"Hikaru!" a voice cried out in pain and shock. The voice was familiar to Hikaru but she couldn't place it and she didn't know where it was coming from. Hikaru sprinted around a maze like room searching for the voice's source but she just couldn't find it. "Hikaru.." the voice was weaker this time and when Hikaru heard her name uttered again in a softer tone her blood froze over. The voice was weaker, more in pain, closer to...death.

"No!" Hikaru cried as she sprinted through the hallways and finally, in a fit of anger, she slammed her fist against a random wall, causing it to collapse. Sirens went off and the buzzers rang loud and clear as they echoed around the pure, stark white room and down the hallways. "Ino!" she cried in joy as she ran into the room, her face lighter than it was just seconds before when she saw her comrade.

"Hik.." Ino looked up at Hikaru from where she was suspended in midair, her body in the shape of an X, with her hands and feet contained in metal circles. "This hurts...so bad." she whined as he eyes and her head began to droop lower and lower. "Help..."

"No..." Hikaru said as she started to throw things out of the drawers and go through just about anything that was around the room. She was searching for the key that was oddly shaped and would unlock the metal hinges that locked Ino's limbs in place. If only she could find it...

"I'm sorry..." Ino whimpered as she watched her friend run around the room searching. Those were her last words before her eyes shut and her head fell limp against her chest. The monitor that recorded her heart beat, her wave lengths and just about everything else went off in a high pitched keening sound.

"No!" Hikaru cried as she heard the end of her friend's lifeline. Her heartbeat was flat. "Shit!" Hikaru yelled before she picked up a small portable tray with drawers and threw it across the room in anger. "Rrrrrgh!" Hikaru shouted in pure anger as it crashed into the opposite wall, all of its contents spilling out and onto the ground.

By then the doors had banged open and Orph and K23 had ran into the room, sweat dripping on their faces. "We need to..." K23 was about to command when he stopped running at the sight of Ino. His face was instantly drawn to the needles in her back, the wires that flowing from her spine like extensions, the tubes of blood on a table not far from where Ino was. All of the things Hikaru had overlooked when she had seen her friend. "Holy shit..." K23 gasped in awe.

"I couldn't save her..." Hikaru whimpered as she fell to her knees, cupping her face in her hands as she curled up in front of Ino on the floor. Her tears fell silently as she sobbed just as quiet, the pain obvious even if you couldn't see her face.

K23 recovered as quickly as he had fallen ill with the sight of his friend; all emotion was erased from his face as he steeled his feelings and reached his hand towards Orph. Orph, his eyes transfixed on Ino, handed over the key with no words spoken. K23 patted him on the shoulder and headed towards Ino and as he passed Hikaru by he gripped her shoulder before unlocking Ino's binds. Orph had followed silently and now the two of them watched as the binds slowly unlocked themselves, the metal grinding against one another and revealing angry red marks on Ino's appendages from where they held her. She then free fell, her entire body limp and heavy and even when Orph caught her he had to step back a little from how heavy she was; the metal bones that had been given to her years back and the simple fact that she was unconscious made her heavier than what she looked, what she should have been.

"Lets go..." K23 said softly as he knelled down next to Hikaru, squeezing her shoulders again in attempt to get her off the floor. "He had the key around his neck so there was nothing you could do."

Hikaru looked up at him, the area around her eyes a rough pink color and the color blue so vibrant it was scary. "Something went wrong..." she said. "It's all my fault." she whimpered again as fresh tears fell down her face. "I've failed her..."

"Come on." K23 said a bit harsher as he tugged on Hikaru's sleeve. "Let's go. This place is going to blow up and we need to get out of here before it decides to."

Orph, still silent, carried Ino towards the door, trying not to look at her limp and lifeless body in his arms. He tried to ignore how cold she was steadily growing, the life leaving her entirely. K23 nodded at him and so Orph kept walking, heading out of the ginormous building they had found themselves in to rescue Ino.

Hikaru needed a bit more prying from the floor but eventually K23 managed and the two of them bolted out the doors and into the bright sunlight.

"I'm going to kill that red haired bitch." Hikaru hissed as she picked up a rock from the ground, her fingers curling around it before she crumbled it to pieces, to dust. "I mean it."

Orph and K23 just looked at her without saying anything, just choosing to watch her as she paced the shoreline of a lake that K23 had teleported them to. Her face was contorted in anger and her hands were shaking; her skin kept wavering from blue to cream colored as her anger caused her to lose control of this ability. Usually her skin was blue but Hikaru fought to keep it the typical white color. Well, now it was slowly reverting back to blue in her fury. Her hair also flickered from pink to a deep, blood crimson red. Her male companions said nothing though, just watched as she fought with her powers.

"FUCK YOU." Hikaru finally shouted, her fist in the air and her eyes a deep blue color.

I wasn't going to have drama in it. I was using her simply cause her and Hikaru hate each other and I don't have another antagonist DX

Love The Way You Lie

Everyone appeared at the funeral simply for the respect and the fact that one of their own, a mutant, had fallen. For what, no one was sure, but Ino was gone now at the hands of a fatal experiment gone wrong. Hikaru had cursed at the wind about a red haired female however she wasn't the one behind this. Of course, said female wanted to cause harm to Hikaru in any possible way she could but she was currently in a prison so she had no means of going about this plan to capture mutants and harvest them for their powers.

Hikaru was standing on the edge of the six feet deep hole that was dug for Ino's body. Her casket was open and Hikaru tried hard not to cry all over again as she peered down into the darkness where her fallen friend was currently resting. Orph was standing a bit farther back with his face tilted downwards and bearing no expression. K23 was next to him, tears flowing down is cheeks but silent. He wasn't going to allow himself to sob and cry like Hikaru was clearly close to doing.

