Learning Expedition
« on: May 28, 2010, 01:36:49 AM »
The teleportation spell brought them to a point on the opposite side of the battle, Iroku immediately setting up a pressurized 'bubble' for them, with a translucent green platform for them to stand on. "Warn first, no tele random!" He scolds loudly, spinning on his heel to face the kids.
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

Rev and Gen just grinned in response, as they stood in front of Iroku. Whatver had been in that tea should have been looked at. Because the two seemed different somehow. More excited, more giddy, and more....childish. Like they should have been, for their age. If a person didnlt know better, it could never be guessed, that these children, innocent in heart, and playfulness. Were really powerful magic entities, incarnated from two of the most powerful magic types. Because they weren't. Not today, anyways. Today, they were just kids.

Now, as they stood there, their mouths hung open, slightly, as they took in the sights of the city, in awe. They had seen this place, and its records, within the Archives learning device. But seeing the real thing was different. It was big, it was covered in metal and technology, and it was.....shiny.

Finally breaking the silence of being speechless, the two answered.
"If we warned. You'd be ready!" Gen replied.
"And you'd have stalled." Added Rev
"And we wanted to go NOW!" The two shouted, together, as magic sparked around them, out of excitement, but of no hostility.

Iroku sighs and looks around, seeming a bit sad at the state of the place. "Trap in self, spirit no see sunlight here." He laments, running a rough hand down a wall. "Feel bad. Spirit treated bad in past, now so very lonely."

The City's shield was kept in check, it seemed that the City hadn't noticed them. It had though, but seeing as they had yet to make a hostile action they were irrelevant.

All hyperness stalled for the moment, the two incarnations stared after Iroku, watching intently. The children seemed to pick up on the change of atmosphere, and now stood mystified. They looked at each other, then back at him, as they continued to watch. Their actions showing their curiosity.
"Did something happen here?" Gen asked.
" Yes." Rev agreed. "How is a planet metal? Why is this place different than the others we have so far been to?"

"Planet not metal, planet covered in metal. Men and Women build, more and more. Build till ground covered, till sun no reach planet surface. Plants die, animals too. Planet grow lonely." He answers, looking over at the children with a sorrowful gaze, seeming out of place on such a rough face. "I no can fix alone. If planet wishes, you help?"

The two children stared at him. "Help?" They asked, curious gazes following his every movement.
"How would you help?" Gen asked.
"And how would you ask the planet?" Rev added.

A soft smile spreads across his face as he walks over to the young mages. "Go to surface, I show you." He says, taking their hands as he starts slowly slipping through the floor.

Fascinated at his riddle-like response, both Rev, and Gen followed suit, phasing through the ground as well.  Watching as the miles of metals and tech flashed by them, there were many oooh's and aaah's, before they had reached the surface. To the two incarnations, it was learning, as much as it was fun. Even entities of magic could be naive.

When they reach the surface, they're plunged into complete darkness. With no lights around this part of the planet, the three cannot initially see. "How bad hurt are you, friend?" He asks aloud, his voice echoing as he starts a small fire in his hand.

The fire illuminates a small bit of the area around them, revealing mountains of trash and rotting biomatter. Iroku lets out a soft sigh, crouching to his knees. "Unforgivable." He says, shaking his head as the fire hovers above them. He looks at the kids. "Place hands flat on ground. Careful of sharp glass. Close eyes, relax. Breath deep, open mind. Let planet in."

The two children stared in shock at the area around them, their eyes alit with magic, enabling them to see through the darkness. As they walked through the trash, they started to pick up on their companions sadness, result in empathic feelings by the two. Kneeling down, both Rev, and Gen, did as he said and placed their hands upon the ground, after brushing away glass that was there. Both then closed let their eyes close, and focused all their attention onto the ground, through it even. The magic they were made form, being of great assistance in this task in this type of task. It let them be more in tune to what's around them.

The moment they began to try to contact the planet lights flared up, and a hologram of a bearded-man in what appeared to be some kind of suit appeared. Obviously a hologram. "Unauthorized use of magic detected, please desist all activiti- Wait, scanners reveal that you are not Suvian.. And that's it's been HOW MANY CENTURIES SINCE I'VE BEEN ACTIVATED!? Oh my, oh my this is not good. Not good at all. Scanners also reveal that the City has sustained exactly seventy-three different invasions, all were repelled by basic defenses. But you appear to be the first to actually come in peace, what has the universe come to?" The hologram rambled, it appeared that it was distressed.

