Novierian Ships, Technology, and various doodads needed
« on: January 05, 2010, 02:29:24 AM »

Novierian technology goooo!!

Technology

Concentrator- an 'earpiece' that latches onto the side of a Novierian's head (When it's painfully obvious they don't have ears.) in which the main purpose of it is to serve as a secondary calculator for the Novierian's mind.
Teleporting: Any Novierian can tell you that they teleport stuff everyday. However, what they don't tell you is that they can't teleport organic things for their life (literally. It would end up being a huge heaping pile of flesh.). What the concentrator does for a Novierian in this department is allow them to teleport organic things in the organized fashion that is required when transferring them. A lot of Novierians still feel fear when teleporting themselves with this device, so they don't use it as often as they should.
Fighting and ESP: The concentrator isn't just for teleporting, it also allows a Novierian to use their ESP powers efficiently and are able to calculate even the most biggest numbers and comprehend them. If you see a Novierian with a concentrator, you could ask them where to aim your gun and they'll give you an exact angle, coordinates, the wind resistance against your shot and the distance that the shot will veer off course due to wind... It's really nifty to be honest.

Firearm- a 'gun' of sorts that only Novierians can operate: The gun itself cannot be reloaded normally, fired normally, or actually carried normally, but rather it's levitated by a Novierian. Many Novierians found it to be rather difficult to concentrate levitating a firearm (or multiple firearms for that matter.). That's where the concentrator comes in: It utilizes the Novierian's levitation ability and carries the firearm by itself and uses the user's thought process of when to fire, where, and the target. Because of this, the firearm doesn't even look like a gun, but rather a steel cylinder with a gun barrel at the end and a manufacturer's branding at the side.
How is it reloaded? Where does the ammo come from? Migaitt of course! All Novierians are connected to the black dwarf and can teleport pieces of metal from it anywhere. With this logic, the concentrator can literally utilize this and teleport in a piece of metal and shape it like a bullet to fire. Since the firearm is levitating, it can turn anywhere (even in a Novierian's blind spot.) and fire.
Finally, before you get too bored of this piece of technology, the final thing to mention is that a Novierian can levitate 5 firearms at a time.

Knuckler- Another special weapon that Novierians can use (others can use this as a regular knuckle, but they won't get the added effect.). The design for this is a bit odd considering that a Novierian only has two wide fingers, so humanoid wearers will find this to be a bit odd. What makes this so special is that the knuckler will add flames, ice, or lightning depending on what the knuckler is made from onto a Novierian's arm when worn. The knuckler takes advantage of the nerve endings that is on a Novierian's hands and takes ESP powers and forces them out, making the punch much more deadly.
A direct hit to other Novierians will prove to be just a hit with fire or lightning or something. However, if the fire/ice/lightning were to hit or to even graze a non-Novierian, they'll find out that they'll have some adverse effects about them, like their muscles getting weak or sometimes even paralysis.
(Seriously, saying that you don't feel the adverse effects in battle is just like saying that your character doesn't feel anything.)

Delta Shield- Talk to any Novierian about magic and they'll tell you about how unscientific or unreal it is. Nevertheless though, they can't deny the existence of it and, more importantly, their fear of it. Delta Shield is three pieces of technology that requires  a Novierian to use. One must simply levitate them in a triangular shape and then the shield will activate. To be blunt, it protects against anything that has anything to do with magic... and living things. Even though Novierians have no idea what the hell magic comes from or how it's made, they simply assumed that magic had something to do with the user's soul or their influence with the planet's energy, or maybe they just command a magic energy inside them. Whatever it is, the delta shield negates these things by basically making an endless vacuum for anything that touches it into an alternate pocket dimension made possible by a Novierian's teleportation ability. Turns out the problem to one thing can be a solution to everything else.

