Every Relorian newborn is born into one of three spheres of magic, Arcana, Shamai, or Diviae. There seems to be some confusion regarding this, so I'm going to elaborate. Each sphere has distinct magical and physical attributes that are passed onto the Relorian, and you can only be born into one sphere. The physical attributes are aesthetic ones, and usually don't start to manifest until puberty. Until a Relorian becomes of at least level 3 overall magical skill, they cannot use magic from the other two spheres at all. Once they are level three, they can use level 1 magic from other spheres, with it going up for each level. So, Nisorin can use level 5.5 Arcana, but only level 3.5 Shamai or Diviae, while Iroku can use level 5.5 Shamai, but only 3.5 Diviae or Arcana.
Arcana
Outwardly, it's your stereotypical mage's magic. Structured elemental magic like fireballs, lightning bolts directed from fingertips or weapon tips, etc. Spells like bolts of kinetic energy, barriers, and other neutral energies are also amongst their repertoire. Physically, it causes the hair colors to either darken, or change to more extreme colors, like brighter blues, greens, even pinks and reds. Eye color is usually not modified unless casting the more powerful of spells, and then the color depends on the spell. They prefer to use various crystals and gemstones for their creations, including the crystalline Curicite.
Diviae
Diviae magic encompasses holy and pure magic, as well as unholy and corruptive magics, defensive barriers and wards, and the two sides of Necromancy, raising and laying-to-rest. They are priests, monks, paladins, and medics. Those born under the Diviae sphere often grow to have blond or light brown hair, with blue or green eyes, often speckled with their original color. Their culture's material of preference are various refined and/or alloyed metals, including steel alloys and refined titanium.
Shamai
Shamai magic is that of nature and spirits. Raw usage of the elements, from commanding fire and ice directly, to dropping lightning bolts from the clouds, to generating and manipulating water flows, as well as geomancy. Their magic allows for speech with animals, plants, spirits, and other intelligent natural constructs. Unlike the other two spheres, Shamai culture is more along a tribal style than modern. Shamai weapons and armor are made using bone, hide, fangs, claws, and other naturally occurring materials. Due to this, their ideal homes are often near the habitats of unusual creatures.
Weave
Every Relorian is born with a Weave, a spherical 'organ' in their spirit that is filled with varying kinds of energy. At the center of the organ is a sphere of unknown composition that generates these energies constantly. The rate of generation and the size of the actual Weave are different for each individual. The color of the outer shell changes depending on the sphere the Relorian is born under.
Relorians have been doing research into the Weave, its origin, and its composition. As of yet, the composition of the center sphere and outer shell remain unknown, and are a great deal different to anything that even the Ancient Relorians had encountered elsewhere. The integrity of the outer shell is of great importance to a Relorian, particularly so amongst the more magically powerful. Should cracks or holes appear in the shell, the Relorian's control over the energy inside and their own magic falls, often causing their abilities to go wild. It is for this reason that the Ancient Relorians investigated AM fields, installing them in medical facilities and supplying emergency personnel with portable field generators.
A Relorian has complete control over the energy inside of his or her Weave, and can use it both for spells or for other various non-magic effects, the latter used most often by the Sierrensa.
