Unexplained NPC race, that considering I conquered the poor folks I may as well give them an explanation.

Aloans (closed, slave race)


Natives of Aloange.

They are a near human species, with very few deference from them. One of them being that they have a dual-heart, and quad lung circulatory and repertory systems. This gives them compared to a human, much greater endurance. However, Due to the compact nature of these systems, there does not appear to be any difference. Normally you would not be able to tell the difference between an Aloan and a human.

Normally, the Aloan are olive skinned and dark haired. Very exquisite beauty pervades their people, and sexuality is freely explored by nature not just culture, as the Aloans can selective start their menstrual cycles, as in they only get pregnant when they have chosen to, with their chosen partner. Thus, exploring their sexuality is just part of the partner selection process.



Culture.

Their have an Italian like culture. This means, that family is very important to them, and that loyalty to that family is a currency greater than coin. These families each have political, economic, and para-militaristic ties.

In other words, instead of a society of Organized crime being the underground, organized crime is the society and crime is merely going against your family will. This played out in many, many cloak and dagger civil wars, and hard lives for all. Mafia ruled

This tough life, lead to a sense of vicarious living, arts, entertain, food, and sex being a major part of everyday life. Living for the moment a part of everything they are. They made many inventive and tasty foods, many vibrant arts, and many plays and novels of great elegances and literary worth.

However, this society did not treat those without family ties well, and urchins were by and by ignored. The fine things in this society were for the family who fount night and day interlude after intrigue after plot day and night.


Magic

The urchins who did grow up survive by a strange form of magic. It utilizes the lines of theirs hands and 23 cards each a component to spells interchangeable to many of them. These mystics lived outside their family structure, but were feared and revered by them. Having Family leaders going to their best for advice.


Recent history and predicament

The Aloans planet was hit with the cataclysm of destruction by the Waywiord Marid. The remaining who were folded up to Wayword vessel were taken off world before they could die on the surface in uninhabitable conditions.

The Aloans have been taken in the Wayword oppression of reeducation and slavery as laborers and grunt workers. The intelligent ones are being trained under a close eye to operate complicate technology, however, any sign defiance leads to death. The families that have remained intact have issued an order of compliance, to preserve their people in this dark time. The urchins, and mystics see this as an opportunity to get on the Waywords good side to win a better position in life than they would have ever had under the Mafia system of Aloange

They must have pretty big ribcages or very small lungs.

Meh, an extra foot of height, would account for it. I was thinking their rib cages were more flexible for the extra breathing room.

Generally it's a mutation to have 3 lungs. One normal, twp deformed.

If the rib cage was more flexible but about that same size for a human's ribcage, then the lungs would stay presses against the ribcage. I'd suggest that they are humanoid but a bit bigger in dimensions so that the ling thing doesn't bug me. Flexible or not, four lungs in a human ribcage when inhalimg is too much.

Ribs are made of bone, not cartalige(mostly). So if you were to make them more flexible, then it'll be made mostly(or all) cartalige.
