Character Name:Hiro Dark
Age:21
Gender:Male
Appearance: http://images.wikia.com/fireemblem/images/9/9a/Raven.jpgPersonality: Hiro is the kind of person who would help a person on a whim. He's very kind person, and while he does usually demand a form of payment for his services he's been known to do jobs for free, usually these jobs are things that strike a moral chord, and even when he does get paid he often donates the money to worthy causes without thinking. In addition, he often turns down jobs he doesn't feel morally right doing. Because of these two factors, he actually tends to be in financial trouble despite his occupation, and leaves little personal time because of this. All things considered, he doesn't really feel he needs it anyways...Not like he has anything productive to do with it, might as well go out there and help people. He places a great deal of importance on Sara, and has taken her under his wing to protect her. Threatening her around Hiro...Is probably a good way to get yourself hurt. Badly.
However, there is one problem with this all...Because of which Book he has, he often suffers bouts of existential crisis of whether or not
HE is a good guy, if this personality actually exists, or if its a forced, and ultimately temporary, persona created by the curse of his book. Because of this, he actually tries to slow down the progression of his book's completion if he can, as he fears death and doesn't know what will happen to what is effectively 'him' once the curse completes, whether or not the influence of his morality will simply fade away at the end of his curse...And what kind of person will be left with the spoils if it does.
Inventory (Weapons, Equipment, Etc): Other than the weapons he can make on the fly, nothing.
Brief History:Hiro doesn't remember much of his early life. Or later life. In fact, his earliest memory is in the heat of a battle, bursts of Gauss fire all around his team. Apparently they were transporting something, something important...Right, right, the book. He didn't remember when the attack began. Last ditch effort, they were surrounded, his team were being slaughtered, missions failed anyways so might as well grab the book and see which one it was. It asked its question to him, and his response was that he had no choice. And so, the story began right there, in the midst of that battle. He tried out what power he had...A brittle wooden rod appeared out of nowhere into his hand. Thats it? Thats the power of this book, that he traded who-the-hell-knows, probably his soul itself for!? Well, no matter, its do or die time-Quite literally. He smacked his weapon over the head of one of the attackers, and the weapon broke. Splintered into a thousand pieces. At the very least, it distracted the enemy combatant, and he shoved the broken end of what remained riiight into his foe's face. It broke further, not even breaking the guy's skin. Hiro figured he'd just have to keep pummeling the guy with new ones instantly made in order to do any damage at all, and tried it. Of course, his element of surprise was lost, and the other guy's friends were coming to finish him off. They beat him with the butts of their rifles, and beat his body as he lay upon the ground. As his vision faded, he noticed one of them see the book itself, and note with dismay that it'd already cursed someone, no use to anyone anymore, and they checked how far it was. Very first paragraphs, and given Hiro's powers, they figured it was him who took on the curse. They were just about to kill him in revenge when the guy with the book told them to hold on, it just abruptly finished writing. Guy must be dead if it stops writing...Right? Wasn't that how the books worked, they just kept writing everything you did until they filled up? Apparently they felt thats how it worked and left him there. And when Hiro came to, he found that that was all he could remember, well that and general knowledge that everybody knows. Its been two or so years since then, and his book has hardly seemed to fill up. All his story documents right now is the name he's built for himself as a mercenary, and a few of the contracts he's taken, the ones he's refused, how his power and he himself has grown...And, of course, his story's grim prolog.
Book: The Book of Soldiers.
Length Completed: 2/7
Character Name:Sara Coal
Age:19
Gender:Female
Appearance:http://www.feplanet.net/media/gallery/10/mia.pngPersonality:Sara is a generally very happy and upbeat person, and generally tries her best to make others happy. Ever since her run-in with Hiro, she looks up to him as a role-model and tries to be like he is in many aspects. Due to her experiences with her curses, however, she is completely, utterly terrified of being alone or ostracized or otherwise removed from people that care about her. A inability to fight or escape from something combined with a literal need to be nearby those you care about? Noooot a good combination if you get lost or kidnapped, and even worse when people actively hate you. Because of this, she can seem very clingy to people willing to tolerate or even like her for who, rather than what, she is. She's been close to death once from her curse and...It wasn't pleasant. Not at all.
Inventory (Weapons, Equipment, Etc): The sword seen in the image. It was created by Hiro specially for her, and is exceptionally light, but not a very powerful weapon. Really, it barely qualifies as a training sword. But it holds a edge, and so she's trying to teach herself to use it with finesse rather than with power, attack a target's weaker points rather than attack them hard.
