If anyone see's another member request something that has a rip in it from a popularly known fiction or hell, even an uncommon or rare one. SPEAK UP and tell a staff member. If it goes further than being just a derivative, we need to know. You cannot expect us to know every fiction work out there. There's some things we individually don't watch, read, or play, and therefore would not recognize in a request.

If you see a rip, report it.

This comes from the fact we've had a rip on the board for ages. Now thanks to an anonymous tip off we know it's a rip but can do nothing about it since it's in the storyline. This is because someone failed to report what they knew about it and expected staff to already know it's a rip. Please do not let this happen again.

Can I please point to AI Delta's rant in Violet. Lyoko specifically quotes several things from the Halo series. Thats not mentioning past rips like Thel Valdemee (The Arbiter) and stuff like that... and ship names that are ships from the Halo books. Halo is awesome but thats just...

Its not referencing! You're ripping the lines directly out of Cortana's mouth, the gravemind's quotes, things that THOSE authors came up with. One or two would be fine but there are sooooo many....

I'm simply saying that it is very poor form for a writer to simply copy and paste another person's work into something of theirs. Its called pastiche, taking something and putting it in yours.
I know Halo is awesome and they have had great lines but come ooon dude, its not like this is something new! You've BEEN doing this. Glassing beam, for example, not to mention almost every ship...

I don't care about the damn disclaimer I just want you -and anyone else who might do the same- to stop ripping quotes and names and everything from other things!
It just shows your own lack of creativity and I find it annoying, as do, I think, Hiro and Orga-trap.

I think it's be okay for a few references but not like every 10 posts or something with another quote from the same games and whatnot. Something like "Thisquotefromsomeguyonthisgame" every once in a while.

Lol now in all honest that quote wasn't really that good.

Also does the name matter? I mean sure you have Halo names, but if they are not the actually thing like on Halo then it should be fine. I know rips are bad, but names are name. Lets face it. Most of our names come from something. Like Logan comes from the many Logan's before me. And Hikaru could be considered to come from Hikaru no Go (Not saying you ripped it, so please don't start.) and so on. Lets face it names are names. Now if the name and what it is and it's description match then we know it is an actual rip and that is bad.

Yeah, the first time I ever saw the name Hirau, it was a blue haired lego man. Also, Asura's (embodiment of time) Wrath? There are a lot of names that appear in other places than shattered.

Except I didn't name my characters after those... Asura is a sanskrit word and also the queen of Heaven in a different spelling. Hikaru means 'bright' or 'to shine' in Japanese. Hell if you want to accuse that, both Rin and Kuro are names from Ao No Excorcist, Kuro being the demon cat and Rin being the main character Satan's son. But I didn't get them from that either... Kuro means black in Japanese, Rin was short for Sirin.

And Kurai means 'gloomy, dull, and dark' in Japanese, the opposite of Hikaru.
