At a small point past Pluto a strange wavering effect rippled the blackness of space. This rippling continued for barely a second before the front of a large piece of metal nosed its way through, it continued to grow in length, lengthening to Pluto's diameter and then larger, to Venus and then to Earth's before it finally came fully out, weapon ports at the ready and sat just under the diameter of Jupiter. The Displacer Barriers were up, as were the dampeners, from the fact that the massive broadsides on the port and starboard sections of the ship were moving around in their mounts showed that even up to Gamma level weaponry was activated. This meant that the Shimmering Dawn was on an attack run and the fact that 14 other ships burst out of the ripple behind her proved it even more so.

Shimmering Dawn sat at the spearhead of this attack run, the Blazing Glory, Echo Burst and Lux on the right side whilst Velox, Aurora and Mortis took the left side. Umbra sat above the Titan, ready to be used as either a linefiller, breaker or shield for the fleet. The carriers of the fleet sat back in the center of the group, two of them had been modified to carry Kukri and Morningstar class craft and large contingents of infantry. This entire combat fleet was moving towards Earth but more specifically the moon of the planet and the city upon it, they were going to take this place for their own.

The entire fleet moved quickly, their powerful reactors and engines moving them at combat vectors towards the city, their weapons already running through targeting and aiming procedures whilst every reactor on the Dawn cycled up and then Delta weaponry went online, the Genocide Rift Cannon started charging up although it would take a long time to do so and the fleet continued to prowl forwards towards the satellite, looking like predators as they done so, the weapon ports looking slightly like eyes as they slunk through the black of space

Near the city sat a K Empire spaceship, and from it, flying straight towards the fleet, was a fighter squadron. It's fighters, Hornet Fighters, were unique in that at their nose, the fighters were completed with large drills. Yes, drills. There were about fifty fighters present in all. Going up against this entire fleet. But that was the beauty of it all... These were just the fighters, and they could take down entire fleets.

Imagine what the ships were like.

Miamore Cadenchi sat in the command bridge and had the tactical display up around her, this display showed all of the fighters that were incoming "Only fifty.... that's not a whole lot" She mused to herself but she knew better than to think that her enemies were foolish, she tapped a few commands on the holo-displays and set the entire fleet to launch all available strike craft. As one the entire fleet opened launch bays and over ten thousand ships, a mixture of sword and halberd classes, dropped out and went after the fifty opposing ships.

The entire fleet started to go past Jupiter when the helmsman spoke up. "Admiral, we're detecting nuclear signatures coming from the satellite and a ship in orbit, probably where those fighters came from." Miamore nodded to him but they could handle a few nukes and a single ship wouldn't be too much effort now, would it? They would just have to wait and see how this ship would do against the might of a Vionix combat fleet. They still had at least a minute before they were in firing range however, they just had to hold out until then and all would be over, that is what they thought anyway.

It was a scene like David and Goliath, fifty small fighters fighting a massive sized enemy of over 10,000 strike crafts. Charging into the scene, leaving their ship far behind, the Hornets began to lock sight on their enemy as they approached. It was quickly obvious that they'd have to go through the strike force if they hoped to reach their enemy's ships. This was going to hurt like hell.

The fighters quickly raised their shields upon approach, before released a much smaller nuke on the battlefield, not large enough to cause much damage. But small enough to release an Electromagnetic Pulse on the battlefield -- it would fry circuitry on all non-shielded devices (except those with lead coating).

The Defender and three other Earth Capital ships dropped out of hyperspace behind the K Empire's ship. They flew up behind it and began sending a single telling the ship they were here to back them up. Each ship's opened up the fighter bay doors and released 40 fighters each (20 for each bay, 2 bays on each side of the ships). This would be the first time they would have to scramble the fighters. The fighters began to progress and eventually catch up with the hornets. Meanwhile Luna City's Defense network came online and all the ion cannons and the city wide shield became active. This will prevent enemies from bombing the city or blasting it. The city could pump as much power as possible into the shields and as long as they have power would be safe.

