A Merchant Life indeed.
« on: January 10, 2012, 12:43:47 AM »
A small fleet of Marid Merchant vessels dropped out of FTL just in range of K city. There were here for their bi-monthly arrival for trading their wares. Having made an agreement of trade with the K Empire, The Marid Collective entered the system with a certain kind of jolly, that comes from finally being ready to sell you new grand selection of merchandise.

In addition to the Merchants, a messenger was on board for the Leader of the K empire, to merely invite him to tea with Salahiem.

The Marid were directed to their usual docking bays over the Foreign Affairs Station, where Kaleb Tyris, emperor of the K Empire, was awaiting to meet with the Marid, as he typically did on these days. He was quite fascinated with them. The trade relations between the two were always beneficial. The K Empire had various natural resources, magic, and information. The Marid had much to trade as well. This was the staple of modern life -- allies and enemies.

The ships docked with the Foreign Affairs Station, the Marid funneling out into customs, then onto sell their wares to the locals. A number of transport creates contained what the Marid Collective was trading directly with the K empire for Resources, magic books, and of coarse information for defense and for future trade partners.

The messenger went immediately to see Kaleb Tryris, asking the guards when he would be allowed an audience with the Emperor.

Ah, the grand art of trade! It was on this system that the universal economics system worked! There had been a time, before Kaleb Tyris had took the reigns as leader of the K Empire, that the universe had operated on a different currency, one his father had gained plenty of experience in working with. The credit. But the credit, in which long ago all trades were commenced with, had declined in value so sharply as a result of the war. It had collapsed, and now, the K Empire -- like most empires -- engaged in direct trade.

That's what they were doing here, today, with their good allies, the Marid. As shipments were unleashed from the starships and trade commenced among merchants and government alike, there was a feeling of optimism in the air. The K Empire was lucky enough to still trade with one or two empires. However; many of their contacts had been broken eight years ago. It was through these one or two trades a month that the K Empire survived. They could gain resources that were not automatically available to them.

The messenger was escorted to an Observation Deck overseeing the entire trade operations on all loading docks. There, smug at a table with two chairs and glasses, already filled with herbal tea imported from Earth, sat Kaleb Tyris, a smile on his face. He stood as the messenger was led into the room, bowing in a traditional, international greeting.

"It's an honor to invite you into my Kingdom. Please, sit."

The messenger sat, and bowed his head in respect. "Emperor Kaleb, I have a letter from Chancellor Salahiem. I was instructed to give it to you and answers any questions you have afterwords. The messenger passed over the letter that was closed by Salahiem's seal.

Emperor Kaleb Tyris,

You are invited to tea on the Marid Colony A with Chancellor Salahiem.

He read the letter and nodded his head at the messenger, standing at once, a look of delight on his face. "Tell your master," he said simply, "I graciously accept his invitation for tea, and shall arrive quite soon."

With this reply met, he folded the letter and put it in the pocket of his royal robes, turned, and swiftly left, off to prepare for tea.
