EDIT: wait, I saw sage 3 and thought magic level 3. What does it actually mean?
As you may know, this RP actually started in 2006 under the name of Opposing Kingdoms. Hawkeye, Hikaru, Kai, and myself are some of the original RPers from there, along with Ino and Lyoko222 and a few others you might know. The RP originally took place several thousand years before the current time of the RP. There were not empires originally but small kingdoms.
There were actually three main kingdoms, led by three sages. Hikaru was the sage of fire, a wild Phoenix who saw herself as evil, and wanted nothing more than to rule the entire dimension. Kai was the black dragon sage, a somewhat manipulative and often side-crossing magic user, very powerful but often times unpredictable. K2323 was the white dragon sage, a somewhat naive magic user who, while powerful, often got the three into a lot of trouble. While the three often fought over their kingdoms, they were, above all... Siblings.
Over the years, the three dominated most of the dimension, fairly unopposed and well known to all. They unlocked powerful magic secrets, discovered missing pieces of information of their past, and maintained their kingdoms throughout constant peril or adventure. The adventures that took place in this exciting first saga of the RP we know today as Shattered Planes was ever so unpredictable, and the characters went through it all. Their actions would determine the course of things to come for hundreds of years. They, quite frankly, changed history.
They had to put up with a lot in that first saga of the RP, though. Threats such as the White and Black Genesis Negi, Jikore, Chaos, Assassin, Zere, and Zirridian made the RP ever so hectic. They fought against many of the same criminals and evil that would go on to form the Anrufe, as well as other theats which they never dreamed they would have to face. Somehow, they survived it all. Their incredible power and leadership skills earned them a legendary status throughout most galaxies and universes of the dimension.
Some fifteen to twenty years ago IC, the Sage Three kingdoms crumbled when they left the dimension for a decade, all due to various reasons. The sages were not originally from the dimension, and with them gone, the humans and other non magic races took the dimension back. The next decade was an era of space development which had pretty much halted over the last mellinium. Ships from various factions once more took to the stars. New empires developed to fill the gapping power hole left by the departure of the sages who had ruled the dimension.
While the sages eventually returned, the Sage Three have never completely retaken their former domain. They have tried a few times to overtake the mortal empires (the First Sage War, which was RP'd back in 2007, and the Second Sage War which was RP'd last year), but they still remain without full control. Still, many know of them and their incredible power which they have achieved over the years. They are, to this day, some of the most skilled magic users in existence.
So where are the Sage Three today? K2323 is currently leading a small group of warriors against the embodiment of Anarchy, the grandfather of the Sage Three. Hikaru has recently vanished, and nobody knows where she is, or if she is even alive. Kai is growing old, near death, after a year of being a slave to the embodiment of Anarchy. The Sage Three truly have gone through a lot, and needless to say, they still are kicking and well.
Even when they die, their children and grandchildren will take their place. K2323 has two sons and two grandchildren. Kai has one son. Hikaru has a daughter and two sons. It's only speculation, of course, but the next generation may be the ones to take the place of their parents and once more reclaim power throughout the dimension. Has the world yet to see the children become powerful? Can we expect a Sage Six someday?
There is no way to tell, of course. Still, the Sage Three have made a name for themselves.
