Stumbling upon Job
« on: March 07, 2012, 04:39:51 AM »
Curled up in sheets drenched in sweet, blood and juices better left to the imagination. A creature of beauty and terror moved her hands over Sliph's body, as she pondered his strand tattoo's.
"... You know, you never did tell me where these came from. They are kind of uncharacteristic of you to have. I have always been too preoccupied with other things to ask... if you know what I mean" said the woman seductively.
The ancient Phoenix yawned, wondering if he should explain it to her. Trust is something that does not come easy to a Phoenix, but what harm was there is tell her about one of his earliest... adventures...

"I had just finished cataloging the entire ecosystem of a world that no longer exists, because I destroyed it soon after I was finished. I can make you some whiskey from something vaguely potato like from there that only I can replicate, or clone these cute fluffy things that reproduce a bit too quickly but make fine coats that come from that data. However, this meant I was on the prowl for another world, the one I came across was odd. It seemed to every magical sense I had to have life... everywhere. But for years I looked and I couldn't find a single specimen to dissect. It was a mystery, until I found a fishing pole... odd I thought but hey why not. fished in a ocean I was sure I had no fish. For Who knows, maybe a decade."

"Now, I understand that at times I can be a bit unhinged, but I was curious as to why this fishing pole was here, and why this planet felt alive to me... when no matter how much I searched there was no life. So, I just fished as another decade passed. The most interesting thing happened, I got a bite. It felt like my arms were about to come off, the sheer force the creature I had snagged on my line was capable intrigued me. With all of my effort and endurance, I held onto the pole and hoped I would reel in this creature, so that I might dissect it for further study. In a huff of expended strength, I pulled out the creature from the ocean... better yet, the ocean became it. The Creature seemed to be a serpent with scales like glittering sapphires, quite the sight, a beauty. An experience well worth twenty years of my long life.

The creature spoke in a tongue I did not then understand, and morphed into a tattoo that you see on my left arm... the blue serpent.

Now, the entire planet, seemed to lack water. I spend a few months confirming this. There was not a drop. With the appearance of that creature, and my capture of it. All of the rivers, lakes, and oceans were gone leaving a dry windy desert. Strangely, that is when the drumming started. So naturally, I wished to know the source of this lovely song. It drummer and beat into my ears like a lovers sonata, and I could not get enough. Even after years of questing for the source of the song I could not find it. So, I gave in to the wonderful drumming beat, and just danced.

So I danced for what my data later tells me was thirty years, until a bright blindingly yellow bird appeared its wings covered the entire the skyline and seemed to flap away the very atmosphere. It seemed to sway as basked in the light in the sun. The raptor of a creature spoke strangely, its meaning escaping me, however it was almost clear. As if, I had almost understood before it slipped away, as it morphed into the tattoo you see on my back now.

Now, you know as well as I that we do not need an atmosphere to breath. However, with the bird on my back, the atmosphere was gone. The music I loved so much, a memory. However, something else was new. I could see in the horizon, something glitter. Not the normal kind either, I mean the kind that mean diamonds.

I figured, what the hell, and followed it to a rather large one. It was interesting in that I could not conceive it naturally occurring without magic. So I simply tap it it, and it chipped. Now, that was interesting. Not diamond then, so I figured I'd be a bit artistic for once and tried to craft an effigy of the serpent and raptor I had saw. It took awhile to do properly, a good decade and a half. After finishing, the ground rumbled and quaked, so, I flew into orbit as the planet changed into a creature of massive size... and of ferocity. Its red coarse skin giving it a fierce appearance, as it eyes locked with my true form and said.

"I am Behemoth, the mountains, the magma, and the valleys."

The Serpent and the bird tattoo came off and appeared, and took their place next to Behemoth.

The Serpent spoke in a feminine voice, "I am Leviathan, the ocean, lakes, and rivers"

The Raptor spoke, "I am Ziz, the cloud, the wind, the air, and everything of the sky."

The three reformed into the planet and as I set down on the planet once more. They appeared in a humanoid form, a projection of sorts. "You have earned our fealty, and thus Job Magic through us. We shall instruct you."

The three taught me their secrets and have been with me ever since. I spent another century on the world composed of them, before we left that star forever."

Kurai rolled her eyes at Sliph, "Well, that enough story time. I think you know what I want now..."
