Ghost Strings [Ship]
« on: February 10, 2012, 01:39:13 PM »
[This is just a go-to topic for things relating to the Ghost Strings ship. The ship isn't a territory, but at the same time, it isn't just anything to be forgotten and only mentioned every once in a while. So rather than making a bajillion topics for the same place that is probably going to get a lot of use, it'd probably be better to make one single topic to dedicate all the posts related to it.]

[Expect a double post sometime later.]

Ship description

The Novierian Ship, Ghost Strings, is a ship designed by the Novierian known as Synthe, one of the last Novierians of his kind. Synthe tends to wander space and commit random acts of piracy against those that probably deserve it with this ship. He practically lives on this thing. And even though he's really the only one that was on it for the longest time, Synthe is able to pilot it to it's full potential by himself with his ESP and Magic powers, also a nod to traditional Novierian Design. Despite it being fully operational with only one person, there are not only separate stations for different crew, but also quite a few different living quarters as well for others if other characters just so happen to join in on Synthe's journies. It is technically Corvette Class, with the size of about 3.5 white houses. The ship has various amounts of weapons, ranging from energy, particle weapons to Novierian weapon technology via ESP. But, one of the ships strongest points is it's shielding, packing almost all the capabilities of the infamous Novierian shielding technology back when Novier was still a territory. But, it boasts possibly the most important aspect for a Novierian in this day and age, which is a re-linker. With Migaitt destroyed, no doubt many Novierians are without their god-like building abilities, and if any so happen to be picked up by this ship, they may link themselves to a planet, sun, moon, dwarf star, black hole, etc.

Currently housing:
Synthe
Zerker
2 suspended lifeforms in medical bay (Derp Yggatte and Slingah.)

"... and this is where you will be staying. As of this moment, I have no real qualms as to when you wake and sleep, so feel free to go about the ship as you please." Synthe explained to the Blood Dragon via telepathy, as the two just began their tour of the rather large ship. Although it was large, there wasn't much space for going between rooms and sections of the ship. Rather, most of the rooms Synthe had shown the young dragon had been living areas.
"Is that it? You don't need help with anything?" Zerker questioned, feeling that he'd feel rather left out if the Novierian did all the work.
"No. This ship is of Novierian Design, it's not uncommon for ships of this class or higher to be piloted by only one Novierian. Even now, I'm maintaining most of the ship's primary functions with my mind alone. I can make it run itself, but I like to have a tight handle on it." Synthe replied with telepathy once more, ensuring that the Blood Dragon understood as much as he possibly could about the ship.
"... But what if you're away, and you need someone else to pilot it?" Zerker posed the question, but immediately, Synthe had an answer.
"That should not be necessary for a while. For the time being, the ship Ghost Strings is a transport shuttle armed for self defense. That is how our ship signature has us listed as whenever we dock. The time when we must raise our blade for other matters will come later. But for now, there is no need. I will instruct you when the time comes." Synthe stated, and began to leave the room. "Come, there is more of this ship for you to see. If anything, I do want you to be familiarized with the layout." Synthe added, and with no real reason to object, Zerker followed.

"Where's this?" Zerker posed the question once more, possibly the fourth time while on this tour.
"This is the medical bay. Normally, I'd just show you where the first aid kit is, but there is something else I must show you. Perhaps you can enlighten me on their condition." Synthe explained, leading him around a corner to a number of cryo-pods, 10 to be exact. All of them had screen, lit with a bright green with the text "VACANT".

There were two, however, that shown a variety of stats, values, various X-Rays...
"I found these two adrift in space. They appear to have survived a great ordeal, and whatever they have suffered, I can't seem to revive them through conventional nor technological means." Synthe explained to Zerker, walking over to one in particular. "This one is human, just like you. ... yet, I feel a great power welling in him, very similar to the one I found him with. It's a power unlike yours, so I doubt he may be a blood dragon, but there is cause for concern. The damage done to this man seems not only physical and mental, but spiritually as well. I've done my best to repair his body, but his spirit and mind will have to recover themselves in the meantime. On the other hand..." Synthe telepathed to the dragon, turning to the other pod containing a wolf-like life form. "... This one is a being I have never seen before in my life. My equipment couldn't originally pick up on his vitals, because it seems he.. well, has none. He seems to be a product of spirit, and other cosmic substances found only in celestial bodies like the stars, moons, and other objects of the like. I don't know the damage done to him, but I feel that he might not have lasted much longer if I didn't find these two. It might have been possible he was keeping this human alive, but I have not a clue." Synthe explained all of it, and looked towards Zerker. "Might you have any idea how to go about fixing these two?"

