Return Fire
« on: October 17, 2012, 02:09:49 PM »
The Vionix didn't like so much deception and trickery in their attacks like the Anrufe and as such, a long distance away from the station and any of their defenses, a massive armada appeared. The Armada consisted of forty-three large ships. The smallest of them huddled together in a diamond formation near the back and the bigger ones formed up in a line with the largest ship, a massive pillar of metal known as Shimmering Dawn.

This entire Hyper Drive in however was a deception as two large ships appeared on the other side of the Space Station. They just hoped that the other ships would cause a big enough distraction to let Thunder and Lightning, who were connected at this point, sit there and charge their beam weapon to tear open the Wind Storm Academy and make it easier for the other vessels.

All along the first group, troops were mobilized and the Celestians were notified, they might be needed for this but one of the most important parts of this entire missions were in the hangar bay of the Vionix Titan. The Kunai Class fighters, mounting large EMP arrays, that would be sent forwards to shut down the Station and allow easy access but that was plan A, there were several others.

"Sir! Multiple unidentified contacts!" yelled out a technician to Devyn, who, along with Delta, maintained this station. "Should I call in DAIS and the fleet?"

"Not yet," Devyn replied, "But give them a heads up and tell them to be ready to jump in if we need them to save our asses."

Devyn pulled up the radar on his console from the center of the station, the main Control Room. Examining the number of contacts and their locations, Devyn started giving orders to the various station personnel. The Anrufe's offense wasn't always the best these days, but their defense was often spot on. Now it was time to prove that fact.

"Hit them hard!" Devyn shouted out as weapons came online.

While the majority of the ships were out of weapon's range, it didn't mean the Anrufe couldn't cheat a little bit. They first began to open portals in the enemy fleet that was out of range, and they began to bombard the enemy with G-Bursts, small bombs that would release Gamma radiation, enough to fry unshielded crafts of smaller proportions -- particularly fighters. It also acted as a regular bomb, though, and would, no doubt, impact damage on the shields even if those shields would prevent the radiation from frying the fighters.

Now, they turned to focus on the two massive ships that were in range. They sent out Heat-Sinking Energy missiles at the large ships while at the same time, they began to charge up the Material Phase Shift Defense Weaponry and Tower Time Sun.

OOC: 1/2 Posts until the Material Phase Shift Defense Weaponry attack.
1/4 posts until the Tower Time Sun attack.

"Weapons are powering up, they've got some heavy ordinance from what I can tell from the scans" One of the helmsmen called back to the Captain of the Vionix Titan. He just nodded and a smirk crossed his face. "Ready our weapons and our fighters, we're going to hit these guys hard and show them the true might of the Vionix."

It also acted as a regular bomb, though, and would, no doubt, impact damage on the shields even if those shields would prevent the radiation from frying the fighters.

Unfortunately for the Anrufe, all Vionix vessels were equipped with Displacer Barriers which would absorb the energy from both the explosions, however not all and the shields would take minor damage, and all the energy from the Gamma Radiation. Any radiation not absorbed however wouldn't affect the ships at all as the MARKER II system had lead in its base, nullifying the radiation.

As for the return attack, the Vionix first decided to remove the defenses of the Station. They done this by sending out a large swarm of Sword class fighters and behind them, were around a dozen Kunai class EMP fighters. This formation slid forwards through space as fast as they could, the Swords acting as a defense mechanism for the vulnerable Kunais. At a certain point forwards, the Kunai class would vanish from radar and appear around the Academy, inside the shielding, and all of them would let off a significant EMP burst around them at different points of the Academy. The ships would then vanish once again and appear much closer to the Vionix fleet and attempt to fly back in.

The Storm Class Sub-Titans realised that they'd been caught and instantly opened a hyper space gate that brought them around to join the rest of the fleet. They stayed connected however and just waited to see the results of the EMP, if it was successful, then the Anti-Matter cannons might have to be deployed.

"Sir," the technician reported, "Scans indicate that they have heavy shielding. Possibly dampeners. We're not sure. Whatever they're using, it seems our blasts didn't affect them much."

"Right," Devyn replied, watching the scene play out on his radar as they sent out their fighters. When the fighters managed to bypass their shields entirely, obviously, Devyn was alarmed. "CHANGE THE SHIELD'S POWER INPUT!" he shouted, not bothering to explain as the technicians followed his orders, diverting power from shielding to weapons.

As much of the shielding power was diverted, the range of the shield decreased -- to be precise, the shield now reappeared with its outer-edges acting like a knife, cutting right into the Kunais on the front line, and locking the rest of the fighters outside the shield range. This would likely destroy all, if not, most of the Kunai fighters, by cutting them in half, but the question was, which half of the Kunai fighters were the EMPs in?

EAMs, small, thermos-like devices, were released into the space around the ship to absorb any stray bombs or energy-based attacks the Kunai might release, including the EMP bursts. In addition, new Anti-Portal and Anti-Teleportation fields went up around the smaller shield radius to prevent a similar trick from occurring once more.