Nisorin was speaking the different Bible verses that are said at funerals and the speech he had written for his student. His voice was lulling people to keep calm as he spoke but for some reason it didn't seem to work so well on Hikaru. The crowd was silent, all of them ranging from people who either disliked or hated Ino, ones that didn't know her and never had the chance to meet her, and then those who adored her and hated the idea of her not being there anymore.

Each person got their turn but it seemed that with every written speech about the mutant everyone choked up. Hikaru was the worst as she could barely hold back her anger and sadness and the need to be snippy to not look so upset; to not appear so weak. But no one was fooled. Everyone knew that she was trying to hide how hurt she was but they bit their tongues as it wasn't the time to mess with people.

With each speech there were memories and good times. You could always count on Ino for making good times.

"I remember when we all first came here." Hikaru started out shakily. "We didn't know anything about each other except the fact that we were all in the same boat. We all were different and we had mutant powers and well...we were alone. We were different and alone and outcasts in the real world and Nisorin here took us in as if we were his own children. There are times when I bet he wishes he never accepted us into his school but even through our worst times he was there for us.

"But enough about Nisorin and how he helped us. This is about Ino, the person's funeral you all came to. Ino was a loving friend and she had her moments when she downright hated each and every one of us but in the end, she always stood by our side. Even if we did something she didn't agree on she would still be there for us in the end even when we fucked it all up. Not only was she a good friend but a good comrade. Ino always added a bit of humor no matter the mission we were on." Hikaru looked out to the crowd, her eyes tearful. "She was my best friend."

Everyone else got up and gave their speeches and then it was time to lower the casket into the ground. It took all of Hikaru's willpower to not jump in on top of the casket and it did the same for Orph but he showed it in a more controlled state. When the ceremony was over and Ino was long gone under the dirt and worms everyone left.

Back at the school, even though everyone else had appeared to move on, Nisorin knew they hadn't. Ino was always on their minds and he could feel the thoughts and even listen in on a few; they always revolved around their fallen mutant friend. Sometimes Nisorin would have to go up to his room and lock himself away to get rid of the negative thoughts that surrounded him.

A few weeks passed by and another call came forth to the lovely group of mutant superheroes and so Ino was pushed away from their minds at least for a little while.

"I swear, if it's that bitch again..." Hikaru hissed under her breath as she sprinted down one of the hallways with K23. K23 merely rolled his eyes at her.

"You do know she's in prison right now right?" he asked as Hikaru and him stopped in front of the doors to Nisorin's office. "She has been for a month and a half. She's been there way before Ino even died."

"I don't care." Hikaru stated flatly as the two of them walked into the room, her eyes straight ahead and stubborn. "She's still a bitch."

The two stood before Nisorin as he sat at his desk, his eyes imploring as he looked at the two. He merely shook his head as Orph came in a bit later, the sleep still eminent in his eyes. "I can sense high levels of mutant powers somewhere off the coast of Africa. I'm not sure what's going on..but..you know. It would be wise to go investigate it." Nisorin raised his eyebrows as if expecting them to object. "I understand that Ino is no longer with you guys but you'll have to make the best of it."

Hikaru nodded at Nisorin and quickly walked out of the room, K23 and Orph following. "He expects us to be able to "make the best of it" like...like we should act like nothing happened?" Hikaru's voice was shrill but she fought to keep it down especially when she had a blue tint appear on her skin. "I just...ugh."

"Why do we have to go...?" Orph asked, his voice soft as he looked at Hikaru and K23.

K23 merely shrugged before he looked back at his group. "Maybe he thinks it's tied in the Ino's capture." K23 raised an eyebrow, the side of his mouth lifting with it. "Who knows? Lets just go."

Orph nodded and then the three of them left.

- - -

"You've got to be fucking kidding me right now." Orph grumbled as bullets ricocheted off of any surface it seemed causing sparks to fly. His eyes scanned for the area around them but he found nothing that would help, or at least it didn't seem that way.

"Go!" K23 shouted at Orph from where he stood, hidden behind a smoldering car. He glared at Orph from where he knelled, his eyes furious. "Hikaru and I can hold them off, we need someone to get in there!"

"Right." Orph said before he darted towards the building they were trying to get into. Bullets were fired and aimed towards him but they were all deflected with a mere flick of his hands.

"Hikaru!" K23 yelled when Orph had managed to get into the door.

Said pink haired girl jumped over a low wall that was crumbling and, with her hand in a fist, she punched the ground; a heat wave came roaring out of it and knocking the nearby buildings over and causing them to crash and crumble except for the one that was important. Her skin was flashing between cream colored and blue and her eyes were a deep crimson color. When her fist smashed the ground her hair lit up like a fire adding more heat to her wave. "Ino! Go!"

This was usually the time in which Ino would leap out from behind where Hikaru stood and flash her claws like a sword collector and her knives and her chirpy and happy voice even in the dullest moments. When Hikaru realized that Ino obviously, and clearly, wasn't going to pop out of the earth she felt a pang in her chest. Without missing a step K23 jumped from where he was hidden and protected, tackling Hikaru and rolling her into a ball inside of his body and the two rolled away behind a random bus. He didn't even stop to ask if she was okay or anything as he jumped up from the dirt and started shooting small blades towards any enemies left from Hikaru's fire.

Orph walked down the cold hallways his feet making slight padding noises as his shoes had been burned off when Hikaru did her Phoenix wave. It was quiet, too quiet, and it had an awkward feel to it. He didn't like it, at all, and he had a sneaky suspicion he would get caught...somewhere. Somehow. Orph's hairs stood on end and he felt his ears prick at the slightest sound.

Shit was going to hit the fan.
