Lucien received another tap, rather sharply, upon his chest to negate the energies flowing outside his body. The instructor shook his head once more, obviously not amused.
"You will be tempted to use energies in combat. You must not. Martial arts is not supernatural. It is not applying the use of energies in combat. It is an art and combat style both of the body and mind. Using energies in combat will only serve to damage your body.. You must understand that.
"I, too, once had much energy within me. You must not mistake that energy as physical. It is magical. The magic within your body is seeking a way to escape as you become in sync with your body. You must not allow it the opportunity to do so.. You must control your body and mind."
He remained in the position, now pleased that Lucien was also in the right stance.
"This," he began to explain, "Is a starting stance. When you are practicing martial arts outside of combat, you should always begin your practices with this stance. If you are training under an instructor, you will probably be expected to hold this stance until your instructor tells you to stop."
He relaxed, keeping his legs in their place, but resting his hands on his hips. He adjusted the way his knees were bent so that they were bent without going past his feet, and he pushed his butt back. He basically looked like he was riding a horse. He held his left arm out at shoulder level, balled in a fist, palm down, and did the same to his right fist, leaving it upon his hip, palm up. He moved his right hand up into a punch, palm down, and rotated his left arm down to his hip at the very same time, all while yelling out a brief, "Huh!"
He kept rotating the stances of the two hands so that one hand would punch while the other would rest on his hip. He smiled as he did so, eventually motioning for Lucien to do what he was doing.
