I suggested this too K2 but I think it should be brought up to all staff's attention. The current request system where it can only be approved by a staff member is really not working. I've posted four request topics, each for different things and only two of them got a reply, which is okay I understand that others are busy but what really gets me is that I've seen several other staff members on today after my post and none of them have bothered to check the request forums. I once again get that they could be busy but if the staff is too busy to make an attempt to approve and deny requests then what point is the point of having them approve? To keep members from adding broken characters or a million ships into the game? Yeah that is a few of the reasons why but what about the people who just joined and don't have anything? If they have too wait too long before they can do anything then they might not play. There are some staff members on top of it but I don't think this system works. That is why I'm proposing a new idea. A few select member of the board to be allowed the ability to approve and disapprove. These members would have to be very trusted by the board staff itself and have to be fair, but if they would be allow to then it could take some pressure off the staff with having to be the ones who accept all the requests. I realize that it would require an admin to accept for somethings like territories but the characters shouldn't require just staff's approval.

The topic only works if they see it, and if they can't see the new topics then they aren't going to notice the topic. I also doubt that they want us to spam their inbox with messages asking them to approve something. My idea isn't focusing around giving too much power to none members, its just a matter of giving the best rpers the ability to decide what would work and what is broken.

We're a lot quicker to jump on new member requess than we are to people who have stuff. The system is fine, we just need to hop on them a bit more.

I'll admit I may have been one of the Staff Members today, but I was at Zak's(or as his Username right now is, 'Mr. Outside') birthday party today(we went bowling to celebrate it). Because of this, I was mostly only checking the forum to see what new stuff has been posted, not to actually make any posts. Just saying, but y'know.

It was just an Idea, also Red, it wasn't so much that I was being ignored today, I personally am talking about overall. I don't think the system is broken all the way, but there are times I see people requests go unnoticed by others. Normally General, you, and K2. The other staff seems to always be too busy to bother with it a majority of the time, and I'm not saying that they are doing a bad job or whatever. They could possibly have a good reason for why they can't.

I get the feeling Hikaru reads all of them, but doesn't always respond. It's always like this though. When I first came I made a similar request for more personnel. But I personally think it's fine the way it is. You just need patience.

And Hiro, I can vouch for Logan. His requests have been here for longer than just today.

Yeah I know, I just think that it would be more efficient if there are people who job outside of the rp is to do that. Like I said this is really a suggestion idea. I'm not saying that I want this job, in fact I actually don't. I'm just saying that it could decrease the wait time for others.

Uh.. other than busy with college I was at Cap's for the weekend where I only have my phone or the Nook color (not charged) to approve things on. My laptop's lid broke and I need to epoxy it. So yeah I'm reading the requests through phone, doesn't mean I have the time to approve them or the patience to write walls of text debating one I think needs to be contested...

Only approved Eli because Cap was using my phone and asked if I approved so I handed it to him and told him to use it to post 'approved' while I was busy.

And no! I do not agree with a new system as the idiots we get will probably let stupid crap in. Right now everyone that approves has the knowledge to do so and knows how to make sure things are balanced. I'm sorry, but Nik? Will allow metagaming, break the magic and embodiment system and let godmods in without even knowing the backstory, plot, and systems in place. Logan? Starwars, stargate, charmed and his other rips, enough said. Yuki? ...Doesn't know the story well enoug. ...Orph? ...We've tried that before he makes the rp all about him andf approves 'special' system breakers, so does Logan. I wouldn't trust any of them with approvals at this point.

Just wait... as soon as I have free time there WILL be a template system.

A new system (not one like you described) has been in development for some time (about a year). We were hoping to have it done in time to implement it with the other updates for Shattered Planes v2.0 (Season 5), however due to various staff engagements outside of SP (we all work or are in classes at uni/high school/middle school(?)) we have yet to finish this system. We apologize for any requests we have overlooked. Generally at least one or two of us will see it if you bump it a few times (once every day or so) and post here.

We understand that the current system is broken and we ask that you all bear with us as we try to improve it and update it. The system is also there for a reason. While in some roleplays, such as Escape, a roleplay I co-founded with Zaikanata (Gunslingah), and in the original version of this RP, Season 0 (Opposing Kingdoms), requests are not necessary, they are here. This roleplay is now so complex and so centered on fighting that the potential for godmoding is very high, and the potential for a request which breaks lore is even higher. As such, the staff has to approve requests. We have very specific criteria that we check for in requests.

DanP, our host over at the lovely and gracious SpeedMax (http://speedmax.net) suggested to us that we adopt a "Two Week Rule" much like our "Three Day Rule" only for requests. This would put the fault of the requests on staff. If nobody says anything about the request and ignores it for two weeks, it's approved. While this was given some serious thought we decided it would not be for the best. Why? Because it could be abused.

And seriously Hik, having two histories interconnected is not metagaming. Zak's character saved the Heliphlein a long time ago (not in uber ancient times or anything) and helped them again in the present. Not metagaming.

And yea, of corse I'd let godmods in. In my book, a level 5 is a godmod.

Not sure if we do or not, hence the question mark, though to my knowledge the youngest (active) member here is Yuki, and only by a few months compared to Nik, Zak, etc. Officially everyone here should be over thirteen, and should not view the topics with [18+] in the title unless they are over eighteen due to legal reasons. This is mentioned in our TOS as well as somewhere in the Rules or one of the opening topics, don't remember where, but you should have read it if you're following forum rules, and common sense says stay out of the 18+ topics anyway. But legally we have to tell you not to read the topics if you're not 18 or if it's not accepted in your community.

Course we don't have anything too bad in the 18+ topics, most members prefer to "Fade to Black".

Nik, it's okay, not many people are qualified for staff. You have to be a good roleplayer and/or a good leader, and know the story well enough. Hikaru and I are givens considering we were co-founders of the original RP and know it like the back of our hand (in addition to my leadership/writing talents and Hikaru's technical talent), Jeebus is a very qualified leader and is able to sort out arguments, Hiro is an incredible person and probably the only staff member besides maybe Jeebus who can stop and look at a situation with common sense (necessary in approval topics and as a moderator of the board), and Lyoko222 is incredibly helpful and good at planning, and also keeps a tight leash on the moderation of the board. Jeebus, Hikaru, and I have years of experience as staff on other boards (and in my case, years of experience with this RP, I think I've been a staff member, besides when I was fighting with Logan every once and awhile, since the board was founded in 2006), and Hiro has been admin on a few other boards (though I think he only had been the founder of UR and one other board's mod when he became staff here?), and Lyoko... Um.

Well I think Lyoko was staff on CLTCG, and maybe some other places too, but regardless he's a good leader.

ALSO I agree that Aser helping your empire's not metagaming, because it's meant to tell a story, not just as an asset in the game.

I'm not in middle school. Technically It was highschool last year, despite the "HS Freshman in Junior high" thing. The district here is gonna change the grade set from 1-6,7-9,10-12 to 1-5,6-8,9-12 by next year. But thanks for making me feel like a kid more so than I already am

And about being staff, I think I could be staff, but not on this forum, or any other imperial based forum. I have to much of a story mindset for that.

And one thing, what counts as 18+? If two eople kiss and then fade to black does that count? Because I'm pretty sure PG movies get away with that all the time.

I'll be honest. We haven't had any actual 18+ threads here that haven't involved Kurai. Everything else has, honestly, been PG-13 and under. At least as far as sexuality goes. But, of course, that's all most parents care about.