Rune Walker- Okay, so whatever the hell natural selection went through to give Novierians 'peg leg' feet must have been quite confusing. You'll never see a Novierian complain about it, but they'll wish that they could run faster without stabbing the ground accidentally, causing them to trip (you'll be amazed at how many running competitions are failed on rainy days.). One frustrated Novierian scientist fed up with all the accidents decided to make 'flying boots' that could fit on a Novierian. Needless to say, he succeeded. Not only did it allow Novierians to fly all over the place without their levitation (Any Novierian will tell you how hard it is to levitate themselves. Seriously.) but it also allowed them to reach speeds unimaginable to their kind. Eventually rune walkers became the 'cars' for Novierians as well as their usual method of movement in battle.

Lambda Shield
A much bigger form of the Delta Shield, used usually for ship warfare to protect against oncoming attacks. However, unlike the Delta shield, it cannot be powered by a Novierian's ESP like so many others of their technology, so if a small ship were to use this, they'd need to use this sparingly, or they'd need to be near a Alpha ship.

ESP Cannons
More or less for ships as well: These cannons take advantage of a Novierian's ESP and allows energy shots that can pierce quite a lot of metals, causing a discharge of energy (explosion) once the shot has hit something it can't pierce through. The energy required for this is more than what a Novierian can provide on his own, so the ship's power is needed.

----

-Ships-

Makken Tevios
The mother of all Novierian ships, the Makken Tevios. To be blunt, the size of this ship is just huge. About the size of Earth's moon. This thing boasts firepower all around it and rarely has any weak points on it. If that doesn't make matters worse for their enemies, the thing can also launch Lambda shields on all sides in quick succession (Of course, without a alpha ship nearby they will quickly drain the ship of it's power.)

Alpha ship
All of the ships in the Novierian fleet can power themselves easily and can outlast a fight spanning for several months in human time. However, once the enemy brings in their best, the Novierians can't help but not run away. An external power source however is needed to provide more energy to surrounding ships for all of their technologies. An Alpha Ship is basically what I just mentioned: an external power source that provides energy to surrounding ships via ESP. How this is done is that the ship requires three Novierians to pilot it at the same time, as the ship makes use of their minds capable of ESP and amplifies that ability to transfer power to other ships. The power an Alpha ship gives to surrounding ships allows other ships to pull off lambda shield after lambda shield, never having to worry about enemy attacks.
The Alpha Ship can supply power to approximately 10 ships around it, unless said differently.

Stigmane
The average fighter of the Novierian fleet, it's true focus is raw firepower rather than outlasting the enemy. Missiles, weapons, energy attacks, even ESP cannons are all around this thing (and even explosives for suicide bombings). These can be made in quick succession and is recommended for battles that can't be fought through attrition.

Palitane
The ultimate defender of the Novierian fleet (That is, until they make something better than Lambda shields...) , the whole purpose of a Palitane is to defend, defend, defend, and defend some more. It may be small, but it can literally make a wall of lambda shields that's basically as large as a planet (Saturn sized anyone? Neptune?) allowing for the Novierian fleet to basically hide behind it. However, shields are known to break down through overpowering force, so if the size of shields is not needed, the Palitane can instead layer the shields for stronger hits against them. Having more than 1 Palitane in a fight is considered more than enough for a battle.

Snimane
For long distance battles, the snimane greatly excels at due to it's ability to basically teleport shots fired from nearby ships and it's own to opposing forces. It's enemies are recommended to have their shields on at all times, because their ability to detect goes far and wide.

For the Delta/Lambda shields, would the mage be able to arc his/her spell around the shield?
Seeing the world through a child's eyes is truly a unique experience. It helps you to retrieve that sense of awe, magic and wonder that you lost as you lost your innocence. Tell me, when was the last time that you thought of those childhood dreams? You know, the ones that you used to spend all your time wondering and fantasizing about? Have you forgotten them so easily? Have you forgotten what it felt like to see something for the first time, to see the magic in the mundane? Everyone says you should take the time to 'Stop and smell the roses'. But you should also take the time to look for the fairies, embrace the wind and enjoy the rain. Just once today, stop for a moment and look into that little piece of nature you pass everyday. Perhaps you may see something you did not notice before.

