A Craftman's Journey
« on: October 15, 2012, 07:54:57 PM »
A large man, with corded, and honed muscles appeared near a village. His deep red hair billowing in the wind. With a hammer and chisel as the only possession besides the cloths of his back. He approched the village at a consistent pace, each step without hesitation, the rocks jumping a little with each stride. It was a gait that exuded confidence as well as purpose.

The village he appeared near was a protectorate of house Oakheart and their holdfast could be seen on the hill behind the village. The Castle was a large, white affair with long green banners hanging from the four towers that jutted out from the walls. The flags were a forest green with a brown tree upon the front, the sigil of House Oakheart.

The village itself was a rather small one. The buildings were all made of stone however and many, many Valyrians could be seen walking around. All of them had two similarities about their appearance, the first was that they all had long, platinum-blonde hair, the shortest reaching the girl's shoulders and the longest reaching the woman's ankles. The second thing about them was that they were all female, even down to the Flamesmiths working their forges.

Another strange thing would be noticed by the man walking towards the village, there were dragons everywhere. The largest ones were working at the Forges and they didn't seem to have any wings and the smaller were flying over head or waiting outside of the village so as not to take up too much space.

For a long time, it had been hard to impress Muth. For Eons, he had worked as a craftsman across countless worlds. For the first time, there was a silent twinkle of delight in his eyes. For a long time, he just sat and watched. Observing the Women and the dragons work the forges.

At one point, he got up. A Black Marble stone appeared in the middle of the street, as he got to work carving it. He was two hours into this carving, as it begun to take shape.

The forge process seemed to not be like any Earth forges of old. Instead, the long ores of a strange type of grey metal were placed in a basin of stone, lined with metal that glowed with runes and the dragons breathed their fire upon it. It would be noted however that the women working the forges were either naked or wore enchanted armour. The fire from the dragons was a variety of colours from white to gold and all others apart from black. After the fire had been breathed, the Smith would open a small hatch in the basin and let the metal pour into the mold. After it had been cooled down with a small rune, drawn in midair with magic, the metal was taken out and hammered into its sharpness. The end product was a weapon or armour piece made of a smokey grey metal, some had ripples of colour running through them though.

Once the block of marble appeared in the street, a few Valyrians gathered around to watch the craftsman at work, he obviously wasn't Valyrian and that made him a source of wonder and attention and many just stood and watched him as he worked. The Smiths continued their work however and occasionally glanced over to Muth as he worked.

Muth was intrigued by the Smiths. The skill and precision was something he admired. Ever more so, it was the sheer amount of smiths that impressed him. The Dragons warming his heart, he continued to work on the sculpture. It took shape, as layer by layer the stone was carefully removed.

What was left, in acute detail was a Dragon, engulfing a naked Smith in fire. The edges of the stone, cultivated a sense of provocative sensuality in the design, while showing a keen application of the Smiths skills. The base of the sculpture was a mosaic of armor and swords, that the Dragon and Smith stood upon.

"Which ever Smith take me as her apprentice will receive this as my gift, and all my effort for her forge." It was booming soft voice.

Once he was done, quite a lot of the Valyrians murmured amongst themselves about the detail and exquisiteness of the design that the block had become. A lot of the Flamesmiths had also turned around to admire the sculpture and a few looked ready to step forwards and offer an apprenticeship to Muth.

They were all beaten however by the crowds parting and a Valyrian stepping forwards towards Muth. She was a rather short girl, standing only 5 foot in height and being slender as a stick but she was a Flamesmith. Her clothing was a long robe of flowing golden material sashed across the waist with a belt of red leather and fastened in place with a metal buckle made of the same metal as the Flamesmiths were using.

"It is a fine piece." She started, her voice quiet and smooth, while her bright orange eyes trailed over Muth slowly and carefully, absorbing all the detail she could. "My name is Azarai of House Oakheart, I am Lord Oakheart's own Flamesmith." She gave a slight bow and all the Flamesmiths nearby put two fingers to their lips in a salute. "Although you might have a problem with being an apprentice if you are not Valyrian. I need to ask you, ser, are you flame proof? If not then you will die at the forge."

Muth nodded and Bowed in return, Muth locked eyes with Azarai.  "Fire is not an issue, the question is... am I your apprentice?"

A small flash of mirth appeared in the flamesmith's eyes as she locked them with the newcomer's own. Azarai appeared to think about it for a moment, her finger slowly and gently tapping her bottom lip before she looked up at the castle above the town and nodded. "If you say fire is no bother, ser then yes, I shall take you on as my apprentice. I'd like to see more of your own Craft skills however before I decide fully what to get you to make." She smiled and then beckoned to him with her finger, a slow 'Come-Hither' motion. "We shall go see Lord Oakheart and I will let you meet her."
