Djinn One: Mission Failure.
« on: August 08, 2011, 04:36:37 AM »
Caliph hit the Bridge wall with a tight fist as The Xuna appeared outside the solar system of Autumnavia. He lamented the failure of his mission. The ships he had brought just were not the force he needed. The loss of such a number of his own kind, the Qu itself having housed thousands of inactive Gem... thousands of lives. He had his crew set the destination of home. Thinking of how he was going to write his report, and of the lives his arrogance cost his race.

Three Zareth Olympian class super capitol ships warped into the system, having tracked the FTL coordinates. They opened fire with their multiple pulse cannons. An anti frigate cannon would rip a hole through most ships, sucking the interior into the vacuum threw a small hole while leaving it dead due to the EMP blasts.

OOC: It was a random jump, there were no coordinates to track. Also, it already left this system.

The Xuna was long gone. The capitals fired at nothing.

OOC: I can track the destination through the direction it went or any other number of means. Also, I call BS because that gives no way to respond to the action.

OOC- Zak is correct. In your first post, you never said anything about them getting ready to leave, or spinning up FTL drives. The Zarethians are also a quite advanced Race, meaning that they can track random FTL jumps fairly easily.

For Canon purposes, the Zarethian ship should've came out of slipspace right after the the Dijon one due to the fact that the 3 day rule didnt take effect. Grue's leaving post is nulled. Please repost your response Grue.. [/end OOC]

As the ships opened fired onto the Xuna, Caliph issued a last minute order. The Crew and payload disappeared in a brief flash of light, the Xuna's multiple reactors ejected from the ship via computational commands, each being used to obliterate the Xuna into null disassociated dust. The fire from the enemy vessels contaminating it further, But this point, even kind of scan couldn't even reconstruct the paint job on the Xuna much less anything more complex...

The crew and payload of the Xuna were now on Autumvania spread across the landscape. Seeming nothing more then harmless gems, even the most advanced scientific studies would show them to be maybe a emerald, or a ruby. Their true appearance would give no indication of their origins. Caliph the emerald sank gently into a puddle in a unnamed forest, Dormant... for now.

The Djinn landed mostly on the uninhabited areas of the planet, Autumnavia still being mostly uncivilized. They would find themselves in a dark forest, crunchy leaves at their feet, crickets chirping, and other miscellaneous wild life out and about. They wouldn't find many hostile animals. Some ended up closer to a swamp, where mysterious Will O' Wisps flashed in the distance, a hail of different colors. The closest ones were about five miles from the nearest village, and, though scattered through entirely different areas, they all had the feeling that they were being watched.

OOC: Just so you know, they have no feet right now. Their in their true form. They are basically gems. Only those that landed in water could take humanoid form.

The lucky few of the Marid that landed in water collected it surround them in a gelatin mass. Maybe a couple hundred individual out of thousands. At first confusion washed over them. Realizing this was not the planet they were trained to infiltrate. By the operation paradigm, they were supposed to group up, now in unknown territory and consult the Commander. For their next step. Not doing anything to alert or upset the locals. Considering the environment, the few hundred Marid took on the form of Crows instead of a humanoid form. Flying out looking for more of their fellow Marid who did not fall into water, to take them to a water source.

Caliph found himself in a puddle in a forest, as he sank to the bottom he collected it around himself. Eventually taking on the form of an over-sized Raven. Flying about he sent vibrations through the air, alerting his fellow Marid to his location and his plans to find a large clearing with a near by water source. Caliph went searching for just such a location.

A bolt of lightening struck not far away, although it was a perfectly clear night with no indication of a storm. They would still feel like they were being watched, although not even their crow forms would see anything out of the ordinary.