Most commanders would've been stunned by the fact that fifty fighters are taking on more than a hundred times their number but that just made Miamore realise even more so that they were a foe to be reckoned with and as such she would not allow them to get anywhere near her damned fleet. "Admiral, I've got four new ship signatures around the satellite, they're bringing in reinforcements" Miamore once again just nodded, there was not really any time for words at the moment, not when she had many Vionix to protect and a nuke to deal with.

Outside the ships however the Hornets would be getting a nasty surprise, about a quarter of the strike craft force were Halberd Class fighter, large fighters that mounted rapid fire 155mm Thresher cannons, these ships increased speed whilst the sword class dropped speed to allow them to overtake, the advanced targeting systems on the Halberds locked all weapons onto the hornets and they opened fire, small pops of light from the laser cannons and flashes from the cannons as they unleashed a full tirade. One of the Sword pilots however had a different task and she altered her vectors to his the nuke dead on where she clamped onto it using the docking clamps around it and flew off at top speed, straight into the swirling mass of gas that was Jupiter, she done this so that the EMP wouldn't be able to do anything to the rest of the strike craft whilst they battled against the much smaller amount.

Shimmering Dawn and the Fleet rounded Jupiter in a strange way, they weren't flying straight at the enemy fleet but they were flying more at a diagonal to it, drawing closer but leaving their full broadsides open for attack and the Rampage Lances, all twenty of them, powered up, baleful pinpoints of light building on the side of Shimmering Dawn as they moved in their mounts to track and lock onto the four enemy ships, these Lances were powerful enough to cleave a capital ship in two with a single beam, the enemy fleet would be well off to move or try and stop the beams

(I can't do anything without the help of K2. The three day rule is unfair. Also hate to break it too you but as soon as you get close they would have denetated the power core which would have blown the moon to pieces in the event of you reaching there. It would have only taken them a few seconds to do and couldn't be stop due to it being a closed system.)

The fifty fighters seemed to be moving right towards their death... When suddenly, in perfect formation, they activated FTL drives. Of course, the K Empire hadn't developed true FTL technology for their fighters yet -- that would require immense hardware which would be bigger than the fighters themselves, and the K Empire had yet to find a way to compact the drives.

No, the K Empire had a work around. They called it NET -- small portal technology that worked like an FTL drive. It was designed for personal travel, but it had been modified in this case to allow entire Hornets to FTL. And they did. Right around the enemy fighter fleet, and right to the huge fleet of ships behind the fighters.

And then it dug in, sinking the drills which made up the front half of the fighter into the shields. A yellow, electric-like current began to spread to the shields of the large ships, though the drill tips of the Hornets did not yet make actual contact with the shields... The yellow current was sort of a numbing mechanism that would prepare the shields for drilling.

No doubt the enemy  fighters would take some time to catch up with the Hornets, and hopefully they could break through the enemy ships in that time.

A short transmission was sent to the ships from Luna City, encrypted so it could not be picked up by the enemy:

Code: [Select]
Distract the enemy fighters. We'll handle the rest.

Miamore was preparing to see the enemy fighters get annihilated by the massive swarm of strike craft flying towards them but this was not the case and it surprised the admiral before she smiled at where they were going before she ordered a small amount of sword class fighters, numbering around five hundred to break off and backtrack to the fleet to prevent the enemy trying this again with more of these ships.

As the enemy fighters would connect however, they would find themselves flying through something else before they hit the shields, the Displacer Barriers, fields around the ships that would absorb most energy from the ships including kinetic, electrical and any other forms of energy these ships were packing. As the ships would be dead the anti fighter systems on every single Vionix vessel would start up, targeting and locking onto the Hornet fighters before unleashing tirades of lasers and missiles down upon them.