Zerker looked at the two, almost in disbelief in what he heard. One, a human, but different, and another an entirely different race...? He hadn't cared at all for humans, yet... what made this one special? Why did this mysterious creature risk his life to ensure the human's safety?
"I don't know. I'm not skilled in anything relating to medicine or any fields related to doctoring." Zerker replied honestly, almost feeling guilty that he could do nothing. He could feel the bloodflow of the human, so he was alive, but the wolf felt dead to him, yet, at the same time, he could feel it's spirit almost radiating throughout the room, as if a certain number of colors seemed to flood the area.
If Novierians could sigh, now would be the time for one to do so. But, Synthe could not, so he settled with focusing his attention back at Zerker. "I see. I didn't expect you to be able to, but I want you to know that we're not the only ones on this ship. If either of them emerge and prove hostile, I give you permission to stop them by any means necessary." Synthe explained to the Blood Dragon, before turning to leave the medical bay.

"Hey, Synthe..." Zerker asked, the two traveling to their next room on the tour. "I never got to ask. Where are we headed?"
The Novierian looked at him only briefly, still maintaining his pace, and returned to looking forward down the short hallway. "At this moment, we're finding someone that can deal with the two we have in the medical bay. It must be excruciating for them to remain like that, hanging on only by what remains of their spirits. Possibly a doctor for the human that is well versed in his arts, and possibly someone of the wolf's own kind, if such a thing is possible. I was thinking of going to the Mechara capital to see if I could find a merchant that may be selling a cure for them. Or Inarin, to see if the Templars that recently took hold of the place can reverse what the two have done to them. Or Elmora. At this point, any location that doesn't fire upon us entering their sector is a good location as any." Synthe explained, finally reaching the end of the hallway. He knocked twice on the wall, and at once, the wall revealed to be a secret door. The two walked inside.
"What do you mean fire upon you? Did you do anything to them?" Zerker questioned, but Synthe only shook his head.
"Not yet. There are far too many factions that would rather see everything before them cower under their iron fist rule. So many that, in fact, the places I can name that we can safely travel to are very, very few. The safest, False Heaven, was destroyed because of these power hungry factions." Synthe telepathed, before stopping suddenly. And with a quick command from his mind, the interior of the room they entered lit up.

The place was enormous. It was nothing like the living quarters or the regular rooms that the crew would stay in and service. It was, quite literally, thousands of engines, power generators, parts to keep the ship running... it was an engineer's heaven. "This is the main interior containing much of the essential parts needed to run the ship, Ghost Strings. I do ask you keep this area hidden from intruders that board the ship under false or malicious intentions." Synthe explained, before turning back with the Blood Dragon following closely.

"That doesn't answer my question though. Where are we going exactly?" Zerker jumped on the question again, hoping to get an answer out of the Novierian.
"Whichever doesn't fire upon us. However, there is one more thing I am looking for." Synthe replied again, though raising the curiosity of the Blood Dragon.
"One more thing?"
"8 Years ago, upon the fall of False Heaven... there was a shockwave, a shockwave that held no kinetic force, but rather... life. Spirit. it was a wave that had something else within it, like the warmth of a sun's rays beating down on a plant's leaves. To be honest, Zerker, I was supposed to be dead at least a few years ago. But this wave that flowed throughout the universe replenished my spirit, and, ultimately, my soul as well. I find that... I find that I'm able to live far, far longer than the average Novierian now. Did you feel that shockwave too?" Synthe explained, giving a look that seemed to analyze Zerker's expression. Synthe could at the very least feel his emotions, and base what he was thinking off that, but there was something he had to confirm, something he could only do by the expression of his newest acquaintance.
"... Yes. It was what ultimately propelled me to discover my true race. Although I had feelings I was different, and was already on the path to furthering myself, that wave... made everything click. I became a fully realized Blood Dragon the moment the wave came to me."
Synthe was satisfied. He would be smiling if, of course, Novierians had mouths.
"I have my hunch that it was an embodiment coming into being. An embodiment of life, of stars, or of spirit, or something. I cannot truly pinpoint it, but, if all else fails, perhaps he or she can fix these two in the medical bay..." Synthe explained his reasoning. But, he was leaving something out, and wasn't telling the whole truth; even Zerker could see this.

