Some notes on Revenge
« on: August 13, 2012, 01:47:31 AM »
Revenge, as a being, is made of three raw concepts. Hate, Blame, and Misery. When he became corporeal, this was made physical in that he is comprised of three beings, each named after their trait.

Hate is red, and the largest of the three, though the dumbest. He can be incredibly dangerous. The more angry he gets, the more powerful, peaking out at an astounding level 5.

Misery is blue, and the smartest of the three. He acts more as a support mechanism, with strength buffing skills and fantastic healing power. He retains the most consciousness of the Revenge's actual personality.

Blame is yellow, and a little more well rounded the the others. He utilizes a broad, though balanced, magic style.

When Revenge splits into these forms he is still in control of them all, they don't become separate beings although they retain distinct personalities. It would be incredibly disorienting for average beings, but the actual Revenge persona remains as a manipulating back round element, and the individual forms have very little free will, though they actually form a different mind from the Revenge persona.
When split, each third has lesser power then Revenge. They have around level 3 magic, except for Hate when he reaches high aggression levels. This is balanced by bouts of unconsciousness after his fits. Though weaker individually, the Elements give Revenge the ability to be in several places at once and thus further his goals.

In additon, the Elements can form:

Jealousy, green (Blame + Misery); The two personalities form a strong being with fantastic regenerative skills.
Depression, purple (Misery + Hate): Hate's temper and exponentially powerful magic ability blend perfectly with the healing and defensive power of Misery, making an effective jack of all trades. This balanced form is a favorite of Revenge and is incredibly dangerous.
Wrath, orange (Blame + Hate): The most powerful form short of Revenge himself. Wrath can dish out a lot of damage, but can't take a whole lot in return.
Rule 26:A little sun screen never hurt anybody.

Tainting

To be tainted is a disease of the Spirit. Tainting has been happening since revenge first existed. Once revenge was executed, the soul would be hurt. But Revenge's corporeal form took it to a new level.

Tainting requires effort from both parties. Revenge will plant the disease, but the deeper a person desires revenge, or the more people it desires it against, the deeper tainting holds. Revenge often takes away more and more from a person to create a particularly lethal taint.
Most of the Cult of Revenge rituals, especially those from the Misery branch, are used to deepen the desire and create a more powerful taint. This can range from calm meditation to focus on the object of revenge and the feeling of satisfaction in exacting it, to the intense and horrifying Consumption Ritual which breeds incredibly powerful taints. All Vice Prophets have to go through the Consumption Ritual.

The Consumption Ritual literally takes away all that a person has, leaving them nothing but hate. Diseases are planted, robbing them of health and well being, virginity stolen through fierce rape rituals which one without their genitals, and friends are killed.

Tainting is in the Spirit, and it makes spirit energy easy to tap into and use. It expands the amount of spirit energy available and increases it's effectiveness. Tainting can easily be used to turn beings with little magic into mages. The Cult frequently turns low beings, like humans, into tainted beings to use them as grunts in their army. They often burn out their spirit energy and die.
