Ten Year Old Guests
« on: May 19, 2010, 02:59:31 PM »
With the Tempora moored a safe distance outside the planet's atmosphere, a small ball-like flare ignited in a clearing a short ways off from the settlement, the flare opening up into a portal a few minutes later. Through the portal, the two children Rev and Gen stand with Alex in front of them. "Duppin is a very strange planet, try not to step off of the walkways for too long." He says, smiling at them as he walks through to the arrival point.
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

The two children followed Alex out, not ready for what they saw next. Staring strangely at the pudding-made planet, the two stopped abruptly and just stared speechless, for what felt like hours, but really, only a few minutes.  Finally, they broke the silence.

"I haven't seen anything like that before," Gen said.
"Yeah, what is it?" Rev asked.
The two then knelt down and poked the pudding. Quickly drawing their hands away from the strange substance, they knelt over farther to get an even better look, and ended up falling in and sinking under the surface.

An aura enveloped them and pulled them to the surface as Ace Thunders appeared on Duppin. In his hands was a katana made of Ur-steel formed from a meteor. Ace was clad in black robes with golden symbols on them.

The 'pudding' underneath their feet solidifies and rises, pushing them out of the pudding and back onto the platform, which Ace completely neglected to do. "Watch step. Slippy sometime." A gruff, almost feral voice calls out from the other side of the walkway. "You no swim in Duppin pudding, little ones. You try, you drown." He adds, walking over to the two. He pulls the pudding off of them, holding it in two separate, magically-floating orbs.

Since by falling in, they would obviously have gotten a taste of the pudding, the two sat on the walkway, wide-eyed and grinning. Monitoring the pudding being pulled off of them, they reached out to take some, playing with it in their hands, pulling it a part, and finally letting it drop. When they had gotten enough of the chocolate brown substance, they  looked at who had arrived.

"Let's do that again!" Gen exclaimed.
"But what was it?" Rev asked.
"It left a weird sensation in the mouth," Gen added.

"That taste. This be Duppin Pudding. Food. You not have pudding before?" Iroku asks, handing them the remainders of the blobs.

Well now that everything was fine Ace Thunders approached Irrelai and whispered to her in Relorian "May I speak with you privately away from these two?" He didn't wish to offend Rev and Gen with what he was about to say. He knew that they disliked Maxima as he had read Maxima's mind and they had broken their deal with Aria for some odd reason even though Maxima had at that time possessed Aria's soul, and now it was a necklace that Ace Thunders wore.

"Pudding? Food? Taste? What's that?" The questions came from both Rev, and Gen at once, and could be seen as pure ecstatic curiosity. As incarnations, they had never experienced eating or taste, and it was a new sensation for the both of them. However, by the expressions, the two now held, it could easily be seen, they enjoyed the taste of pudding.

The man's eyes widen, and he shakes his head. "I call Irrelai, she better at this." He says, tapping his toe against the ground. "Pudding food, eat. Need eat to live. Pudding good food, if not eat too much. Eat too much, get fat. Fat bad, fat slow and weaker than muscle." He adds, glancing over to Ace. "Who you? Why here?"

Ace Thunders pondered the question that Iroku was asking him and then decided how best to answer. Well now it was time for him to answer the question of Iroku and so he said to Iroku "My name is Ace Thunders.  My friends would like to live here on Duppin if that is okay with you. "

The kids looked at Iroku, completely ignorant of Ace, and occupied to the point, where their reason for being there was long forgotten.
"What do you mean eat?" Rev asked.
"And why would you need it to live?" Gen followed.

A large bunch of vines snakes out from the pudding, coalescing atop the walkway and forming the shape of Irrelai, quickly reforming into her actual body. "That pudding that went into your mouths was swallowed, brought into your body so your body can take it apart and turn it into energy to use in maintaining itself. Sages don't have to eat very often, due to their magic, but we Relorians are different. We must eat more often than humans do, though we can use our magic to sustain us for a while." She answers, smiling at the children as Iroku walks over to Ace, staring him straight in the eyes as an ethereal head rises from his own, the face that of an elderly tribal chieftain.

"No ask me. Ask Duppin." He says, looking the man over as if sizing him up. "If you no can ask, you no live here."

Putting his hand on the planet's surface he asked the planet "Do you mind if I bring the Warrior Humans and Tideans here?" He was asking through his magic so that Rev and Gen could not discern at the moment what he was up to.

Sadly the planet didn't respond, well not in the all flashy way some might expect it would. Instead the burst of magic that Ace had used woke up something, woke up something big.. A pudding wyrm. It's hibernation interrupted by Ace's magic it was angry, bursting from the ground it just began to eat, eat, and oh did I mention eat?
The world is a mess..and I just need to..rule it.