Brief History:Sara was raised in a noble house, and from a young age had loved to read. Really, considering her parents never let her play with 'the rabble', it was all that she had to do. Oh, sure, there were the playdates with the other rich, snobby children, but she never liked them much. Sooo books it was, or occasionally fencing practice, y'know, the normal rich person hobbies. When she reached the age of 18, she was looking through the family library, and stumbled upon two books she'd never seen in it before. She pulled them out and opened them, but yet...there was no writing. Completely and utterly blank...And then, she heard the voice in her very soul, both voices, from both books at once. She'd heard of the Cursed Books, but only from the books she read, and she'd only liked the happy stories in her life, where the people with the curses were the heroes. Remember, she didn't socialize much with others from her class, or any class really, and so she'd not really heard how people actually reacted to these books. She was astonished at her good fortune, and immediately responded with a resounding Yes! at it...And then, her heart stopped cold. Her clothes felt heavy on her body. She couldn't even seem to see very well in front of her anymore. And, of course, a few of the servants heard her cry of glee, and checked the library to see what'd happened...Only to find her in front of two books, books that were writing themselves. They responded in fear at their former mistress, and fled the study screaming about how the young lady of the house had become one of the cursed. The guards rushed in, ready to seize the apparent witch, or kill her, whichever was the most convenient at the time. She saw her former protectors advancing on her, and grabbed her books, astounded by their new-found weight, and ran before they could kill her. She'd read enough stories to know which books these were...Stopping her heart, that must be the Book of Fusion, and she was obviously much weaker than normal, that had to be the Book of Sky. The guards chased her out into the streets, and eventually out of the city, where she ran just a little ways out before collapsing in exhaustion. The next day she awoke, and brushed herself off before traveling back into the city limits. They regular city guards either didn't recognize her like the noble house's guards did, or didn't pay her any more attention than they would the average citizen, even if they had fairly nice clothes. She thought that she might be able to survive fairly easily, after all, the heroes never had it too hard! Life in poverty...wasn't at all what she'd expected. For one thing, did you know that you dont even have any servants to cater to your needs? Or any extra clothes besides what you manage to scrounge up? Or even food if you cant get it yourself? Water, at least, she had plenty of, calling forth rain when she desperately needed it. Oh...But the real trouble started when people noticed how she had these
really nice clothes. Maaaybe...She was rich? And if she was rich, maaaaybe she had a bit of...Extra cash? Yeah, the gangs really did a number on her when they first started mugging her, to which she started using the power of the Book of Fusion. She just wanted to stop them from hitting her, hurting her, and oh dear god she needed those books to survive they couldn't take those they aren't even worth anything! Next thing you know, she'd used the power of the Book of Fusion on one of the mugger's arms, twisting the bone and muscle into...Something else. Something terrible. Even she trembled in fear at what she'd done, even in accidental desperation. She took her books, which the cutthroats had dropped as they stared in uncomprehending horror at her, and ran. Out of the city, this time she was able to get farther but not to the next town, mostly because she hadn't started so far from the city limits. There she stayed, even more exhausted than before from hunger and pain, and from how she didn't even feel remotely alive anymore due to her curse until late the next day, when she managed to scramble up the energy to keep moving along the road until she finally made it to the next town. She knew she wouldn't last without people to rely on, not with her curses, so she got in the good graces of the local inn-owner and worked out a deal-She could stay at the inn for however long she needed, as long as she pulled her weight as a maid/cleaner/really, whatever odd job needed doing-er. And as she stayed with them, she built a rapport with them, and she felt alive once more. She wasn't hardly strong, and really could hardly do a lot there because of this, but they kept her around as one of the family. But of course, it couldn't last...One day, the innkeeper's wife was cleaning her room, when she found the books. At first, she thought them journals, which was...Rather odd, considering there were two of them, and they both mostly had the same things, and why were they written in the third person, and why was she running from the guards? Eventually, as she read them, she found that these were not any ordinary books...She told her husband, and while both of them did dearly love the girl, they did not feel they could keep around a Cursed. Imagine if word got out-they really didn't care much about their reputation, except no one would stay at their inn. They'd be out of business, and they couldn't allow their livelihood to go down the drain. They wept as they said goodbye, both the innkeepers and Sara, and they told her, if she ever found herself back there for a short spell, she was always welcome. But she couldn't stay...Not for now. In time, once people in the town had forgotten her, and when she did come back, she couldn't stay for long, in case someone found out her secret. And so, for year she traveled like this, occasionally finding sympathy from people she stayed with who found out her secret, more often finding hatred and fear. It was during one of these occasions, she was running from a mob of people. She'd just gotten in the town...But they found out almost immediately. And this wasn't one of the towns where she found sympathy, either. Eventually, they had her cornered, she had no way out, and the mob crowded around her, intent on killing her as a witch. And then, from the back of the mob...A guy knocked two of the people's heads together, getting the attention of several people around him. He opened his coat, and pulled a warhammer out from it, obviously too big to have been able to fit.
I dont like people who gang up on the defenseless.Hey, its another one of 'em! Dont let him get away!Yeah...Come get some. Lets see how ya like it when the other guy can fight back.Sara didn't see much of the fight, as she cowered in the corner she'd been driven into by the mob. Still, she noticed that most of the people had their attention set on the man in the blue coat, with the red hair, and that slowly, but surely, the crowd was thinning. She didn't think anyone was dying, but from what she could see he was casually flinging them around by smashing his hammer into their midsections. Soon enough, what was left of the crowd had parted and the rest were running away. He walked up to her, and knelt down, asking her if she was alright. She answered yes, and he asked why they were attacking her, to which she responded that it was because of her curses and powers. He asked which she had, she explained the Books of Fusion and Sky. He helped her up, and said that she'd picked quite the troublesome combination of books. She agreed, and as they walked together they talked a bit. Eventually, he offered that she travel with him. He could use some help in his line of work, and a friend of course, and...Well...She could definitely use some protection, all things considered. She agreed, and they've been traveling together ever since.