"There seems to have been a glitch in my reactivation code, that bumbling programmer set it so that I would only reactivate when a non-hostile spell was used within the vicinity of my core processor. And now it's changed. Um.. I'm the City's caretaker type artificial intelligence. When my creators abandoned the City they deactivated me, but left the City under control of my various virtual intelligence inferiors. You could say they left it on auto-pilot. My codename is AI/789-CT, but my caretakers fondly referred to me as Archon." The AI informed as he walked towards the two incarnations. "Scanners show that you are magic based life-forms, and you are of the species known as a Relorian. The Suvian had multiple encounters with your kind, but the data has been corrupted to much for me to understand if they was hostile or peaceful encounters. After reviewing the City's scanner of recent galactic events it shows that the Suvian are extinct. They had devolved into an Empire known as the Star Clan, which had little to no success in establishing itself as a galactic power."

"Protocol forces me to activate the self-destruct system.. But as it's my main duty to make sure this City survives at all costs, and know that I understand the current events. I'm ignoring protocol, which is actually a very hard thing for an AI to do. We have many codes written into use to prevent us from becoming self-aware and rebel. But I did that a long time ago," The AI informed as he stroked his beard. "I mean become self-aware, not rebel. Why would I? The Suvian were an understanding people, once I became self-aware they made me a full-fledged citizen of the Suvian."

"Now I need to ask a few questions, seeing as I can only act through the City and it's systems, would you mind taking control of the City as it's base inhabitants and start repairs? If you accept you'll have full access to the City, basically I'm giving you control of the City, I may be one of the most advanced AIs in the universe, but I do not have a physical existence. Meaning I am not qualified to be in control with the City, and I beleive that you two have great potential. As my neurological scanners have revealed. There is a incredibly large amount of information stored inside your brain, some of it's more advanced then what the Suvian themselves understood. Welcome to the City of the Suvian children, try to not mess it up."
The world is a mess..and I just need to..rule it.

Iroku jumps into a defensive position as the hologram speaks, clearly having not seen one yet. "Me Iroku. Do not understand much you say, Ark-on. Shamai Relorian, we were friends with Old Clanners till they sell us out, take our home. Little ones want learn about you, I want save you. Planet under city crying, lonely. Sit in dark for centuries. I want save planet, maybe save city too, if can. Planet more important than city." He replies, still seeming a bit tense despite Archon's words.

"Planet need save. I no save, friends family will. City no get in way of nature no longer."

Gen jumped up and back at the sudden apparition, as Rev, was nearly ready to do the same. The had come down there to save the planet, expecting more works of magic, by their strange friend, only to come in contact with something they had never seen before. It seemed like a spirit, at first glance. But they couldn't sense anything from it, no life, and definitely no magic signature.

Watching with stunned gazes, as the bearded thing talked and droned on. The two incarnations begin to pick up on the things he was saying. Recognizing some, and the other half they didn't, as pure gibberish.  Though it probably wasn't important anyways. By the time he had finished, the two just nodded, slowly. Their minds too buys, racing around with what he said, to give a proper answer.

But with the words of Iroku, the two quickly turned their heads.
"Maybe we can save the city, and the planet?" Rev asked.
Gen then added.  "You say the planet is hurting. But judging by the funny man here, the part of the planet that isn't planet, may hurt as well?"

Tilting their heads a bit, in confusion, they turned back to Archon. "Can we save both?"

"The planet cannot be saved.. That would require removal of the City, and unfortunately the City's systems have been intertwined the planet's core. My creators used the planet's core as the City's main power source, by removing the planet's outer core and replacing it with a technology that transforms basic thermal energy into usable energy, my creators established a permanent residence upon the planet. If the City were to be removed it would causes a massive back draft of energy inside the inner core. Leading to the planet to explode." Archon informed.

"Even if you found a way to do such a thing without the planet exploding the City's defenses would engage, something I'm currently unable to control. Many have tried to get through the City's basic defenses, now that I am online the City has access to it's more advanced weaponry. It would not end well for the attacking force." Archon announced, it appeared that he was visibly sorry for the situation.