The race has the ability to levitate opbjects. if the mage were to arc their spell around it, the user could simply just move their shield. This is the case for the delta shield (unless of course a Novierian decides to bring enough Delta shields to actually fully cover him.)
It's quite different for a lambda shield, since a lot of the fleet carries more than one: They could easily just make the shield surround their ships.

For the teleporter, if it can't teleport organic matter, then how do they teleport and survive? I didn't understand that part.

You didn't read all of what the concentrator did. ... Are you guys actually reading these or just skimming through them?

I see nothing wrong with it. It's not overpowered, or ripped/copied like the crap Hawkeye requests.

It was that part that I didn't understand. What is the organized fashion that makes the teleportation non-lethal to organic matter?

Alright. As far as anyone knows (assuming they've read into the race/character topic), Novierians aren't perfect in their ESP powers despite that they excel greatly in it. To correctly teleport something (The definition to teleport is the transfer of matter. Or something.), a Novierian must have every part of the thing they're teleporting in mind (Which most of them do, considering that everything they make is made from Migaitt's metal, and being psychologically connected to it kinda lets them know the form of those objects).
Organic bodies are completely different; they're constantly changing and are never perfectly still (bloodflow, constantly growing, etc.) A Novierian can't concentrate on every single change a organic body goes through, and they mess up causing the result of teleport to be pretty much a heaping pile of flesh.

The concentrator, like I said, is pretty much a calculator that works in conjunction with the Novierian's mind. Since almost anything existing can be measured mathematically (blood pressure, heart rate, etc) the concentrator helps the Novierian keep all changes of an organic body in an organized form to allow them to focus enough to teleport them correctly.

Thar. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Epic necro post~

More Novierian tech this time around. Quite a lot of them expand on pocket dimensions like their lambda/delta shields.

Dimensional tech:

Spacial cutter- Basically, it's a missile with a pocket dimension portal in front of it. Anything that the missile comes in contact with, it'll cut straight through it via gaping holes. In other words, if one wishes to keep their ship airtight, they'd be smart to avoid these. Targeting the missile behind said portal isn't a smart idea either: destruction of the missile will cause the pocket dimension portal to expand, engulfing anything immediately in front of the missile before the portal eventually dissipates. This isn't the only possible alternative, the portal could expand like a spear or fire off like a shotgun. In any case, this weapon is a threat, even when intercepted. And technically, the portal would cut through any shielding as well. Hell, it'll cut through anything.

Plane editing- This tech changes an entire Novierian pocket dimension to various things. For example, say you're in a Novierian Pocket Dimension. Instantly, the entire dimension is super heated plasma that would crush anything under super high pressure. It's not limited to just plasma, it could be pure energy meant to slowly burn external skin continually until the subject's entrails begin to burn. Complicated things like creating black holes and such cannot be done, but with this technology, you could technically capture a black hole and use it against anything.

Realm bomb- Bombs. You want them? They're yours my friend, as long as you survive your imminent death. This 'bomb' technically rips open a spherical portal to a Noverian pocket dimension and continually expands until the portal can no longer sustain itself (The max diameter of the portal depends on what class it is. Land class [ones intended for missions in person] can reach up to a 10 mile radius. Space class [ones intended for space warfare] can reach up to a 200,000 mile radius... or until a certain area limit has been reached preset by the user.). So essentially, in layman's terms, this bomb will literally swallow up anything caught in the 'blast.'

Phase Network: Tech most notably for ship combat. Using Novierian ESP abilities, they can transfer the electrical/kinetic/energy discharge from any attack or shot through any material. In layman's terms, any object can become a 'gun' with this tech. So essentially, an entire ship with this basically acts as a gun from all angles.
"How is this even possible Zai? Madness!" The phase network is a program installed into a Novierian's concentrator, training any Novierian's mind to utilize this ability. After training, the use of a concentrator is no longer needed for use of the Phase Network.
Not all discharges have to be from the Novierian itself, the Novierian can take any nearby energy and transfer it to a material, allowing any sort of special ammunition to be used. Note that this ability can affect enemy fire too, allowing any incoming damage to be volleyed right back to the original source.