But, perhaps, it wasn't his place to ask. Not yet.

For eons I have observed you, and for eons I have stood by watching you tear each other apart. You wield that which I have given to you, and that you hold so dearly, to destroy each other in pointless conflict. You no longer deserve to wield these powers. You no longer deserve your own advancements, WELCOME TO THE STONE AGE VERMIN. THIS IS YOUR GENESIS ?AND YOUR REVELATION. Welcome home.

The letter hazily plastered itself across the screens, as the rest of the ship's lights and functions powered off to nothing, blanketing the ship in absolute blackness. The Novierian only watched the screen deliver it's hateful message, clenching his fist all the while.
"So even me? You would take this away from one that wishes to not cause conflict, to stop everything? The very thing you hope to accomplish with this?" Synthe's thoughts wavered through the air with no real target, and placed his hand on the ship's console. "This is a Novierian ship though, Alpha. I am the machine here, I am the computer, I am what powers this, I am what decides who deserves what on this ship, and I am the one you refuse to allow to wield it.

The Novierian had not his magic, nor did the blood dragon on board; that was taken from them both mysteriously some time ago, but their life endlessly cruising the galaxy went on. But Synthe did not need magic; He was a Novierian, a being of powerful ESP, and recently had his life extended exponentially by the rebirth of the Embodiment of Heat. And thankfully, what he had said about his ship was true. Like most Novierian Ships, most of all of their functions can be powered and operated by a Novierian alone, irregardless if the technology could power itself. It would be like using a tool in his own right hand by how he was connected to this ship.
Synthe closed his eyes, and within moments, he demanded control from the ship's powerless vessel. And soon, it sprang to life once more. And within moments after, Zerker bursted into the room.
"Synthe! Did you see the scree-" The Blood Dragon began, but the Novierian raised his free hand to stop him. The two had been together far too long to need to communicate any further than what was necessary.
"First our magic is taken, and now technology. The entire universe is now at odds with itself, for everything that has occurred thus far between the gargantuan warring factions has been done with these two things. For the moment, the Ghost String's mission is accomplished." Synthe telepathed to his old friend, but it was only met with conclusion.
"You've never really explained the purpose of Ghost Strings, about the time when we must take our blade, and why you're looking for this one embodiment." Zerker brought up. All this time, he was living under the Novierian's generous hospitality. There was a reason for it, both were alone in this plane of existence, one without a race, and another looking for his race. They were truly lonely souls looking for someone, something to cling to. Not necessarily to love, but to fill the void that they both harbored for the longest time.

"It is time. Ghost String's purpose, our blade, and the purposes of why we're looking for the embodiment... It's much earlier than I expected it to be, but I can no longer hide that truth from you." Synthe telepathed to the Blood Dragon, as he was steering the ship for the nearest planet. Any planet. Practically any of them was now an option; they had no way to stop them, to crush them. They were free birds, able to fly anywhere they wanted.

"Ghost Strings is a ship capable of mass destruction. If you remember the engine room I showed you long ago, you probably noticed it was much larger than what the ship would have needed. I said that a large portion of it was needed so that I may control the ship as I please, but that is simply not the case. The engine room houses a weapon capable of destroying fleets and stopping anything that comes in it's path. With such a weapon, one would imagine that Ghost String's purpose is to inflict damage on one's enemies, but even that's not the case." Synthe explained, as the Blood Dragon sat down on the floor, cross legged.
"The purpose of this ship is peace, across the entire plane of existence. Zerker, I'm tired of fighting. I'm tired of seeing others fight. I'm tired and sore of seeing us all tear one another apart for some stupid concept such as owning the entire plane. But the only way to stop such powers that be across the galaxy is to wield power to counteract that, no matter how insignificant that power we wield may be. That is our blade. Our blade is the dream that we may all stop fighting and live for today, to live for better times rather than the time that has passed."