With the weapons upon Shimmering Dawn slowly charging up to bring down the enemy ships, Miamore just had to wait until they were ready and then it would be done, or so she hoped. The Admiral didn't want to end up losing their target by taking too long, she just had to hope that her weapons would be enough to win, although so far the battle seemed rather one sided towards the attackers, judging by the amount of enemy ships.

The K Empire ship which had retained orbit of the rogue moon was known simply as the Keys. Upon receiving information that their small fighter squadron had been... Disabled, and then destroyed, they began to mule over the data. The most simple explanation was that there had been some sort of EMP released there. The K Empire fighters had to lower their shields the moment they made contact with the enemy shields, and the EMP would have had to have been released then.

However; no additional radiation had been picked up by sensors after the first small blast from the K Empire. Had they released an EMP without a nuke? It was possible, and the K Empire had explored such technology. They knew many empires held that capability... But this didn't seem to be an EMP at all. It seemed that the moment the fighters had reached the enemy, they'd been shut down.

So, how did they respond?

Well, they realized that they had ships which did exactly the same thing these enemy ships were doing.

They released small Flow Class ships from the Keys hanger bay -- these ships were mass produced and only the size of houses. These small ships, a total of about three hundred (note - Anything smaller than a Capital Ship doesn't have to be requested), entered FTL, arriving moments later near the enemy fleet... Where they, too, began to suck the energy out of everything within their vicinity.

Two could play at this game.

Miamore tapped her bottom lip as she watched the displays, knowing that the enemy might be able to figure out the Displacer Barriers but even Miamore didn't know a way to bring the barriers down, that was for the techies. What she did know however was that the enemy had released even more ships and her own fighters were just reaching the other fighters that had been released by the four different ships. "This has became rather interesting" She muttered to herself, a ghost of a smirk flashing over her slender lips before she nodded and tapped a few more commands.

On the outside of the ships, the massive lances on the side of Shimmering Dawn were finally fully charged and capable of ripping these five enemy ships to pieces with ease but Miamore held off, she wanted to see what else her enemies had up their sleeves. These new ships coming towards her however were her primary concern and as such, she turned her rapture cannons to face them and fired, the large, frigate sized shells targeted at the vessels to bring them down. Miamore didn't know about the energy absorption of these smaller ships but they would either have to dodge the shells, which was nearly impossible due to the sheer amount of them, or find a way to stop them completely because the shells would still detonate on contact with them, even if they had very little kinetic energy. Miamore also readied a second salvo should the enemy be able to teleport forwards again, like the first wave of fighters.

The massive swarm of Vionix fighters closed in on the Earth fighters. The tiny amount of Earth Fighters had almost no hope to stand against the veritable cloud of Vionix fighters, comprised of thousands of Sword and Halberd class fighters who all locked their targeting arrays onto the other fighters and unleashed waves upon waves of laser and shell fire against them.

Detecting the enemy ballistics charging towards them, the K Empire's fleet of three hundred responded by sending one ship forward to intercept the attack in order to gain information. Of course, they did absorb kinetic energy from the enemy, but when it still detonated, they didn't have time to raise shields.

Realizing that these ballistics were in fact still very dangerous, the rest of the fleet temporarily ceased their activity of absorbing energy in order to raise their shields, just in time as the ballistics reached their location. Most of the shields were impacted in a similar way, with many of their shields dropping to some 80% power.

Once more lowering their shields, they had a new method of attacking the enemy, opening NET windows. NET was basically a technology that combined hyperspace (Faster Than Light) tech with portal technology. Thirty ships, spread out throughout the fleet, opened these NET windows. The window in front of them was a shimmering blue shape of undefined energy, much like some sort of portal. The companion window opened near the enemy fleet, and if one of the K Empire ships were to travel through this portal, they would in fact come out right at the enemy fleet.

But that's not what they were doing here.

The ships began to calibrate their sensors so that they could continue absorbing energy without absorbing the energy of the NET windows.

