An Unexpected Arrival
« on: November 15, 2012, 06:21:16 PM »
Within Vionix space, a small fleet(around seven) of somewhat ramshackle, and VERY jury-rigged by this point, corvettes, in formation around a clear lead vessel somewhere between corvette and frigate in class(also quite ramshackle), made their way for the planet's stations. The guard corvettes bore the identifications of 'Paladin-(# between 1 and 10)', while the command vessel's identification was Chapel 86th. They hailed the stations as they neared, seeking to dock for much needed repairs and resupply, exclaiming that it was a pleasant surprise to have found a civilized system within their current route. They hadn't expected to find any civilization for at LEAST another week or so, completely unaware of the presence of these peoples.

In the cargo hold of the Chapel, sever silver-lined coffins were stored beneath general trading goods, tucked away and hidden. Yet...Something about this was strange. Stranger than coffins being hidden near trade goods, anyways. The occupants were not entirely dead, if not necessarily alive...And of the few sounds they made, if one were to listen, most were quite very fearful in nature.

((Sorry Red, never even noticed))

Vionix space however was more than just normal space. The massive Co-Ord Scrambler towers meant that ships couldn't just hyper drive anywhere near any planet and the seven vessels, rather than appearing anywhere nearby, would appear at the edge of the system and pinged really rather quickly by the space-stations dotted throughout the entire system.

<<Vessels, proceed to co-ordinates 127 by 990 by 101 and wait for emergency repair frigates and personnel to come aboard. We will have you up and running in a pinch>>

After the transmission was sent (The Co-ords pointed to a small point just over Arcanis IV) a trio of modified Frigates, carrying a lot of repair crew and tools started to move towards the planet's pole to await the ships.

Another transmission was sent, in response to the one received from the strange vessels.

<<We apologise in that we cannot let you dock. We have military laws in place and unidentified vessels are a top security hazard. We mean no ill but we do try and keep our standards upheld>>

The ships hadn't hyper-spaced to begin with, far too heavily damaged to engage in FTL travel safely. It wasn't that they were blocked from hyper-space upon meeting Vionix borders...They were already moving under mundane means of propulsion. Even being denied the ability to land or dock, however, they remained cordial towards the Vionix ships.
[Of course! We would not accuse you of ill-will for being wary of a fleet you dont know, small as our own is. As knights of our order, we shall respect and obey your laws while we are within your space. Any aid is welcome]

Was their response, as they moved in formation towards the indicated coordinates. Once there, they shut down their primary and secondary thrusters entirely, as opposed to leaving them with low power but online. At this stage of damage, they were keeping all unnecessary systems offline to conserve power for what systems needed them. One of the few systems kept online were comm systems, both to allow the owners of this space that they were still there and to simply exchange information.

[If you dont mind our asking, what emergency within your nation is calling for military governance?]

Meanwhile, once more in the cargo hold, a hole was quietly completed in one of the coffins. The...Entity, for lack of a better word, was careful to be as quiet as possible while making the hole over the course of the days they'd all been captured. Their captors thought them all to be of the Immortal Clan, who could be bound by silver and crosses. If they noticed that she was of the Crawler's Clan while she clawed her way out, they'd surely use a much more secure holding cell than a fancy box. She saw her finished escape tunnel, a mere two inches in diameter and close to the floor, and smiled to herself. But she needed restraint. She couldn't just leave, not yet. The Order would notice a empty coffin, and besides, she wasn't about to abandon her Coven-mates. But there WAS something she could do, even if she couldn't entirely leave. And so, unnoticed by their zealot-captors...Twenty spiders, more orin less, crawled out of the hole in the coffin, one by one, and made their way stealthily towards the ventilation ducts in the cargo hold to spread around the ship. She wouldn't abandon her friends, oh no. But if there was one thing the Crawlers were good for, it was that they made truly excellent spies.

((Sorry for taking so long, Hiro Dx I feel terrible now))

The Frigates would draw in close to the other ships and draw up alongside the most heavily damaged ones. Once they noticed quite how bad the damage was they sent for more help. Sure enough, within moments a repair frigate surrounded every ship of the other fleet.

From each frigate came a series of small dropships, Morningstar class to be precise, and landed within the ships. Once inside, they'd start to move around and work out any damages inside and start minor repairs and handing out medical supplies or food to the people inside if they needed it.