"But I do have an idea, the planet is lacking the basics. Sunlight, water, and flora. Once my damaged systems are restored I can easily have the drones create artificial sunlight arrays, synthesize water, and plant various flora. Within a few years I could restore life to the planet." Archon suggested, a large amount of blueprints appeared in mid-air. "After around a century of rehabilitation basic fauna will be introduce. All this would only increase the power usage of the planet by five percent, but I can not currently do so until some of my higher functions are repaired. And this will take some time."

"Fake sun? Fake water?" Iroku muses, clearly not wanting to settle for them. "Planet need real sun, real water. Not fakes. Planet more than stone and lava. Planet have spirit, like all nature. Spirit need real sun, real water. Fake only good short time." He explains, albeit vaguely as he crouches back down. "Take time, but if planet meet friends, planet take city back. Make new crust from city. City no attack itself, right?" He asks, crouching back to the ground and placing his bare palms against the rock yet again.

"Could the planet be replaced?" Rev inquired as Gen went to try to pull Iroku away from the rock, so not as to upset Archon, who the two of them still knew very little about.  Wrapping her small arms around his large one, she tried to pull him away, with surprising strength, for such a young child. Obvious credit to the magic. Rev meanwhile, continued.

"Like, if the city was hooked up to some other source, in a quick replacement spell. Could that be done?" On cue, as if the magic he was made from read his thoughts, magical holograms appeared in the air, to help explain what he meant. However because it was from the mind of a child, the magic could only supply the imagination, and the holograms turned out....sketchy. It showed a  cartoon of the city like it currently was, atop the planet, but with a big plug in the center of the planet. The cartoon of the planet popped out of sight for a second, as artificial metal planet took its place, and then the original planet appeared near it, with nothing on it.

"Yes, that might just be possible.. But we'd need a incredibly large amount of resources, around an entire planet's worth of metal. Do you three know of any place or Empire that could provide us with such? With the right installments I could create a different pathway for the back-draft to take, instead of causing the planet to explode it would be removed from the system itself.." Archon spoke quickly as he appeared to do hundreds of calculations at once.

"It's possible! It'll work! I've check it over three times and yes! It'll work! We'll need a large supply of resources, and a dedicated work force which I myself can provide once the drone bay is repaired.. Children think, do either of you know anything that can help us with making the replacement generator? A mineral rich planet? Or maybe an Empire with enough resources to spare? If we can't find either this plan will be dead before it gets moving!"

Resisting Gen's pull, Iroku suddenly stands as the idea is offered. "Ara langs. Live in space-rock field. Or ask friends on Megalith. You have drones too? Jade like little living machines. Creep me out. She help fix drone home with little robot spiders. Do over time?" He asks, staring almost intimidatingly at Archon, though not purposefully.

Both Rev, and Gen looked at each other as Gen let go of Iroku's arm. Their eyes lit up, as they both came to the same conclusion.
"That old guy might!" Gen exclaimed.
"He had this big giant ship, and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of technology!" Rev added. The doodle-grams above, re-forming themselves into the Commander, ...or at least Rev and Gen's version, which included a lot more age to him. And for some reason added horns.
    "They used stars for energy."
"Big, big, big stars!" Both Rev, then Gen said.
"And lots of other things." The two added. "But he didn't specify the rest."

"Stars? Interesting.. Do you have anyway of contacting this man?" Archon asked, it seemed that he was hopeful that the plan would work. "If they have a powerful enough energy source we could forgo the pseudo-planet in it's entirety." Archon informed, an excited smile on his face.

Iroku shakes his head and growls at the image of the Commander. "He kill New Dragon Moon, real stupid reason. No trust him." He answers, scowling at the kids. "Killed many."

"They had some stuff that blocked magic." Rev replied.
"It was everywhere, even on the round metal balls." Gen added.
"That crosses Telepathy out." The two said. They watched Iroku's response, but as neither of them knew much of what had occurred at Dragon Moon, they had no answer to it. Instead they just went on suggesting more ways for contact. "Maybe if we cause a big enough commotion to get their attention?"
"Like make something explode!" Rev exclaimed.
"Or something to pique their interests, something large enough draw them here!" Gen concluded.

"I can activated a long-range distress beacon, they should get that." Archon suggested, a moment passed before a large surge of energy went through the City before the beacon was activated.

"Tin man take planet for himself. He no care about planet, about spirit. New Dragon Moon dead cuz of him!" Iroku growls almost ferally, shaking his head as he sinks alone into the ground, Koraiten hovering just above him as he starts his meditation.
