Race Name: Artisan Sages, sometimes called Trade Sages
Physical Appearance: Originally humanlike, now, whatever the original race was with some specific tattoos connecting them to the Trade Nexus.
Abilities, Traits: Artisans sages are granted incredible magical powers that are very specific. They help them accomplish the goals of their trade. A carpenter would have magnificent wood manipulation, nail setting skills, a painter might have control over paint, a bartender might have control over alcohol, etc. Although rather specific, it can be quite fluid. If it has mildly to do with ones trade, it can be used magically. It's not set in stone, but it does have to follow certain rules. A woodworker couldn't control stone, and vice versa. But some trades do overlap, it has to do entirely with the individual. Although these abilities are mostly used to further ones craft, most can be used for combat arts when pressed, as long as the weapons and spells used have to do with ones trade. Artisans will find their powers enhanced by using objects of their trade, i.e., a Artisan janitor could use magic powers easier by wielding a broom as a staff.
Typical Lifespan: Whatever the original race was, typically the Trade Energy helps them to live longer, adding another quarter of their usual life span.

Other information: Long, long ago, in the Sage Dimension, there existed a race of Sages unlike any other. Instead of mythical animals, these sages had the powers of whatever their trade was. They were known as the finest workers in existence, if you got an Artisan Sage to do the work you wanted, it would be done with such fine skill and precision. They were incredible, and so devoted to their arts, that their very being became attached to it. All their energies became concerned with their specific trade. They grew to be so powerful in this very specific art, that when they died, all their energies, including spirit energies, went into a pocket dimension that acted as a pool of energy. This energy became something new, a sub-Spirit Energy called Trade Energy. It was a very special type of energy, it was powerful if used right. Eventually, the original Trade Sages, once great, all faded from memory, leaving behind only their Trade Energy, locked away in it's special home. It became known as the Trade Nexus.
 They stayed their for millenia. But one day, around 10 years ago, something new rose from this strange dimension, that had only grown stronger with time. A being was incarnated from the pooled knowledge of the Energy, whom they called the Herald. The Herald traveled all across the Planes searching for workers worthy of the title of Artisan. When she did, she offered them a deal. She would grant them the ability to use Trade Magic, to become the greatest craftsmen of their field and great power, but when they died, their Energies would be converted to Trade Magic and placed back into the pool. Many have been given this deal, and many have taken it.