Miamore watched these ships with slight bemusement and irritation in equal parts crossing her face. "Well damn... although they have to stop their first functions to activate their shielding it would seem" She muttered and then hit a few commands, the Riot Lances on the sides of the ship turning and targeting the enemy, small ships, before the cannons sent out another several hundred thousand strong salvo of death against them. Miamore then co-ordinated the targeting procedures on the Riot Lances to fire on the ships when their shields went up to bring them down before setting up the cannons to fire a second salvo barely a second after that, almost assuring the destruction of these ships.

The rest of the ships however had moved around Shimmering Dawn, turning into a massive broadside line, all cannons readying to annihilate the enemy once they finally decided to fire, it wouldn't be long now and all the ships were looking forwards to it. The overwatch ship, Umbra, had a different plan however and it sped up slightly, dropping down and in front of the ships and then straight towards the K Empire ship. This was to gather intelligence on weapon ranges and so on before the rest of the ships moved in for the kill.

The fighter swarms that the Vionix ships had launched had now picked off the Earth Fighters, suffering a few losses but not all that many, the MARKER and shield systems proving adequate to stop too many casualties. The large cloud of fighters then picked up the pace and went rocketing forth towards the ship that had released the Hornet Fighters. As they moved, the faster Sword Class craft moved together into wings of fifteen arranged in "V" shapes before running up and along the length of the K Empire ship, lancing down laser fire at the ship before the Halberd Classes came firing up behind them and spat out 155mm shells against the shielding of the K Empire ship in bursts of explosive and deadly rain. They just hoped the ridiculous amount of firepower could put at least a dent in the shielding of the ship.

Appearing on board the K Empire's base ship (the Keys, the one that had been in orbit of the moon this whole time) was none other than Fiske Tyris, half-brother of the K Empire's emperor and currently the Royal Minister of the House of the Palace, one of the two legislators within the K Empire. Among his duties were to engage in sessions of the legislator, act as diplomat to other nations, and more importantly, to command the military when the emperor was away.

It was rare, though, that he showed up in a battle such as this, something for, at most, a general to handle. Fiske had arrived out of mere interest in the occurring events. Immediately, he barked out, "Status report!" and began to get constant information on the bridge of the ship.

The ships raised their shields, ceasing their functions once more the moment the attacks started. This was troublesome. It seemed the enemy had discovered their weakness. However; they were still well capable of fighting back with shields raised, they just couldn't absorb energy. Attacking the lances and targetting the cannons with railgun fire optimized the success of these ships. Throughout the battlefield, small Gamma Radiation bombs would appear near the enemy lances.

As the Umbra came in towards Keys, Fiske had to make one choice... Or another. Attack, or try another solution? The other ships soon followed towards the Keys, the ship that had released the Hornet, and began to attack, seriously damaging its shields. It did not retaliate.

Opting to attempt the obvious, Fiske sent a transmission to Umbra and the rest of the fleet.

Quote
It seems we've gotten a little ahead of ourselves. This is Fiske Tyris of the K Empire. Cease your firing immediately, and let us find a diplomatic solution. There is no need to start a war between our people.

The bridge upon Shimmering Dawn was rather calm considering they were currently charging into lance range of these enemy ships and they would be dying rather soon. The helmsmen and operators of the massive vessel were all calm as they waited and watched, it would appear that land was not a Vionix's true home, space was and they knew how to work through it. Miamore sat on her command chair, a cushion under her rump as always to prevent it getting sore, surrounded by a massive holo-display that showed the entire battle scene at the moment, pinging the locations of enemy fighters and ships for later note.

Against the Flow ships however, the number of cannon shells that soared towards them well exceeded over a hundred thousand, there was no way that they could possibly bring down enough to protect themselves. The lances however moved at the speed of light and as such, in the time it took the bombs to appear anywhere the lances would've already struck home and burned through the shielding of the Flow Vessels in time for the next salvo of massive shells to rain down upon them while their shields were down.