"How the HELL did they catch us off guard?" Devyn asked the men in the control room, "Call in the fleet. Tell them to get their asses over here. In the meanwhile, keep your heads up and don't make any stupid mistakes."

The Heat-Seeking Energy Missiles easily flew through the hyperspace windows on the tails of the enemy ships, seeing as hyperspace would obviously release quite a bit of heat. The missiles came out on the other side and would likely collide into the enemy, seeing as it'd be hard for an enemy to mobilize so quickly right after coming out of hyperspace, especially with the fact that they probably weren't expecting the missiles to follow them.

"Sir! The Material Phase Shift Defense Weaponry is ready! Should we fire!?"

"Not yet," Devyn replied, "Now that we've eliminated their dirty little tricks, they'll have to get closer if they want to do any real damage. We want them in range. Then, we fire."

"Roger," he replied.

"Now then," Devyn said, partially to himself, "What will you do next?"

OOC: 2/4 Posts until Tower Time Sun. Material Phase Shift Defense Weaponry is charged and will be used later.

As the Kunais had appeared extremely close to the Station, only around half would be destroyed, those that were closer in, around the weapon outputs to avoid them would be unharmed but the further out ones would be sheared in half by the shielding and then detonate. This was when the EMPs went off on EVERY Kunai class still alive because all of them were equipped with an EMP array over any normal weaponry.

In addition, new Anti-Portal and Anti-Teleportation fields went up around the smaller shield radius to prevent a similar trick from occurring once more.

As the Kunais had came into the shielding and fired almost instantly, these EAMs wouldn't stop the first wave of EMPs but unfortunately they would prevent the Vionix using the tactic again when the EMPs wore off. Still, the Kunais had mainly done their job and that would make this much easier.

As the missiles came out on the tails of the Storm Class ships, they struck the Displacer Barrier which tore off most of the energy from every single missile and then they hit the dual strength shielding of the interlocked ships which caused minimal damage to the Storm Classes which continued to charge up their Prism Cannon to rip through the enemy fleet. It was all a matter of waiting now.

The rest of the ships turned and released their fighter screens, the MARKER II systems, which contained lead, protecting them from the Gamma Radiation that permeated the space around the ships. The ships then turned to a diagonal of the station and started moving, this would allow them all to fire their broadsides on the Wind Storm Academy when in range.

The troops on all of the ships were all ready now, just waiting for a chance to teleport onto the Academy and start fighting. Amongst these troops there were several walkers and even a few of the buggies if they could fit but it was unlikely and if they could they would be brought in later.

The next level that the EMPs would have to get through was the Carvenplaren Walls that coated the inner-hull of the station. They had been laced with liquid shielding, so, naturally, the hull also blocked things like EMPs. Only, unfortunately, as this was a Narrikian structure and the entire station had yet to be redone, the outerhull was not made of led or coated in liquid shielding. As such, while the weapon systems themselves were still fine on the station, most of the external cannons and firing mechanisms had been disabled.

To put it more simply, the Anrufe would have a harder time shooting bullets when most of their guns had now been disabled.

With internal power still fine and ready to go, the Anrufe prepared their response.

"START FIRING THE CASSY!" one Anrufe ordered.

Panels all along the hull suddenly opened up as red beams started to shoot out from the ship right at the fighters which were, of course, already very nearby. What did these beams do? Well, to put it simply, they were shrink rays. (here)

Meanwhile, a huge cannon rose up from within the ship, now mounted on its top and ready to fire the moment the enemy ships were in range.

The zombie apocalypse had began. Overnight, the dead turned corrupted. As their bodies and spirits became suddenly incompatible, the revived would be helpless as their bodies went crazy. Infecting. Killing. Biting. Eating flesh. Everyone who died, regardless of rather they'd been bit, would find themselves suddenly transformed into zombies due to the Spirit Realm failure. Needless to say, things were taking a turn for the worst.

A rather large amount of the fighters, both of Sword and Halberd class were hit by the CASSY and they shrunk to miniscule sizes and moved back to the ships that they came from but there was no way that the station would hit all of the fighters, especially not the smaller Shuriken classes that moved out of the way of the CASSY just in time to not get struck and the beams bounced harmlessly off of the shielding of the Vionix vessels.

"Sir, we're in range with all weapons" The helmsman called out to the Captain and he smirked, his eyes showing no hate or rage, only a mad form of glee as he activated his comms and sent out a transmission to the entire fleet.

<<This is the Captain of Shimmering Dawn all ships open fire, full armaments, wide spread, blanket shot. I repeat, open fire, full armaments, wide spread blanket shot.>> As soon as this command was received by the fleet, all of them charged up their weaponry.

Then space became rather less empty as hundreds upon thousands of shells flew out from the cannons that covered the Vionix Titan and all of the Scythe and Katana classes. From the larger Secret and Archive classes as well as Shimmering Dawn lances opened up and beams of light and fire shot forwards at light speeds to hopefully slam against the station's shielding and bring them down. Take-Over didn't matter all too much anymore, just annihilation of an Anrufe base to reduce their hold altogether.

