Hik, you're a great roleplayer, you've got more strengths than characterization too.
OOC Name: K2323 online, Kaleb offline. I have other screen-names as well as nicknames but I prefer to go by K2323 or K2 online.
OOC Age: 18
How Long have you been RPing? I'd say probably seven years this month. Started in September 2005, I believe.
How Many Characters Do You Have: I've created well over a hundred, I suspect, though I currently only use about forty, and really only actively RP with about twenty of those.
Most Common Characters Played: K2323 and various Anrufe members.
OCs that don't have a roleplay: Well, I'm a writer, so! Probably just Arterius and Noman from my book I'm working on.
Favourite Genres to RP: That's a tough one. Really, I love fantasy, but have a hard time getting the same imaginative spark for it going these days. Not that I'm any less passionate about fantasy. I just feel like I have a harder time tapping into the vast imagination that I know I have. I think part of this is either a result of or the cause of the fact that my writing style is generally a lot darker now. I sort of miss having less dark writing and more vast and imaginative.
In addition to fantasy, and perhaps tied with it, I like drama, but I suppose not quite in the same way that Hikaru likes drama. The drama I like focuses more on internal (and external) conflicts between the characters and their emotions. For instance, my character named K2323 (give me a break, I named him after my screen-name in 2005) has a deeply troubling past, and for years, he struggled to deal with the fact that not only is his family insane, but he lost his wife. He tended to cope with this through sexual means as well as denial about the state of his family.
Lastly, I'd say I also really enjoy Sci-Fi, Romance, and Mystery. Actually, mystery is probably more enjoyable to me than drama. I like lots of suspense in my roleplaying.
Favorite Type of Roleplay Scene: Scenes that allow us to flesh out new, exciting details about the characters and plot. That's what I love about roleplaying more than anything else. I like to start with the basics of a character and, along with the readers who read my posts and roleplay with me, find out about my characters along the way rather than come up with all the details before hand. Same applies with plot. I love creating rich characters (not financially but in essence) and plot. Adding a lot of complexity to it.
To give a less broad answer, as of late my favorite scenes are ones that explore the lives of the characters -- what they do on their day off from conquering the stars. What their homes are like. What their empires are like. I want to focus less on the dictators and more on the people who live in the empires.
I also really enjoy scenes like what we've been doing on Tefillin lately. Political conspiracies and the like. That's probably because I've been watching too much 24 lately. In any case, my tastes do often change, but it seems to be a consistent fact that I love detail and fleshing things out. A lot.
Strengths as an RP’er: Well that's a hard question. I suppose strengths tend to flow from passion -- if I'm less passionate about an RP, I tend to do less awesome in it. So, what parts of RPing do I find really get me passionate? Well, I guess it's my ability to include detail. Maybe.
I also feel that when I really apply myself I can have some good characters... Uh... I don't know my strengths. Honestly. I just have a passion for writing. And roleplaying.
Weaknesses as an RP’er: Where do I begin? Haha. Laziness, for one. It results in short posts and half-baked characters. I also feel that I probably am not imaginative enough anymore.
Your Ideal RP Partner(s): That sorta depends on what I'm RPing. Here, I feel most comfortable RPing with Hikaru and Orph. They have similar styles to my own. I can RP with most anyone though. There are some people who I have trouble RPing with, not because they are any less skilled than I am, just because their styles are so different than my own. Ultimately I'd say my ideal RP partner is someone who can keep imagination flowing and keep things interesting at every turn.
What was your first character?: I don't even remember his name. It was some antagonist in an RP on the Phoenix Forums. All I can remember is something about an island off the coast of a city and something about rain and a cave and a helicopter. Not sure exactly.
The first character that I can remember in detail is my character here, K2323, who I still use to this day. Started out as the biggest martysue but I like to think he's a bit more developed now.
What is your most recently created/RP’d character?: In terms of how recently it was approved, that'd be Ryan Deanc, a politician militarist on Memorial in the New Narrikian Empire. I've also recently requested two other characters, a Paxan named Dimakreet who I actually conceived two years ago but have fleshed out now, and Era Tyris. Come to think of it though, Era Tyris was technically conceived back in 2006, and Ryan Deanc in 2011, so... Not sure.
Favourite Characters NOT your own: Black on Escape. Hands down. Kai. Hikaru. Koty. Parody Prime. Most of Zak's characters. SCOUT. Benjamin South. Tepper. Asura. Jay. Nisorin and Celestie. in retrospect, Victor Price. Dmitri was a good character back in 2008. XanaCore and all the Xanaclones were always fun. The list goes on.
How did you get into Rp’ing?: Phoenix Forums. I LOVED the idea of themed RPs like Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends because it was a way to collab with others and expand the universe of the show more. Back then it wasn't as much of an interest as a hobby to me though. I didn't get a passion for it till 2006, where I partook in the OK, a Code Lyoko RP on a different community, and an RP board that spun off from CLTCG called Roleplay T6. I'd say Roleplay T6 really got my interest going.
My style progressively developed more and, to my disappointment at times, got darker. It wasn't until 2009 that things heated up for me and it turned into more than a game to me, but instead more of an art form. With the death of GE in 2008, the first CE was created, and I feel I really developed as a roleplayer there. It became more important to me to describe in great detail what my characters were doing, what they were going through, and so on. Then, about halfway through 2009, Orph lost interest in CE and prompted me to join him in finding new boards to expand our skills on.
So, while remaining a member of CE, I surfed various RP communities out there, along with Orph, to expand my skills. We realized that, up until that point, our RPing had been novice level. We RPed some fairly advanced RPs like Darkwall which taught us a lot. I feel that it was then, RPing with Orph and others and branching off from the familiar community I'd been RPing with, that I really became more serious about RPing.
I also experienced a resurge in passion for a short time in late 2011 during the P3C event here. I began to read a lot more books to get writing tips.
Longest RP: SP. As of June, it's been around for six years, though honestly you can probably cut out a good year and a half or so as times that we were taking breaks from the RP. Other long RPs I've done are Escape, Cosmic Empires (the first one, lasted for a year), KH Darkness/Shadow Warriors/Code Lyoko, and Terra RP.
