SMART "National" Flag Empire Name: Self
Manufacturing
And
Reassembling
Technologies
Primary Race: *Anything with a mechanical element. Even biomechanical races can be found in SMART.
Empire Description: The mechanical equivalent of the Sovereign -- a giant clusterfuck of different machine species from all over the universe/multi-verse/whatever/verse. It began as the Apparatus Cultus (Machine Cult in Origin), a small sect of technological extremists who broke off from the First Pilgrimage shortly before Arc-En Ciel was populated. The Cult was known for meddling with biotechnology, and carried out cruel experiments in the name of research. When these practices were discovered, they were immediately sent elsewhere.
Because of their biological roots (Origin; Arcani), and their obsession with machines and technologies, they are a serious problem. When they were exiled, they opted nomadic habits, rather than settling down in one place -- this way, their chances of learning about and finding more technologies were increased. They created a "republic" of sorts, with member-worlds that were technologically extreme also -- that union was called, The Great Technological Pragmatist Republic. It was banded by P. Saigon and Turn 'A'. It ran into some troubles two decades later when the member-worlds fell to an unidentified invader. The TPR was spread, with the union barely surviving by a thread, and what little actual interest it had still invested in itself. P. Saigon then fled to this . . . whatever-it's-called -- taking all of his research and tech with him -- and alerting Turn 'A' of his absence. The duo would later arrive to the . . . uh . . . Shattered Planes(?) and again, rebuild what was destroyed. What began as a small arms-dealing company within a galactic monopoly -- ArmsTech -- would again begin the sick research of its spiritual predecessor (Apparatus Cultus), and re-establish what it saw as what the position of machines should be in every corner of every universe.
Self-Manufacturing Systems was formed first. It spread its influence to several new member-worlds. P. Saigon then changed the name from that to what it is today after a breakthrough in his research, true self-assembly and reassembly. The formal name would then become, Self Manufacturing and Reassembling Technological Systems, but is better known as Self Manufacturing and Reassembling Technologies. Either way, that's how it got to where it is today. Extremism, loyalty, and inherit desires to always get better and acquire more knowledge (thanks to their Origin . . . origins?) makes SMART(s) a force to be reckoned with.
Additional Information:
1"
Sui Manufacturing et Reassembling Vitae", in the Origin indigenous tongue literally translates into "
Self Manufacturing and Reassembling Technologies".
2There's actually a primary race to go with this (that I'll post in a bit). However, because this is a smooshball of a broad ranger of machines, this "empire" wouldn't be that exclusive, and I am therefore, technically not breaking the rules -- since, again, it's not just the primary race of machines that make up this group. Before I start using them I'll get the race up anyway so that there's no speculation or suspicion.
