Second Challenge
« on: May 01, 2010, 12:58:07 AM »
http://buddystyle.deviantart.com/art/the-arena-115601191 The battle takes place there. There are no people and the entire arena is made out of a magical crystal that was filled with Zorcis.

Jake Ateris took out his sword and decided that he would fight whoever arrived. The blade glowed while in this arena. His powers would be amplified in here giving him a unique advantage. "Light of Mana, soothe these savage wounds! Energize!" He was filled with energy. "Now I am ready. "

((An arena, how original and interesting...))

The roar of a motorcycle engine echoes through the arena, gradually joined by twelve more over the next half a minute, the vague sound of jets soaring overhead adding to the somewhat confusing cacophony of technology. The air began to shimmer in several places all around Ateris, showing that some shapeless beings filled the stands around them.

"My my! What a horribly boring incantation! I've heard better from Starclanners!" A voice calls out from one opening, above the near-deafening roar of engines. "Honestly! You're in an arena, battles here are for the crowds, not victory! Make it interesting!"

Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. "A boring incantation?" asked Jake holding out his hand and his sword vanished to be replaced by the weapon known as the wind cutter scythe.  "Very well. I will beat you and teach you what you need to know. " Slashing 3 times with the scythe blades of air came at the intruder to slice him open.

One of the shimmering sections of air flares into brilliant color, rays of reds, blues and oranges shine about the arena as the air before the gate twists and distorts, deflecting the slashes to either side. "Teach me? I insult you for a boring incantation, and you claim to be able to teach me? It seems you've got the typical Starclanner arrogance too. How about I knock that overly-inflated ego of yours down a notch eh kid?!" He shouts, all but one of the engines cutting out as a man in form-fitting armor, riding a very strange-looking motorcycle variant shoots out from the gate, accelerating up to 50 mph before an 'arm' extends from the side of the bike, holding a very sharp blade aimed directly for Jake's midsection. At about the same time, two more of the shimmering shapes burst into color, even as the first fades.

Seeing that the person was going 50 miles per hour Jake dodged to one side utterly avoiding the blade and he took out the scythe. Yellow light began to form around the blade. "Fury Edge!" A circle appeared beneath Jake and lit with light as did the scythe. A light dragon made out of a shocking type of energy came at the target.

The winds grew heavier. If the person didn't stop the wind would crush his head.

As the motorcycle dodges to the side by, quite literally, jolting its hydraulic suspension to hop to the side of the dragon, a second motorcycle, covered with far fewer runes but wielding two of the blades, shoots out from another gate at nearly 60 miles per hour, with two more racing in from separate directions, forming a Y shape. "My my, going easy on me are you?" He shouts as one of the shining shimmers disappears, reappearing in the path of the dragon, which completely disappears into it, absorbed and immediately converted into a form Solae can use.

The motorcycles pissed Jake Atreis off and so he decided that one bad turn deserved another. Removing an item from his pocket a collapsible hammer he pushed on it and it changed into Mojinir, the hammer of Thor. "PULSE!" Lightning began to come from all directions to strike the rider. "My name is Jake."

((For future reference, Hawkeye, it is spelled Mjollnir.)

He laughs as he recognizes the hammer and the second shining shimmer grows brighter. Electricity, one of the more commonly manipulated energies amongst Psions. Jumping off of his bike, which rides around the edges of the arena without him, he spreads his arms wide, forcing the electricity to cloud around him, without actually touching him. The motorcycles three slash at him with efficiency, one aiming for the neck, one the chest, and one the waist.

Dodging the motorcycles coming at him Jake held out his hand and a battle axe replaced the hammer in his hands.  "Electricity can be manipulated by you easily. Therefore it is wise to do something other than electricity. " Slamming his battle axe into the ground 5 Golems rose out of the ground which took the stabbing of the motorcycles in his place when they came around for the second time.

"Now it is my turn. " The crystals all around the Arena lit up. "Bew!"