Quickly utilizing a combination of hardening and illusion spells, Iroku, Irrelai and the other Shamai in the settlement erected thick, dense walls the wyrm couldn't chew through around their village, Koraiten pulling the two kids into the dome before closing it shut, leaving Ace outside to deal with the problem he'd created.  Once inside, the mages immediately set about further hardening the dome walls, compressing them into a sort of pudding-made metal reinforced with various shamanic wards to physically push against incoming threats, such as the wyrm. While not strong enough to outright repel it like a magnet, the wards' combined effects are potent enough to decrease the amount of momentum, and thus impact force, the wyrm can bring to bear on it.

Ace held out his hand and a portal opened in front of the Pudding Wyrm putting an obstacle in front of it that would take it into the Dimensional Sea. Having no time for this insanity Ace was dealing with it as best he could.

Both Rev and Gen hadn't even given a glance at Ace, for as long as they'd been there. And whatever he was doing now, didn't interest them enough to even question it. For all they cared, he may as well have not even been there. Before they could respond to Irrelai, however, they had felt a rumbling. Then, next thing they knew, they had been pulled into a dome made of what the man had described as food. It was all very frightening, but were they scared? Not in the least.

Utilizing their magic, and gift of truth. The children, each placed a hand on the wall of the dome, and looked through it, to see what was happening outside. With the view of the Wyrm, now in their sights, the two gasped. But not a gasp of fear, a gasp of hardly contained excitement.
"Is this part of 'eating?' Rev asked.
"Yes, does your 'food,' always fight back?" Gen commented after. The two of them, looking back at Irrelai and Iroku.

As the portal appeared the Wyrm quickly retracted back into the ground, but the rumbling didn't cease, coming back up right under Ace with it's massive maw all the way open.

"Sometimes. We don't just eat pudding after all. There's different plants and animals that we can eat. And as you can see out there, there are things that can eat us as well. It is the cycle of nature. The dead feed the smallest of beings, who provide nutrients for plants to grow. Plants are then eaten by animals, who are then eaten by other animals. It's one big web that sustains itself." Irrelai explains, smiling at her new 'students.'

"Irrelai, they not fawn. They no need teacher now." Iroku replies, smiling almost longingly at her before turning his attention back to the Wyrm.

Reacting to the giant creature raising it's maw up under him Ace promptly teleported out of the way and loosed a barrage of fireballs conjured by Essence directly for the head of the creature namely aiming for his eyes. If this creature could fight blind then Ace would be in big trouble. He also made 5 jagged crystal spears go flying at the creature to impale it.

In response to the words of Iroku, the two incarnations glanced over. "If we defeat that thing, you'll teach us more. Right?" Not waiting to receive an answer, the two lifted their hands from the wall of the dome. Raising their hands out, both Rev, and Gen held them out to each other, standing at attention, just a few inches apart from one another. Then in unison, they both pointed to the ground. Amber energy glowing around Rev, and cyan, around Gen.

As the two energies met, they began to wrap around one another, forming a two-fold cord of both cyan and amber. The cord then began to shape itself and grown in size, taking up most of the dome, but not affecting the Relorians, in fact, it seemed to just go through everything. When it had finally finished growing, its form could be clearly seen. There in front of everything, was a Wyrm, like the one from outside. Only it was made completely out of Genesis and Revelation magic, and glowed with the colored combination of amber and cyan.

This new Wyrm, then went right through the dome. Once it was out of it, it became solid, and burrowed underneath the ground, in attack of the other Wyrm, but not before taking the liberty of smacking the floating Ace with its tail. The tail made of Genesis and Revelation magic. Poor Ace.

Ace however managed to evade the tail of the pudding wyrm made out of Revelation and Genesis Magic and landed on the solid part of the pudding forming a dome of his own made out of crystal.

The two shamans place a hand on the childrens' shoulders, smiling warmly at them as they shake their heads. "Don't kill it. Everything needs to eat. Predators eat their prey, unless the prey can outfight, outrun, or outsmart the hunter." Irrelai says, gently pulling Rev away from the wall as Iroku pulls Gen.

"That life of hunter, of hunted. That nature. Not anyone place to change but in emergency only, like me save Irrelai, or Irrelai save me. Like family we be." Iroku adds, crouching down to Gen's eye level.

(3 day rule, goodbye Wyrm.)

By the time Ace had dodged, the other Wyrm was Magic Wyrm chow, in a manner of speaking. The Wyrm of Revelation and Genesis magic, wrapped its self upon the pudding Wyrm, and began to swallow it whole, almost like a boa constrictor. However, by the time the other Wyrm was gone, Rev and Gen, were being lectured on the lessons of life...

"You mean we shouldn't kill it?" Gen spoke up, as she looked at Rev, and Rev did the same. They could tell by the connection to their magic, that it was almost too late for the Wyrm. But these people seemed to not want it dead. Of everything they had so far learned, this was something new to them.  Should they stop it, or let it die? Didn't most people, kill dangerous things?
"But the information from that Archive place, showed things like that as dangerous." Rev said.
"And that they should be stopped." Added Gen.

Looking at the beast Ace thought it was dead. Reaching out to the land once more he asked for permission for the Warrior Humans and Tideans that still existed to live on this world if they so desired.

"Do the warrior humans have your permission to live here?" he asked the land.
