As a result of the recent destruction of Karu, a wave of debris was hurling towards the planet, likely to cause massive damage, perhaps even destruction, to the planet, and likely to wipe out much of the life on the planet itself. Remnants of Anrufe ACID nanites were among the debris, and a few were still active.