All technology is Novierian compatible only. No other race may use these (I'm looking at you Hawkeye. My stuff belongs to me.) unless given permission.

What happens when one portal to a pocket dimension meets this one?

I think if the portals lead to the same pocket dimension/both lead to a Noverian made pocket dimension, they'd merge and become bigger. However, if more than one portal meets that lead to different dimensions, I guess 1. The biggest one will overpower the others or 2. If all the portals have the same properties, they'd cancel each other out.

... Or just ask some of our self proclaimed Einsteins.

Dimenaitt - After several breakthroughs in dimension technology, the Novierian race has found a way to infuse the properties of a portal to a pocket dimension to any metal of their choosing. Simply put, anything that is fired at the metal goes straight to the pocket dimension as well.
The problem with this though, is that the metal is part of the dimension; anything that edits the dimension or closes it affects the metal as well. To make up for this massive weakness, this alloy can be applied to Nilgaitt, making magic related causes of editing dimensions pretty much useless. Dimenaitt CANNOT be produced by a sole Novierian, they must produce this alloy manually. Once it is made though, they may shape it to any shape or size.

Repain Tsun- A massive tri legged machine as big as Rhode Island with metal spheres for feet; it is capable of rolling through most, if not all terrain without trouble, capable of heating, cooling, spiking/tractioning it's spheres for the sole purpose of navigation. A Novierian can easily make a Repain Tsun within a few seconds, and make it out of Nilgaitt if they're linked to the planet Nil. The Repain Tsun has ESP cannons, Realm cutters, and realm bombs. It is capable of firing these from all sides, and it is capable of plane editing and also Phase networking. For it's underside, it has massive thrusters for hovering, but also to burn and cook alive any underside attackers or to melt any undesired machinery.
The Repain Tsun can be piloted by a single Novierian with the help of a concentrator.

Stimezp- A stim pack developed to further heighten the ESP abilities of a Novierian to a breaking point of their sanity if used in large doses. Building speed and the area of effect of their ESP and the energy that comes from them is increase ten fold for a few short minutes. However, many Novierians after using stimezp find themselves without their mental abilities for a while, sometimes losing them for months at a time. For an example with Stimezp on how much it improves, A number of 1,000 Novierians can fill 1/3 of a planet with structures in a day. However, 10 Novierians with Stimezp can do the same exact task in 12 hours.

Psy linker- A much more recent development in the experimental stages. Psy linkers can link non-Novierian races to Migaitt, Nil, Black Holes, planets, etc. to give them the same building properties as Novierians. It has also been discovered that by using a Psy linker, anyone it is used upon seemed to unlock ESP abilities on a level 3 scale compared to magic as well. However, most life forms that were psy linked have had bouts of insanity, or developed mental conditions, the most dangerous one to link to being Migaitt. Whether it is because of Novierian's old religion of Migaitt having or being a god, or it being a black dwarf, no one knows for sure.
It seems that magic users psy linked seem to have less problems due to their spirit and magic able to heal some effects.

Nilgaitt Exoskeleton
Novierians have developed a way to infuse Nilgaitt directly into their skin and inside their body and brain. Because of Nilgaitt's effect on magic, and the recent attack on the Archive that made direct use of magic to null their ESP, they felt this development is very necessary considering they use almost no magic at all. On the downside, Novierians with this effect applied on and in them cannot use magic in any shape or form.

Watch the debates roll in.

... What.
The Novierians found Nil first, and were even the ones that named the damn thing. After getting to Nil, the Archive came to Nil AFTER the Novierians, and are allied. How else do you think I fended off Hawk's attack on the archive? How else did you think Orph even had Novierians to do stuff in the first place? He was even the one that made that tech so Novierians could relink themselves to stuff like black holes or even Nil itself, allowing me to do even more stuff.
