Advanced Drone Systems
« on: May 15, 2010, 03:41:14 PM »
Stella Sicario
Microdrone Bay and Control Module: Fitted to wing and squadron leader Sicarios, this new modular attachment replaces the missile/Gauss cannon fittings. It can hold up to five Microdrones or Gorrens carrier drop capsules. This module is lighter than the missile and cannon modules when the drones are deployed, and thus the leader Sicarios are a bit more maneuverable while this module is in use.

Directari
Microdrone Modulation Bay and Advanced Control Module: Fitted to all current and future Directari-type capital ships, the Microdrone Modulation bay can hold seven thousand microdrones in specially designed bays capable of swapping out modular components. Mainly used to fit microdrones with small variants of the Directari's EWAR modules capable of functioning on craft up to Corvette size, they are also capable of refitting microdrones with cloak field emitters for use in conjunction with the Pyroboli Distributed Stealth Field system.

The Advanced Control Module installed into Directari ships gives the microdrones the computing power needed for the use of the PDSF systems, as well as creating a Corsair-like hive mind between microdrones of differing types, allowing task forces to be set up quite efficiently, and without extra programming.

Pharaoh and Orion:
Drone Modulation Bay: The Pharaoh and Orion types have been modified to include a new drone bay (2000 Corsairs or 4000 microdrones for Pharaoh, 20,000 Corsairs or 40,000 microdrones for Orion) as well as equipment to swap out modular weapons systems. Able to swap one or both laser cannons on the Corsairs to projectile-based autocannons or to hybrid-based particle blasters (explained below,) they can also change microdrone weaponry from the laser weapon to a hybrid-based rail-gun.

Space-based Carriers:
Microdrone Modulation and Repair Bay: The interior of Relorian carriers have been reorganized and the entirety of the ships lengthened to accomodate the addition of a new Microdrone bay capable of making any change to modular drone systems. The sheer size of these bays poses a large problem to enemy fleets. Torrae carriers' microdrone bays are capable of fitting several million microdrones in addition to the current docking bays, while Solsan-type super capital ships are capable of fielding nearly fifty million microdrones.

Nevan-type Titan:
Apoc-type Microdrone Bay: An absolutely colossal docking, modulation and repair bay for microdrones has been fitted to the Nevan, granting it fleet-class fighter support through the use of almost one billion microdrones. Equipped with several of the Directari's advanced control cores, the microdrone army is exceedingly intelligent, able to utilize high-level strategies and tactics without explicit command.

Corsair Weapon Systems:
Projectile Autocannons: Using an advanced ammunitions design codenamed Syarbore, these six-barreled autocannons are capable of six-round burst fire, pumping out 360 rounds per minute.

Hybrid-based Blasters: Loaded with shells filled with thorium in a plasma state. The shell is emptied into the weapon, which processes the thorium into a bolt contained with a magnetic containment field. The bolt is then fired from the weapon, providing relatively large amounts of both concussive force and melting heat.

Microdrones

All microdrones are roughly the size of a medium-breed dog, such as a retriever. They have limited power-generation capabilities, and thus must return to a docking bay to refuel every so often. Hive-connected microdrones will stagger these trips to prevent an opening in defense. All of their programming is stored on temporary memory. The moment power is cut off from the memory storage devices, all data is cleared.

Corien: The standard fighter-type microdrone. By default equipped with a single pulse-based laser, the Corien microdrones are among the fastest of their kind. They are, at the center, fitted with a small antimatter charge that's heavily contained. If they suffer too much damage, they will fly into their attackers and release the antimatter containment fields, exploding surprisingly violently. Modular structure allows for weapon changes and PDSF emitters.

Norsero: Considered the 'Fleet Leaders' of the microdrones, Norseroes direct the other microdrones in their fleet hierarchy and serve as the center point for Pyroboli Distributed Stealth systems. They're deployed sparingly, usually one for every 300-400 microdrones in its fleet. They are equipped with limited variants of the Directari control core, and can control fleets if separated from their home bays. Equipped with one hybrid-based blaster.

Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

If the drones run out of fuel, would they power down, or do they become immobile, drifting in space?

How much antimatter is stored in a Corien drone?

Enough antimatter for the Corien's explosion to take out a fully shielded Archive fighter, I think. Maybe Aralang, but I don't know much 'bout the SP Aralangs.

And as for the fuel, what's the difference? They do have a power consumption mode, in which communications and weaponry are shut down to conserve fuel, if that's what you mean.

I would let it be enough to destroy any fighter-class ship currently in SP. Approved.

So, the basic systems would still be working, but everything else, including the propulsion, would be unusable. Approved.