Umbra just ignored the fire as it came its way, the shells would lose most of their energy from the Displacer Barriers and the shields did take a fair amount of damage, dropping them to around half but it had plenty to go and there was no need to worry for the moment because, although the enemy ships couldn't see it, the jump drives were cycling up and readying a quick escape route for the Vionix vessel. The scythe class ship then stopped near the enemy fleet and turned to the side, exposing the large cannons on its side but not firing as it received the message from the other ships.

As Miamore picked up the transmission she furrowed her eyebrows and thought it over, deciding whether or not this was an act to backstab them or to save their own lives against the, from what she could see, overwhelming odds. She decided to ask them that and try to get a good response.

Quote
Fiske, this is Miamore Cadenchi of the Vionix Empire. I am unable to ascertain whether or not this is an act of survival or of deception, I mean nothing against your Empire but I cannot take risks. For us to shut down our weaponry you must first remove the surviving ships from around her fleet and shut down the weapons upon the city, not the shielding however to show we can do this diplomatically.

Withdrawing from the battlefield as their shields failed, the Flow Class ships quickly took evasive action from the incoming shells, readying hyperdrives to FTL back to Keys. Things were getting bad, and it was obvious that the enemy would soon overpower the K Empire's small counteroffensive. Back at the Keys, Fiske Tyris sent back a quick reply:

"It is a pleasure, Miamore. I have withdrawn my attack vessels, though you can not honestly mean for me to disable my weaponry. You were the one who launched this assault, after all. Let me say this. You may over number the forces we have at our disposal here, at this moon, but I am but an ally to these people. My empire is far stronger than what you have seen today. You do not want to make an enemy out of my people, Miamore. I assure of you that."

The same black portal appeared on Miamore's bridge. Due to it's nature, nothing but words could escape, and a bold voice ventured from it. It didn't seem to come fro man organic being, it sounded forced.

Miamore sat at the holo-display, ticking over what she planned to do about this 'K Empire', they were a mystery but perhaps they could be recruited and allied with. When the portal opened however she remembered it from before and looked at it. "I appreciate your input... whatever you are but please, if you are going to do anything, show yourself or do NOT give me council on my own ship, I have this sorted and this 'K Empire' could possibly be recruited" She nodded, saying it out loud certainly made it feel more secure in her mind and as such, she sent a reply back.

<It is my pleasure Fiske, I need to ask a question of you however. I will shut down all but my lances, I can't have you pull a fast one on me, I am... overly cautious, I apologise>

The weapons on the side of Shimmering Dawn shut down, apart from the twenty massive lances that dominated the sides of the ship, they were still running full power, ready to engage any attackers.

In turn, Fiske turned his weapons offline as well. Considering shields were currently offline, it was no use diverting power, so the K Empire were extremely vulnerable at this moment, though Fiske knew sooner or later one of them would have to show a bit of trust. Considering the admiral had shut down most of her weapons, Fiske felt confident that they wouldn't betray that trust.

He sent back a reply transmission:

Quote
Yes, the K Empire has... Dealt with the Anrufe in the past. We devoted many of our resources to the Wind Storm operation at Ventus Tempestus, an academy they later took over. However; at this time, we do not have the... Resources to attack the Anrufe head on... Though... My father. He's no longer a citizen of the K Empire, though he once was our emperor. He has since left the empire in order to devote his full time resources to stopping the Anrufe... Perhaps you have heard of him. He is called K2323.

It was true. Kaleb James Tyris I "K2323", father of current emperor Kaleb James Tyris II, had established the current K Empire (officially the New K Empire), as well as the ancient K Empire, an empire known for, under the rule of K2323, being one of three kingdoms that ruled this region of space in its entirety some decades ago. His father was, disputably, one of the greatest magic users of all time.

The portal fully opened, revealing a man in white robes with mopey brown hair. He wore a blind fold and had blue badges on his sleeves. The words didn't come from his mouth, they seemed to be vibrated into existence.
"They are not worthy allies... You shouldn't have started this fight. Leave. Or end them."