The Marid gathered up their comrades who had not fallen in water, taking them by beak to a source of water. Be it pond, lake, puddle or swamp the Marid flying as crows in flocks grew in number until the thousands of Marids that were the payload of the Xuna were all now active and taking the form of Crows. The strike of lightning put them on a certain sense of somber caution. To them, this place felt alive and steeped in more... primal knowledge. The ever inquisitive side of the Marids only wanted to study this place. However, whatever they were going to do now was up to Caliph.

Caliph flew distinguished in his over-sized Raven form. Still lamenting the loss of his Comrades... those under his command in their failed mission. At the moment his primary concern was regrouping and thinking on exactly kind of planet they had found themselves on. The air itself felt like it had eyes, as the Marid followed his silent orders, finally having found a good clearing surrounded by long dead ancient oak-like trees. The clearing could contained many times the number of them then there actually was. Caliph himself landed gracefully in its center right as the lightning struck. His Raven form shifted, into a vaguely humanoid. Inky blank with fiery streaks of orange over the entirety of the forms body.  A toothy mist like mouth opened in simulated breathing. Being a Marid Caliph had no read to breath, so the motion was jerky and a bit uncanny valley. As Scores of his fellow Marid arrived at the clearing, landing in an ever growing circle around Caliph.

A dozen pair of wings darted overhead, whatever they were they had been traveling too fast to make out, but they had clearly been big birds, if that's what they were. Finding themselves closer to the swamps after searching for water, the Will O' Wisp activity seemed to pick up,  more dazzling colors flickering in the distance. Between the wings and the lights, the feeling got more intense. They had unwittingly moved closer to the village, the clearing being about three and half miles from it.

The Marid finished gathering in the clearing. Thousands of them in crow form surrounded Caliph's strange humanoid silhouette in a large circle. Each silent as Caliph thought for a while about the best course of action. This world felt alive, with no idea where the Xuna had went in its random FTL jump. The Marid here had no way home, no infrastructure to build another ship. In the best words, they were screwed three times to Sunday. So Caliph decided to test his theory formed by the sensation this world gave him.

His humanoid forms mist like mouth open and in a reverberating deep tone, his voice rang from him. "I can feel you are here. We have no violent intentions for your planet. We ask..." for a moment he wasn't sure if this was the best action. However something told him Caliph may never see home again. "That we be allowed to peacefully inhabit this clearing, for an unknown amount of time. We will do out best to learn and adhere to your ways. Setting up a low-environmental impact settlement."

The rest of the Marid resigned themselves to what was obviously their Commander's decision. Not a single one of them harbored any idea of mutiny against it, having already lost enough in this mission. All that remained was if Caliph's theory was right, and if the locals were satisfied in this proposal.

The wings were heard in the distance, flying slower, as the flying creatures came close and landed in a V-formation in the clearing. What landed... Might have come as a surprise. A dozen beautiful women stared at the collection... Each seeming very similar and yet each slightly distinct from the rest, beautiful in their own right. They all had large, raven like wings on their backs, sharp talon like nails, and dark black hair. They wore very little clothing, ivory white skin exposed, well black feather covered them up some, in addition to the odd bits of clothes that some of them wore, they were still very much exposed, three of them not covering their breasts in the slightest.

A sweet scent came from them, and warm, seductive smiles with flickering blue, green, and black eyes.  The one in front of the V, wearing a mini skirt and odd black leather shawl, stepped forward with a voice like honey.
"Weary travelers, welcome to our world... You may stay as long as you like, but we beg you spend the night with us." She said, winking suggestively as her eleven comrades stared all the more interested at the rest of the band.

The Succubi... Agents of the Grand Revoker, acting on a brash whim like they usually did.

The Marid did not have gender, or even the concept of attraction. You see Each of these Marid gems were spawned from one of two active Parent Gems. Yet, with a certain innate sense of thirst for any kind of knowledge, twelve Marid within the group took on a masculine twist on the Succubi?s appearance. Stepping forward and taking the Succubi up on their offer silently, by stadnign next to them.

