In the Valley of the Dying Sun
« on: January 31, 2012, 02:19:59 PM »
They had it down to a system, and the three were already underground. Felix had felt it first. He had been watching, waiting, and UnStellar had told him to. They had established "Ley Lines" through the planet that acted as warning systems to them. When they tapped in to the root of the Lines, they could feel an experience magic movements planet wide. He had been tracking UnStellar through one of the Ley Lines, and as soon as Zere appeared the lines went crazy. That's when they went under, him, Kailey, and Julia, whom they had swore to protect. Though the valley was well hidden, the power of the Mazheek could still be detected in one were to try hard enough, and the soil acting as an insulator was more then enough to leave zero signature, unless they were right on top of them. The three sat in uneasy silence in the earthen shelter, Julia worried the most.
"What's happening? Will he be okay?" She asked.
"They have a AM field up, and it looks like they have the newcomer trapped. I don't recognize the signature, it's weak. It feels... Wrong. It's not natural magic." Felix said, calculating.
"They can synthesize magic? That's a scary thought." Kailey worried.
"An AM field? Can... Can he do anything about that?"
Kailey and Felix exchanged a knowing smirk, and replied simply,
"Yes. Yes he can."

"It's heating up out there." Felix observed.
"That's for damn sure. It's not going to be safe here much longer, especially if the Anrufe try to destroy this place." Kailey responded, exasperated.
"Take Julia to Tefillin." Felix said smoothly.
"What? No! I want to stay here." Julia objected. Felix faced her, a somber look on his face.
"We can't let you stay, Julia. UnStellar wouldn't allow it. He'd be glad if you left, trust me. At this rate the whole planet might go up in smoke, but not if UnStellar has anything to say about it. I'm going to help him, you stay with Kailey."
"I want to stay! To feel like I'm doing something."
"You won't be doing anything but making things worse but putting yourself in danger. By clearing out you will make it easier for us all. Tefillin will be safe, even if they could find you." Julia got red in the face, desperately wanting to object, but she couldn't, resigning herself to a nod. Kailey grabbed her hand.
"Go to the Club. Tell Archer you're in trouble, he'll keep you safe. Don't leave her side Kailey." The two shared a nod. Though they protected her for UnStellar, the two had grown quite fond of her in the past several years and didn't want anything to happen to her. The two vanished as Felix kept his concentration on the Ley lines, waiting for a time to strike.

No

All over the message this could be heard as the bomb the Anrufe had sent into the core would be absorbed into a portal. The portal would lead into the sun and that would be the ending of that bomb.

You shall not destroy this planet

Felix opened a simple portal leading straight to the club on Tefillin. Through the rift, half of a room was seen, a long table with chairs. It was however, empty.
"Kailey?" He asked, worried, "Julia?"
A couple of seconds went by and the two appeared, coming around the sides of the portal. Felix stared at them in amused exasperation.
"...You really need to get better at those." Was all Kailey said. The duo stepped on to the table and through the portal, but Felix stopped them.
"No. Not yet, Julia." She glared angrily at him.
"The hell I'm not staying here!" But Felix held her there.
"We're going to check with your Stellabella first. The fight may not be over yet. Stay here at the club, get some whiskey, talk it up with Archer for a while. We'll send for you as soon as we know it's safe." Felix said reassuringly.
"Hell no! Kailey, back me up on this!" She was met with her firmly shaking her head. "Felix is right."
Julia dark purple eyes flickered with energy, but Felix cut her off by shutting down the portal. The two stood in silence for a second.
"Ouch." Was all Kailey could say.
"Yep. She'll kill me the next time she sees me."
"Probably."
"But not as badly as UnStellar would have if we'd have taken her. I don't think it's over yet. That Anrufe fighter hadn't even started yet... I think he went for backup."
"And I think it's high time we showed them how we fight in Mazheeka." The two clasped hands with cheesy grins, and said simultaneously,
"Cloak & fuckin' Dagger, baby." And then, they vanished.
