Yeah, I'm updating Blood Dragons again, because what I have in store for Zerker when I take charge of him again may very well require it.
This time, Blood Dragon Evolution. It's a concept I played around with whenever I tried to think of where to take Zerker when I finally begin RPing with him again. And to do that, I decided to look at my other character, Faotemaru's story, and what made him interesting enough that I stuck with him for what felt like years.
The whole purpose of Faote's story was quite literally self growth. From being an Alchemist who wanted to kill Zere because he thought he killed his family to being a 'father' of several homunculi and the Embodiment of Heat was a massive growth in character, and it took a long time for it to manifest. But one thing in particular that stuck was RPing with Faote early on when I first made him. He didn't sit around in a Space Station, hiding away from a character that may or may not be hunting for him, and waste his life away behind a desk, no, in the original OK, Faote was doing things to improve his growth, often making leaps and bounds in his discoveries.
He also took over some places. Yeah, I did territory acquisition for a while. From a lowly human, slowly building his way to Alchemist to a magical being, and then from there to a powerful person which then finally rebirthed into becoming an Embodiment. That was some character growth and development that I wish I could apply to all my characters. And most of you know when I make stuff, I make the base to do just that, but apparently there has been some dis-communication with myself since apparently none of my newer characters are growing or making any sort of impact anywhere.
So, to get set for my start back into SP, I'll be making this character development for Blood Dragon characters a tad easier, particularly Zerker, but again anyone with a Blood Dragon classified character (IE. None of you.) has these same parameters added.
Blood Dragon Evolution is the process of a Blood Dragon character adapting to his/her environment at high speeds, and making permanent changes to their body to facilitate these new mechanisms to protect them. Much like how primates supposedly evolved to have opposable thumbs so they could easily grab objects, or how many wolves, bears, and other such mammals have fur coats to adapt to cold environments, Blood Dragons evolve in the same way.
Just speed that process up a lot. That, and you don't have to wait until the next generation to see said changes.
Say a Blood Dragon got into a fight with a Magic user. The magic user is really adept in Thunder magic, so he spams his thunder magic all over the place and hits the Blood Dragon with it. Blood Dragon Evolution does not take place within the same time frame of battle (There is a way, but it's risky.). However, because the blood of a Blood Dragon is kinda special, and they do all sorts of crazy stuff with it, the blood remembers what kinds of attacks the organism it was inhabiting was hit with.
Later on, most likely after the battle, the Blood Dragon's blood will begin to apply changes to the body to make it more resistant to thunder-type attacks through Blood Magic. This process is usually automatic, and takes about a few days, give or take.
The process of allowing these changes to take place in the middle of battle, however, is different. For the Blood Dragon's body to make changes immediately and apply whatever resistances it has, the Blood Dragon must expel all of their blood in their body, and allow new blood to produce. Since Blood Dragons can produce actual blood at high speeds, such a thing is very possible, but it's also dangerous. Despite that the character is a Blood Dragon, if their body depends on their blood to deliver nutrients and such to organs, such a quick evacuation of blood may prove detrimental to the character's health, and may cause them to become unconscious at the loss of so much blood so suddenly. If a Blood Dragon were to do this, they must be quick with expelling their blood and replacing it. If they succeed, such changes due to Blood Dragon Evolution takes place in literally seconds.
The more times a Blood Dragon 'evolves,' the more they start to look like, well, a dragon. Characters can keep these appearances from showing up if they're magically adept, but it might not be so great for the body's evolution. Even if they do this, though, the changes their body was supposed to make will show up in the ZEAL and Ascension forms. But, if the character doesn't halt these appearances and lets them grow, they'll eventually look like an actual Dragon. You know, those massive scaly things that breath fire.
That's the only thing I wanted to tack onto Blood Dragons. Again, Blood Dragons are a free race, almost any character can become one (Yes, even hawk's. >> ), aaaand.. yeah. Unlike before though, if you want to make one of your existing characters a Blood Dragon, you no longer need my permission and whatnot; just go ahead and do it IC. They'll grow into their abilities at a pace that (I hope) you deem appropriate.