On the outside however, EVA teams went out to the outsides of the ships and started to work on broken plasma and fuel lines to fix the engines and hyper drives. Every single one was a good mechanic and fairly quickly the damages would start to be fixed up. Starting off with the life support systems for any damages before moving on to the reactors, hyper drives and then engines, giving them time to cool down.

While the Vionix worked on the ships, the vessels of the Vionix sent back a communication to these ships.

<<Well, we doubt it's too secret but we are at war at the moment with a terrorist cell known as the Anrufe. Also, if you don't mind us asking too much, what Empire and Species do you hail from? We've had quite a few newcomers over the past year.>>

((...Aaaaaaauuuuuuuuugggggghhhhh I need to stop being hypocritical about this sort of thing. Really should've posted sooner considering I was asking you to. '><))

The ships kept in standby mode and allowed the others to perform repair work on them. From what could be seen, everyone inside the docking bays were wearing a form of atmospherically sealed Power-Armor. It was rather easy to see the progression of rank and file; it seemed that higher ranking members wore more elaborate armor, and wielded more aesthetically inspiring weaponry. No way this could be a empirical military force, or at least not the regular soldiers; the armoring and weaponry given out was far too impractical in detail required to produce to be purely standard issue for a large organization. The colors appeared to be primarily white or silver with a gold and blue trim, though several suits of this armor had clearly been in extensive battle recently. Despite the imposing armor, however, they were very grateful for the assistance granted to them, and helped with the repairs as best they could by providing information on what systems were what and where the injured were. Meanwhile, the transmission was responded with:

[A terrorist cell? Hmm. Cant say we've had interactions with them before, but we dont typically direct our efforts towards those sorts. As for us, we aren't. We have no Empirical affiliation nor primary species, though most of our members happen to be mages of some form. Instead, we are all knights of the Order of the Day, a sect of Paladins dedicated to rooting out the vile powers of Necromancy and the Undead.]

The Spiders crawled throughout the Chapel 86th's vents, gathering information by overhearing conversation and looking through vent slits. At the vents leading to the docking bays, they overhead the talk between the Coven's captors and this new faction. They crawled along, slowly and deliberately, until they were close enough to the groups to get a good look at them while far enough to hide with the supplies. Colorful eyes...But could they be human...? Been a while since I've had chance to see a True Mortal...Hrn...Could be Zarethians though, those guys are pervasive. Wouldn't explain the white hair...But that could dtill be just a regional thing. Guess there'll only be one way to find out... She thought as the spiders scattered and headed to a single of the dropships from all different directions. Hopefully they'd get to one while it was still down...Better yet, hopefully this one'd stay down and she'd get the spiders back when this was over. She wanted her eye back and she didn't have a patch or anything until then. At least she could make due with her sleeve for now, but other than that...

When the Vionix came properly aboard the differences were startlingly obvious. The Vionix armour was all function, it appeared like a skin tight suit of black material with many plates of black armour slid over the top, providing heavy protection everywhere but heavier protection around the thighs, chest and shoulders. The vionix themselves weren't much different body wise though, they were humanoid and in varying height, the shortest being five foot and six inches and the tallest being around seven and a half feet. One of the Vionix walked up to the most ornately armoured warrior and bowed slightly to him. Straightening up, he tilted his head slightly and a pair of insignia appeared on his shoulders. One was a trio of blades pointing down with a star over them, marking him as a brigadier, the second was a winged circle, marking him out as fleet rather than army.

"Greetings, soldiers. I am Brigadier Omithoth. I'm afraid to say to you that the current situation is not looking good at all. Your ships are heavily damaged and we can't do all that much but preliminary repairs out of a station so we're going to bring you along and dock you in one of the Stations and get you sorted up." He smiled, his helmet polarising to show his face, rugged but honest, and nodded.

The spiders however would find that quite a few dropships had planted themselves and two of the soldiers were chatting to each other. "It isn't often that we end up with this sort of thing happening." One said to the other, her eyes a shiny red.

"Quite true but our space has been seeing a lot of new traffic coming in and out. I'm not really surprised all that much." The other was a male, of purple eyes.

"I wasn't talking about that, idiot, I was talking about the calls. Something about necromancy, that's ridiculous, we've met magic but the undead? I highly doubt it." She laughed it off and shook her head before standing up and sliding her helmet on. "Well, time to get moving, the Vionix Fleet doesn't wait around."

The guy just nodded and put his helmet on before walking away with the girl, giving out a small piece of information to the spiders as to who actually the repair troops happened to be.
