Valyrians, the Dragon Knights
« on: October 03, 2012, 01:42:21 PM »
Race Name: Valyrians

Physical Appearance: Valyrians appear like normal humans when first looked upon although their hair and eyes definitely stand out. Their hair is almost always a platinum-blonde colouration although it can go to pure silver in some rare cases and it grows at an exponential rate, causing most of the Valyrians to have very, very long hair. Their eyes are also almost always a variant of purple but can go to red or very dark blue and are slitted.

Abilities, Traits: The main trait that the Valyrians have is a strange affinity with dragons. They are able to communicate with their Birth Dragon and even have the same slitted eyes that their lizard-esque friends do. Not only do they share some of the looks, but they are completely fire resistant down to their hair and eyes, fire cannot touch them in any way, shape or form, it just doesn't harm them. It still harms their clothing of course but not themselves. The Valyrians also learn to have an immunity to the elements that their dragons are capable of breathing.

In addition to being fire-resistant, the Valyrians are also highly capable pyromancers, able to conjure up fire easily and in very large quantities and control it to their whims with ease. The control they have is also very strong and they can even form weapons and armour out of the flame that they create. The other magic that Valyrians are highly skilled with is Rune magic, this type of magic is highly focused on enchanting and infusing but the runes can be drawn in midair to have some very powerful effects, time is what restrains this magic, much more than power or aiming.

The last thing that the Valyrians are exceptionally good at is forging, they have specialist Forge Dragons bred for just such a thing. These dragons breath a type of unearthly grey fire that burns hotter than any forge fire imaginable, within this magical fire they forge some of the sharpest blades in existence. These swords are given names once a person takes one and are made of a smokey grey steel, sometimes with ripples of colour running through them but these are extremely rare. Armours and such can also be forged and these will be exceptionally strong whilst still being very, very light.

Typical Lifespan: Around 110 Years

Public or private?: Public :3

Other information: Every Valyrian when they are born are put into a pack of dragons, once one dragon picks the child, that is the Birth Dragon for the child and they are raised with the Dragon for the rest of their lives. Occasionally, the dragon of the child's mother may also choose the child and in that case, they will end up with a much older and more powerful dragon.

Also, Valyrians are almost exclusively female, a single male is born for every 5000 children and as such, they aren't given a dragon and are basically kept back to allow more Valyrians to be born, the males are kept as slaves basically although they aren't treated as such. A Valyrian can mate with most humanoid races however although the offspring will always be a Valyrian, with possibly a trait taken from the father.

...I can see the 'always a Valyrian' being loopholed with the Elemental's own "always either one or the other'. :P
In any case, though, approved.

It seems like an Eragon rip. And you honestly approved the fire immunity? Natural fires is one thing, but no one can be completely immune to magic fires.

Thats mostly what I took it to mean, well natural and non-augmented magic fires(like Magic Fires which are just fire made from magic or blah). As for the Eragon Rip thing, please explain? I haven't really read those books

In the first book, Eragon discovered the egg Saphira was in. However, a marking appeared on him that was a sogn this was his dragon. The dragon in Eragon picks the child. Which is of course, the protagonist. All dragon in that world pick a partner before they hatch. And, like in eragon, the two are now inseperable.  The only thing not mentioned to completely relate is that if the dragon or the rider dies, the other has a chance of dying as well. Brom was luky but his dragon wasn't.

Just to point out, I have never seen Eragon nor read the Inheritance Cycle so I wouldn't have a single clue about anything like that. Also, I really should've said that it wasn't true fire immunity, just immunity to heat basically, so magical fires would still affect a Valyrian.