"Sir! The fleet is in range and charging weapons!"

"Right," the commander replied, "Fire."

From atop of the station, a HUGE, transparent wave fired from the Material Phase Shift Defense Weaponry. It would intercept much of the incoming fire, breaking that fire down to basic atoms and spreading them all throughout space. For the shells that didn't get hit by the wave, they would soon meet the shields of the station and while, yes, the kinetic force would likely weaken the shields, they would likely survive. Even if they didn't, the EAMs were still floating around inside the shields ready to absorb the energies that might stray inside.

"SIR! SHIELDS DOWN TO 20%!" a technician yelled after the firing was done. "How do we respond?"

"Start charging the Material Phase Shift Defense Weaponry for another round. Fire Time Tower Sun at the big one while they're still in range."

A new cannon rose up out of the space station and pointed in the general direction of Shimmering Dawn. Rounds of small cannon balls started flying towards the Shimmering Dawn.

"Well damn!" The Captain growled as most of the fleet's shots were wiped out by the massive wave but something that size would have to take a while to recharge again. So it was time for fun.

<<SALVO TWO! I REPEAT: SALVO TWO!>>

At once, every ship reloaded and opened fire at the enemy station once more, again, thousands of shots and lances peppered the space around the station as the ships continued on their diagonal course across the space station to allow all weapons to fire upon the Wind Storm.

The enemy fire moving towards the Titan however was largely ignored, the small shots wouldn't carry that much energy and as soon as they hit the Displacer Barrier, which weren't shields, they lost most of their energy and would in fact detonate just short of the shielding on Shimmering Dawn leaving the massive pillar of metal almost untouched by the shots, only a few actually hit the shielding at all, these ones which the Barrier couldn't take all of their energy from.

Aboard the, at the moment linked, Storm Class Sub-Titan, the captains turned the vessel around and two cannon shots joined the massive throng firing through the Vionix salvo. These cannons appeared like any other apart from the fact that they weren't loaded with explosives unlike the rest. These shots instead held a gravitational field inside of them which held together a core of Anti-Matter. If these two shells hit the enemy station, each of the fields would fail and a combined force of 3900 megatons would go off on the outside of the station from the 100 pound AM core inside of the shells. Hopefully, the Anrufe would get lucky, otherwise there wouldn't be much of the station left.

Unfortunately for the Vionnix, Time Tower Sun was more than a simple display of cannon balls. They were mini-colliders. which began to warp the Displacer Barriers, twisting them and forming small holes as the black holes appeared for milliseconds before disappearing. The firing was strategically planned so that Time Tower Sun balls could infiltrate the Displacer Barriers through these new holes and start attacking any shielding beyond the barriers.

To deal with the incoming attacks, the Anrufe emitted a Decay Field. Their shields were recovering slowly and they needed to buy time. Decay Fields would provide that by literally decaying incoming fire power.

Considering the size of the Vionix Titan, the shots would hit along the Displacer Barrier, warping some of it and then the others would hit the Kinetic Dampener and open that up but energy weapons wouldn't get in, the other shield was still up at the moment. The rest of the ships started to close in on Shimmering Dawn to form a wall capable of protecting the titan if need be but they weren't covering the Titan's weapons just yet.

As for the shots firing through the Decay Field, most would disintegrate apart from a few dozen, included in these shots was one of the Decimator Shells, still carrying its Anti-Matter core. The other had been decayed away and then the gravity field disabled, leaving a one hundred pound lump of Anti-Iron sitting in the middle of space.

Once more, just to spite the Anrufe base, every single ship opened up with their full contingents of cannons and lances once more, intent on bringing down the damned station once and for all.

The Storm Class had once more trick up its sleeve though and it turned towards the Wind Storm before a light started to build up between the two ships. This light intensified and then  launched forwards, through a quintuplet of focusing arrays in which is got smaller and smaller until it was only about twenty meters in diameter and then shot forwards. This beam was purple-white in colour and was controlled through a series of light and gravity manipulators which would move it up and down to carve through Super-Capitals even if they had their shields up and this station, with its weakened shields, would have a big problem with the weapon.

Alas, the space station did blow. Unable to defend itself from such advanced technology without a proper fleet, the entire station exploded with a massive force.

The fleet, calling it a mission success didn't end there. Instead they sent forth fighters and smaller vessels to pick up salvage and search through the wreckage to try and learn more about the weapons the Anrufe were using. Hopefully they would end up quite lucky and get one of the larger weapons or at least a sample of it to improve their own weapons.

Ventus Tempestus was mostly full of Narrikian technology which was easily destroyed. The only Anrufe technology that really survived was CutFiber technology, seeing as it hardened from the heat.

Seeing as there was not all that much left to take. The Vionix fleet packed up and moved off onto their next conquest. None of the ships were even wounded, this was promising.
