Time
You can't have a plot only character and have it work well. I mean, you can restrict their powers, but restricting characters kills the character's character.
Asura is completely neutral. HELL there's no character on this board more neutral than her. She will ONLY step in if whatever is attacking fucks with time, and only then. In D&D she would be true neutral. Yes, she did help Hikaru at once point but only because she was sealed without her powers into her childlike state with very little of her true ability and could not locate K2 and Kai. Hikaru being the only other one with any Genesis at the time and sister to the two who sealed her was her key to becoming unsealed. Then when she was unsealed she gave the pocket watch of one time spell and assistance to Hikaru only to thank her for her help. She would have also rewarded K2 and Kai had they not been the idiots that sealed her in the first place.
Beside the point, that is the only times she has helped a mortal or hell anyone that's not a Templar. She's even neutral when it comes to other embodiments or universal disasters. Plex? Defended the Domain of Time and sat out the entire battle. False Heaven? Umm.. she wasn't there. Every other disaster? Not present. Books disappearing? It is in the category of fucking with time to a major extent so yes she plays a part.
So don't say Embodiments aren't only being used for plot and story devices. Asura was originally created just because K2 and Kai having locked time you KNOW someone had to be pissed at that. She was fleshed out later.
And other embodiments I've seen them as either story elements or jokesters/fun characters that like to mess around but never to their full extent. I see nothing wrong with an embodiment if all they're doing is causing mischief with their force. It's not like they're going out taking over things or killing thousands of people.
