The End of Magic
« on: May 21, 2012, 02:27:23 PM »
As the Tournament feast continued on a strange sensation filled the air. To those mortal it would be completely normal as if nothing was wrong. To those of magical power however, it would feel like a veil had just dropped onto them. Or worse, an Anti-Magic Field....

The White Haired contender looked mildly surprised for a moment, then smiled as if something extremely fun had happened unexpectedly. He put away his stack of books and notes, only to stretch slightly, as his form disappeared with a splash.

The black haired contender... seemed to tap his wrist that was held behind his back at attention. As if impatient with the possibility of an AM field.

With the addition of the AM field, the Plunder shades completely disappear, like someone shining a flashlight onto a shadow.
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

Benesque kept eating. He felt a small change, and it was weird, but honestly, it was nothing. Tiny tiny tiny. Who cared? Wait, what happened to those people who were nearby? did they just vanish? Oh whatever. It's not like anything major was happening, right?

"Where'd everyone g- OW!" Gen, the young incarnation of Genesis exclaimed as she hit a nearby wall

"I can't see anything!" Rev exclaimed as well, both Incarnations affected by the sudden Eclipse of magic, adversely. As their eyes normally reflected all they saw, thous would normally make it impossible for them to see if not for magic. Now that the magic was gone, their sight had also vanished.

For Ingrounded!Hikaru, she hadn't noticed the difference as it didn't affect her due to her status of not being tied to Existence, but could tell by the others reactions that something was blocking the ability to perform magic. Had her brother finally converted to technology and started to use Anti-Magic fields? Well that wouldn't surprise her.

No longer concealed by certain method Sliph stepped out in front the Incarnation. He was wearing regal cloth remiencent of the Phoenix Kingdom, donning the color of House Umbrear.  Considering that he had only one wing out that matched these colors, Emerald and Onyx Black. His hair, a pale bone white that mate the third color of his House. His simple grasped the Incarnations hands.

"This has happened before... nothing to worry about. In time everything should return to normal. If you wish, you can accompany me, no use stumbling around blind."

Sliph guided the incarnations to a simple cargo freighter. Sliph himself, wasn't all too stressed by having no magic. The only reason he knew barely how to pilot the freighter, was a couple sleepless nights tearing apart one, only to rebuilt it.

He was taking them with him, asking if they wanted implants that would let them see... at least for now as normal people would.

As everyone gets ready to leave, a spacial anomaly opens up in high orbit of the City, out of which a single ship soars out, using what looks to be propelled by a sort of solar sail system. The hole in space closes behind them, as if it were never there to begin with. "Two more contestants, arriving for the bash!" rings out over unencrypted comm channels, crisp and crystal clear, as if he was standing right in their comm rooms. The ship comes to a stop after coordinating its drift with the planet's, and two spheres of energy soar out through the wall and shield, harmlessly phasing through everything in their path until they hit the ballroom floor. The energy dissipates in a burst of light, revealing Nisorin and Celestie, standing tall and strong, with suspiciously magical looking jewelry. Nisorin, wearing a dark blue suit with a white vest woven from a sort of Curicite thread, walks up to the stage with a smile. "Come on guys, just cause magic seems to have stop working doesn't mean the party can't go on!" He says into the mic, laughing. Celestie, wearing a similarly made midnight-blue dress with small, magic-looking stars twinkling and shifting around on it, walks up and tries tugging him down, giggling and smiling. "Let's go goof, if they want to leave they can."

For the most part, many had left when the K Empire began giving people escorts away from the ballroom, and when the tournament was canceled. A few were still around, not many dancing, but for the most part by now K Empire staff members were helping to clean up.

He sighs, shaking his head. "YOU GUYS ARE ALL LAME!" He shouts, accompanying Celestie back to their ship.

"Who were they?" one worker asked another as they mopped vomit off the floor.

"Who knows," the other replied.

As they could not see or feel the intentions of this man, both Rev and Gen had to judge whether to trust him just upon his voice and words. As they were still a bit naive and did not have access to their usual ability to read hearts to guide them in their actions, the immediately opted to trust this man and thus followed him but kindly declined when he offered implants as they had their own technology. Of course this subject got them on the topic of Lus where they talked non-stop the entire time about the city, the AI, all their technological creations and studies, as well as AMI and Cheshire. Pretty soon it was as if the man was a friend that they had just met.

For Relle though, the minute she saw what she took as a man kidnapping two defenseless ten year olds, she immediately jumped up and followed behind in a manner that would let her blend into the crowd that had been leaving. At the same time in the back of her head Relle couldn't shake the feeling that this man looked familiar. Where had she seen him before? Dismissing the thought from her mind, Relle jumped into sight when she saw that he was about to lead them onto his ship. "Stop you pedophile! How dare you! Kidnapping poor defenseless kids to feed your sick fantasies."

Kotah had long sense left with the rest of the crowd as well as Gwen and Ingrounded!Hikaru who had somehow disappeared without magic.

Sliph listened to the two with interest without interrupting them. However, when the woman came up, he smiled. "So, you believe me helping two brilliant children because they've suddenly become blind is sinister? Did you think for one moment that I do not think of kids that way, and that maybe my type is beautiful women like you."

"Yeah riiiiighhhht. That's what they all say!" Relle gave him a suspicious laugh as Rev and Gen giggled in the backg.round "I'm on to you, you pervert pedophile rapist man!"

Tilting his head, "While I find your spunk interesting, and what grounds to you accuse Duke Sliph Umbrear of the fallen Phoenix Kingdom of such nonsense? I sought only to help and teach these children. You on the other hand, intrigue me. Just how what factors in your life and genetic makeup have led to you being so presumptuous"

"Duke? AHA! I knew you looked familiar! I've seen you in story bo--" At that moment realization hit Relle full blast. "WAIT! Do you know my father? His name is Salus Kalypsis, he was once a prince of the Phoenix Kingdom! But he disappeared when he left me on Earth and I haven't been able to find him sense..." Relle seemed to have dropped all hostilities and even forgotten her first judgement against the man, too caught up in her hopes that she may have found a new lead.

Sliph sighed slightly, while maintaining his smile "Sadly, I inherited Duchy because my parents were causalities of the second Phoenix-Dragon war. I was not born in the Kingdom... and my ties are in title. What I have heard is that the Kingdom has long fallen"