Caliph remained in his strange mist like humanoid form, nodding casually, ?Understood, those of the Marid that wish to stay the night with you can. If you do not mind however, the rest will get started on building the settlement here. Myself would like to visit? any settlements you have here. To get an understanding of the local culture, you see.?

The leader sauntered up to the mist, her hips speaking volumes.
"Oh, I wouldn't worry about that just now..." She reached out to the mist. "I'd worry more about what we're going to do tonight..." Although one of his crew had approached her, she had her eye set on the leader.

Caliph eyed the leader of the succubi that showed up, you see a Marid doesn't have any of the normal faculties of most races. Even their disguises were just that, illusions. So the 'sweet' scent that came from these women had no effect. The twelve that did decide to go with them, did so out of only innate curiosity and not because of any irrational baser instincts.

Caliph maintain is immaterial mist like form, its inky black color fading into the night, only the flame like moving orange streaks to make Caliph stand out from the flock of thousands of Marid in the form of crows. Caliph's uncanny Vally movements emitting a reverberating tone, taking the form of words "Tonight, I will be ensuring what is left of those under my command and mourn those who died. Either I will visit one of your settlements or remain here to over see the construction of the settlement here. If you will, you may remain and observe. However, that will be the extent of it."

The Succubus looked disappointed... But she backed off, walking back to the one who had already come to her and taking his hand.
"Alright girls... Let's bring them home." She said, and they giggled in return. They took to the skies on their wings, expecting their... companions to follow.

The twelve that had taken, a masculine variation of the Succubi appearance followed as expected. Curiosity being fulfilled as they studied their movements as only the inquisitive mind can. Thanks to still being rather light on water, these Marid could gain flight by flapping this illusion wings. The rest got to work, beginning to take on strange forms and shapes as they tirelessly gathered building materials and in ways that would knock Henry Ford's socks off began the assembly of their settlement.

All the wile, Caliph over saw the project. Giving direction here and there as needed. He did make good on his word. Building only a peaceful settlement, no military infrastructure being built. The project went along fine, as Caliph internally mourned the loss of such a vast number of his own people. Those who were under his command, and in the end their mission was a failure. The heart of a powerful empire did not have a single Marid infiltration. He could only hope that he could ensure a good life here, for those who had survived.

After a half an hour of flying, the head Succubi started to descend in a clearing where a wonderful purple yurt tent was pitched. It was enormous, like a circus tent. She landed gracefully near the opening, the others following.

During that half-an-hour the Marid in the clearing were making amazing progress on their settlement construction. The outline of building's support structure starting to be noticeable. Caliph was deep in the process of making sure everything was going well and that no mistakes were made in the construction. It wasn't something he was used to but in this half-an-hour he was starting to get in the flow of these things.

The twelve Marid that went with the sucubi followed them into the tent, looking around curiously. Obviously this strange world and culture fascinated them collectively.

The yurt opened to a courtyard which was surprisingly empty. The Succubi began to separate into rooms secured by wood frames on the sides, each taking of the Marid with them. They gripped their arms playfully, pulling them away smoothly.

The twelve Marid let themselves be led into the separate rooms, now each alone with a succbi.

The settlement was almost done, the thousands of Marid working without need of rest under the direction of Caliph had finished all but a few finishing details of their settlement. The Marid could sustain this settlement for a few thousand years, only needing a bit of water and having a rather long lived life span. Caliph hoped to find a way back home, but for now he had to accept the need to house and sustain those under his command. He still had questions about just what kind of world this was, and what dangers it may pose to the Marid to live here.

The rooms were all exquisitely furnished, though not very large. Comfortable silk sheets and soft down pillows covered the rooms, with some personally different directions in each. Though the curtains were thin, magic surrounded the room, sealing off all noise between them. The Succubi settled the Marid on their comfortable beds, sitting with them with their arms around them. They began to enter into polite conversation. The leader, with her own Marid, asked him softly,
"What is your world like, stud?"