(1/5)

Blue lines of energy that were thin began to come out of the crystals towards Sorae hard and fast. These weren't ordinary but had a special property to them namely that they drained the magic from whoever they connected to.

((Please get his name right. There is no 'r' in his name.))

Solae smiles and shakes his head, standing still as the beams hit him, having absolutely no effect at all. "My my, you assume much, don't you?" He asks, the sounds of jet engines echoing through the arena as five missiles rain down upon the area, heading straight for the five golems as fully automatic railgun fire pounds at the crystals, chipping away at them as the remainder of the strange motorcycles show themselves, now totaling twelve as they drive in a circle around Ateris and Solae. "I wonder why your attack did nothing." He muses, before five of the shimmers burst into rays of color, the sky filling with storm clouds as the wind picks up.

"Well it is time I put a stop to you once and for all. "  He took out a cane and held it out. "First Gate of Fira, Unlock!" A gate appeared on one wall of the Arena and out of it came Hellish Flame at Solae.

Another gate opened on the other side of the Arena as Jake said "Gate 2 Agua open. " A blue gate opened and released hellish water.

A 3rd Gate opened releasing lightning.

((About damn time. Now you get to see a real incantation.))

He laughs as a huge host of the shimmers burst out into beautiful color, their light engulfing all three attacks. When the light clears enough for Jake to see, Solae stands before him surrounded by countless fireflies dancing about him. He stands tall and strong as he stares down his opponent, one hand slowly reaching up for the sun behind him, his eyes boring into Ateris' as the fireflies swarm in on him, releasing soft rays of color as they sink into his body. His armor electrifies, sending sparks all about him as he begins to glow with the power he'd absorbed. "Rays of the heavens, rain down upon us, your creations. Grant us the power of redemption, the strength to repel."

His other hand reaches down for the ground beneath their feet, which distorts under him. "Emanations of the Earth, flow into us, your children, friends and lovers. Grant us the power of damnation, the strength to conquer!" He shouts, the trigger-words recognized by the armor as it aids him in the performance of a pre-recorded macro of psionics, utilizing both solar and geothermal energy to recreate his spear.

"And so, the real battle begins."

"Light of the Divine, shine upon your disciple." said Jake Atreis holding up his crystal staff and it lit with a divine white light as did everything that possibly could in the arena. The effect would be blinding.  "Strike of the Coiled Viper. " Moments before the flash Jake closed his eyes and then seeing where Solae was by sensing his magical signature he learned of the spear. "Time to deal with this." The motorcycles became magically controlled by Jake and attacked Solae.

12 of the remaining shimmers in the stands disappeared, before appearing on top of each Razorback, shining their light as they forcefully inject themselves into the bikes, bringing direct control back to Solae as they swerve away from him. As the helmet's visor is his Tempora Psionics Amplification Glasses, they act as sunglasses just like the original version do, effectively protecting him from the otherwise annoying flash of light.

"Honestly, grow up boy." Solae calls out, extending a single hand towards Jake as the Razorbacks circle the arena once again. Each fingertip lets out a harmless, low-intensity laser pointing at five different spots on Jake's chest.

Reacting quickly he dodged the laser beams and decided that it was time for him to retaliate. The air around Solae became heavier and transmuted itself into water which then transmuted itself into fire. It was as if Solae was burning if he didn't get out of there. "Child he calls me.."

"Stupid he calls me." The fire grew even more intense so that it could not be absorbed into the armor.

The beams themselves only served to turn the oxygen they touched into a plasma with very low electric resistance, effectively blasting lightning bolts outwards from Solae's fingertips, a deafening crack resounding through as the air around the bolts was electrified, giving Solae even more to work with, while his constructs absorbed Jake's fire, albeit slower than they did the lightning. "Why yes, I did indeed call you a child, and stupid. Would you like to know why?" He asks, as he forcefully moves the heat from his own body to form a ball of shimmering, heated air before his hand. "It's because it is true. You fight and act like a child, making quite stupid and easily predictable moves." He adds, curving the lightning to follow Jake.

