A different Clan
« on: June 23, 2012, 04:26:10 AM »
Alright, to begin this all off, Im using the term 'Clan' to differentiate the differing species of Vampires. It is possible to be of multiple Clans of Vampire, because most work differently, but there are always downsides to 'hybridizing' like that. And lastly, the name of the previous Clan I made is Valshiek.

Name:The Duultok Vampire Clan
Description:Those belonging to this clan of Vampires are true Undead creatures, a Spirit bound within and animating a dead body. Because of this, they do not age, though the curse prevents them from rotting as long as they're 'alive'. They are also are able to survive within AM fields due to the curse brunt both internal magic as well as magic which ties HEAVILY into the Astral plane. Why does it do this when it just needs to animate the body? More on that later! For now, lets delve into their powers.
The Duultok's magic works differently from the Valshiek. Unlike their living cousins, the Duultok's own magical power comes directly from their curse. However, like almost all clans of Vampire, it does still tie into Bloodfeeding. In the Duultok's case, when they feed, they absorb the sacred property of the blood carried within, also known to occur when Grand Vampires of the Valshiek Clan feed. Unlile them, however, they dont absorb this for a fleeting, but immediate, power increase; instead, this sacred property is absprbed directly into the curse attached to their very spirit. This increases the power of their curse, increases the hold it has on them, which in turn increases the sheer power of their magic, which does not decrease with time. However, this increase is much more gradual than the Valshiek Grand Vampire's increase in power by the same method. Because of this fact, Duultok tend to be binge eaters, as far as Vampire Clans go, because the more blood they drink the stronger they get. This isn't a problem for the Curse, of course, because unlike the Valshiek, who must be alive to Turn, Duultok are Undead and dont need to still be alive to Turn in the first place. A second ability of theirs is something they call 'True Shaping'. Duultok have the power to change their form to another, stronger but more monstrous form they call their true shape. The extent of the change True Shaping has on their body depends on how strong they are; a Fledgeling's True Shape might look almost identical to them with absolutely no increase in power, while a Grand Vampire might change into some form of Eldritch Horror capable of tearing at one's spirit with magic. While the magical affects of True Shaping(such as increased power, ect.) CAN be negated by a AM field, the capability of the Vampire to change into it cannot, because it relies on Internal Magic to shift the Vampire's form. A last note is that True Shapes are not chosen by the Duultok in question. What the Dultok changes into has little reflection on what they WANT to become, but is instead influenced by some other, unknown power.

Alright, now that their main powers are out of the way, here are some weaknesses. For starters, Sunlight. The power of the Sun(any sun, for the matter) burns away their impure flesh when its light comes into contact with them, and turns them to ash. While their Undead nature makes them more resistant to wounds(since their organs are no longer 'vital'), the removal of their head will slay them, as will just enough damage to their body shall eventually slay them. As well, they possess no innate affinity towards regenerative magic, nor any increased healing property, so most wounds they must either tough out or heal on their own with any recovery magic they know. Also, while the have the strengths of being Undead, they also have its weaknesses. Keep this in mind(Necromancers should be a big worry, what with the whole 'mastery of undeath' thing, dont wanna become some death-mage's thrall after all). Finally, while this will not kill them, they can be bound within a coffin or really any container by being placed within it, the container placed so that the door faces up, and a cross of Silver as tall as the container laid upon the door. After this is done, no member of the Duultok clan has the power to escape this confinement, as nothing they can do will damage the container...At least, not directly.

Finally, a note on their Grand Vampires, why the curse is bound so heavily to their Spirit, and why its called a 'Curse' in the first place. You see, once a Duultok Vampire achieves their place as a Grand Vampire, their spirit is forever bound to the physical plane. You see, the Curse was originally created by a very evil Necromancer, who knew a little something about the Afterlife, and more importantly, how to manipulate the Realm of Spirits with his Magic. He feared the prospect of Hell(now known as South) very much, so he called forth great and terrible magic to craft this curse, and stole the magic of others to help its forging. Any who bear this curse are incapable of being found by those within any of the three Realms of Spirit, from the Judge's Realm, Heaven, and Hell. They are invisible to them. Second, they will never be noticed by these Realm's agents. Not Angel nor Demon nor Reaper shall ever take notice of these wayward Spirits. Finally, those who bear this curse shall never move from this world. They can never move on, and their Spirits are in fact bound to the Plane of Life, and shall always return there if forced to leave...Whether they wish to or not. This does have a advantage, however-If the Duultok is in fact Slain in some way or another, they possess the capacity to be Resurrected. A sacrifice of blood, offered to whatever remains of them, and their Spirit will be forced back to its body, which will begin regenerating. I feel like I forget something, however...Ah, right! The Curse is progressive, and for much of the Duultok's time the Curse will be attached, but not bonded, to their Spirit. Only once the Curse is Strong enough for them to become a Grand Vampire will it have bonded to their Spirit, making it permanent. Until that point, the Curse is far too weak to remain after the death of the Duultok, and that is the end of their Undeath. Because of this fact, that the Curse isn't fully bonded to a normal Duultok, only a Grand Duultok Vampire is able to Resurrect in this manner. There are a few known Cures for this form of Vampirism, some that will return you to true Life, others which will swiftly end your Undeath, but a Grand Vampire can never be cured because their Curse has already become a part of them. It is a important choice for them to make...Progress to that stage and join the ranks of amongst the strongest Undead there may ever be, or allow for your eternal soul to move on when you do die?

All of that said, I will impose a ruling of my own. This last power is very, very easily abusable. Therefor, if your Grand Duultok ends up slain, but if the Coven of Vampires that he was leading(or any group he is a part of), or a person that Vampire is important to(with characterization between the two;a NPC is fine but it must be a recurring NPC important to the Vampire's life) survives the attack, then you may have him resurrected by them. HOWEVER! If that group(or character) doesn't end up surviving(and no Im not talking about some last surviving member, Im talking a fairly sizeable portion, enough for it to stay a organization), then you as a RPer lose the right to Resurrect them unless you can convince me and another Staff member that whatever other character you plan to Resurrect them with would actually give up some of their blood for this person. In the case that you no longer can Resurrect your own Vampire, all is not lost. Anyone else is allowed to Resurrect them, with you still owning the character, you are simply not allowed to do the Resurrect-ing.

Do you have what it takes to change your destiny, to defy FATE itself?
Let us test the limits of your abilities, and see if you have the WILL to do what no one else tries.