"It was war that tore apart my race, my homeworld, everything. It was war that ruined the planes, and it is war that ruined all of the race's sense of morality beyond all recognition. Because of war, I am alone, and it is because of war that we have such atrocities that make this Alpha decide that we're all too war mongering to deserve technology." Synthe hatefully messaged his friend, with a fire burning in his eyes. "We're going to take advantage of the current time. There is no magic. There is no technology. Nothing can stop us for any reason, and even if they try, we can react with the force that they were stripped of."
"... So you're going to go around, destroying everyone's military forces in the name of peace?" Zerker asked, only to be met with a reply of uncertainty.
"I sincerely hope it does not come to that. But it is something I have considered, for that is one of the possible plans. For the current moment, preaching a message of peace while the factions can do nothing is futile; They will still plot and scheme ways war with one another behind whatever veil we give to the planes. What we have to do is to stop all current warring if possible. If they're stopped while they can still do nothing, all of their focus and attention is on Ghost Strings, and me. That is an endless battle I am willing to take, if it means they will stop fighting each other."
"And what if they all gain their magic and technology back in the meantime?" Zerker questioned.
"Then I will have to adapt, and better myself. I will fight every war in these god forsaken planes if it means to stop them, so no one else has to know the crushing pain that it brings."
"... But what about the people that fight you? They will be in war with you. They will know that pain. And when the factions run out of resources to fight you, they will fight each other to gain resources to continue fighting you."
The Novierian was suddenly crushed. This was the answer he did not want to give.
"I pray I can end things before that happens. And as for those warring with me... I can only dream they will eventually lay down their weapons as well. I hope that instead of fighting each other for the extra resources, they will go to one another to ask for the resources, to trade peacefully. And when I'm gone, they will continue that. I will bear the stigma of the scourge of the planes of existence if it means to unite all other factions.

I will die for that. Even if it means I cannot gain the answer I have been looking for from that embodiment, about the origins of my race, and what they had to do with it."

The last line surprised the Blood Dragon. Origin? The Embodiment?
"W-what do you mean?" Zerker asked hesitantly.
"The Embodiment we search for was responsible for the birth of the Novierians. Or his previous incarnation was. When his rebirth traveled through the planes, not only did it extend my lifespan, but it gave me memories as well, much like how we Novierians share memories from one another. We are beings of not magic, but life, heat... our ESP powers are our spirits projected through our minds, and our spirits our lives, burning a flame that was once lit by such beings like the sun. That Embodiment shares that exact energy. And it is him that I wish to ask about my race. For I fear only he has answers I am looking for."

Synthe ended his mental spiel with a rest in his mental power, with the ship powering off for only a second.

"I think that's a notable goal."
It was a voice unknown to both the Novierian and Blood dragon. The two immediately turned around, Zerker standing from his crossed legged position and Synthe preparing a volley of mental spears. What stood in their path was a glowing wolf.
"You're the wolf in the Medical bay!" Zerker suddenly spoke up, instantly remembering the scene that encompassed the capsule when he visited the room the million times before.
"My name is Yggatte, thank you very much. And I'm not a wolf, I'm a Solstici." Yggatte answered, feeling insulted that the Blood Dragon had the nerve to call him by a title that many have mistaken him by countless times before. Apparently, wolves were a recurring anomaly in space time across many worlds.
"So you're alive." Synthe telepathed, not letting down his mental spears. "What of the human that was with you, does he too walk the ship?" Synthe questioned, as if in a full interrogation.
"No. He's still asleep in his pod. I woke up when the systems failed, and I caught parts of your speech to Zerker." Yggatte answered very politely, slowly sitting down in the wolf-like position.
"H-how do you know my name?" Zerker asked, but he felt that he was already going to get his answer.
"Your friend, Synthe, is a Novierian, a mental race. Many of his mental thoughts and telepathy is sent across the ship because you're usually the only one to talk to. It mattered not who received the message, so all the time in my pod, I was silently listened. I was unconscious, but I remember your conversations like they were imprinted in my very mind. It's also not hard to guess from your previous conversation as well." Yggatte explained thoroughly in a matter-of-factly voice one might expect from a... uh... wolf.

The last question from the Novierian was what ended it. "After hearing my dreams, my aspirations, my desires, are you friend or foe?"

"Friend."

((Alright, I'm doing this. I'm making this happen.

Everything that's happened in this topic is now Null. The only thing that should be mentioned about Ghost Strings is that it's Synthe everlasting boat among the endless seas of stars, forever wandering the universe. Everything related to Zerker, Yggatte, and Slingah in this topic is also null; In fact, consider them not even a part of the ship in the first place. The only living being on Ghost Strings is Synthe himself.

For notes regarding Zerker, Yggatte, and Slingah, read whatever other posts I'm nulling about them.

One last time, not leaving SP, just trying to start fresh.))