"Well then it is time I show you why I am very strong and not foolish or a  child. " At that he removed a stone tablet from one of his pockets and in an unfamiliar language began to say a chant. The 'shapes' in the air simply vanished as crystal constructs of Jake rose out of the ground with crystal swords in their hands and began  marching towards  Solae. "Egypt. " was the one word that  Jake said to Solae as the crystals marched absorbing the lightning and the ball of shimmering heated air. "Egypt!" More of the crystal Jakes came out of the ground and marched towards Solae all with crystalline swords in their hands as they marched.

"You know, this arena is perfect for our battle."

((So the shimmers, then. Alright. You need to specify exactly how many constructs there are.))

The shimmers, which were Solae's psionic constructs, promptly return to sight before him, bursting into light as they work. One raises spikes of stone from the floor underneath the crystal constructs, while another gathers energy from around itself and releases it as small balls of heat, bursting into flame when they hit the constructs. Another works with Solae's glasses to help him aim his ten fingers, a low-intensity laser shooting through the air to hit ten different constructs while twelve more shimmers embed themselves once again in the Razorbacks, which promptly fan out to strike at Ateris individually, coming from all directions and giving him very, very little time to react.

One last shimmer embeds itself in Solae's Eagle, which immediately locks on to Ateris and fires six Moa Intellimissiles, two by two. "You think so? Personally, arenas are rather bland for my liking."

Dodging the attacks by levitating himself into the air by flapping his arms he gathers energy around himself. "Time to put a stop to this. Meteor Crusher!" A very large and glowing dangerous meteor comes down not towards Solae but towards the motorcycles. The shockwave will likely hit Solae or so Jake hopes.

The Intellimissiles, true to their design, follow Jake as he dodges, while ten lightning bolts burst through the air, barrelling into the crystalline constructs, quite quickly destroying them. Looking upwards, Solae promptly begins commanding his shielding constructs, who are the only ones left in the stands. Crouching down, the constructs surround him, colorful light blaring about the arena, obstructing Ateris' view as Solae erects numerous shields, from barriers protecting him from the actual impact, to heat-dissipation constructs and carbon dioxide-oxygen conversion constructs. Effectively, they together create a powerful shielding array that would protect him even against the meteor. Unfortunately for Jake, an attack like that would most assuredly get himself caught in the crossfire.

However in order to defend himself from the intermissiles he raised his hand causing 5 missile shaped crystal constructs to go flying at the missiles hopefully blowing them up. Next he channeled the explosion at the shield along with dodging the meteor and the shrapnel caused by the destruction of the motorcycles.

He unleashed 5 violet spheres which turned into stone warriors which attacked. All had protective glyphs.

Thanks to the Intellimissiles' design, the optics sensors in the nosecone see the crystals, enabling the missiles to dodge them and continue their original flight path. They may have been slowed, but they weren't stopped. Meanwhile, Solae stands, holding his arms out wide as the arena lies in flames. "Such desperate tactics already I see!" He yells over the fire's roar, smiling even as he moves his arms inwards, as if slow-motion hugging someone. Flames follow his arms, shifting and floating from the ground to combine before him in a shapeless mass of superheated air. "Now you've really done it. I happened to like the shows this arena had!" He adds, laughing as he touches the tip of his heavily augmented Curicite spear to the mass, which promptly sucked it all right into the spear. Hovering it before him, he aims the LIPC weapons of one hand at the spear, firing at it and charging it with electrical energy as well as thermal. His other hand once more fires at Ateris, five lightning bolts arcing across the air, following the dead-straight aim of the lasers.

Dodging the lightning once again along with the other attacks by doing a series of flips in the air Jake decides to pull out all the stops and so he removes a card from his hand.  "I hated to use this."  He threw it into the ground and a monster made out of fire in the form of a fireball flew at Solae as he took out 2 more and threw them down.  A golem made out of earth pounded it's fists causing an earthquake and one made out of water formed behind Solae.
